I know there was some stuff posted here a few months ago...there were a few threads...
Here's one of them.
Of course, I'm a bit skeptical, because I'm not crazy about the idea of a live action film...I hope Evangelion doesn't get butchered...
However, I'm also excited, because there's a chance it might turn out to be good...
Regardless, if this actually goes through...I'll definitely check it out!

I really hope it turns out good. I love Eva and would hate to see it treated badly.
Still, that concept art looks good, and at least the FX will look good with WETA doing them. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it turns out.

Yes we heard.
It has a high possiblity of sucking big time. Especially since I read somewhere that they considered the harry potter kid to play shinji.
But after seeing return of the king I have faith that maybe they can pull it off.

Here is a link to the full-sized picture (the latest picture I have seen regarding the Live-Action NGE movie) seen below: Full-Sized Picture

You got anymore pics?

Very nice concept material. The pic of Rei (is that Rei?

) looks "different" from what I expected though...
But the final product is what counts in most people's thoughts, so I'm going to wait for it and see what happens.

Well, we just saw a highly popular series updated well (LotR), so I have to say that i'm willing to give this a shot. Yes, there will almost certainly be some significat changes, especially since this move (likely no more than 2 hours) will have no chance to get into the deeper layers of the stories or the characterizations.
think of it as the world highest production value fanfic. it wont be NGE as we know it from the anime, but it might just be really really good on its own merits.

I agree w/ you, Advinius. Personally, I've only seen the first four episodes of NGE (the first DVD) but i'd really like to see the whole series ([$30 a DVD] x [# of DVDs] = $$$$$

). Isn't there a NGE movie, though? Something called End Of Evangelion? I've heard of it but i dont really know how it relates to the series.

two movies:
Neon Genesis Evangelion*: Death and Rebirth
-This was mostly a movie of clips from the series, at least the "Death" portion of the movie. After the Credits in the middle of the film, "Rebirth" began, which had the preview ofthe upcoming "End of Evangelion"
Neon Genesis Evangelion: End of Evangelion
-This is what takes place at the end of the series. I can't really say much or else it'll be a massive spoiler.
Both movies are currently out on DVD from Manga Ent.
maybe they should try making several live action Eva movies (if they do go through with this one), that way we can still get the proper development. I mean, a few three hour movies and you have the same time devoted to them (actually, a bit more, as the episodes only ran about 22-25 minutes per episode, I think) as about 18 episodes of the show. then they could more properly develope everything.
*the series is also known in Japan as Shin Seiki Evangelion, meaning "New Century Evangelion"

I saw all episodes and movies of EVA and loved it. (at least I understood the ending a tiny bit more than big o's ending).
The movie will have good special effects but I'm not sure about the story.
Will they drop any methaphorical stuff and just stick with the robots and angels fighting for 2 hours.
Or will the seriously attempt to condense the basic idea of the story.

The pictures look really cool, but I am somewhat skeptical until we know more. Just like to point out that WETA is just an effects studio guys, they don't have anything to do with casting and writing and such...

What the..?
Rei Aynamaire?
What happend to Ayanami? are they changing her nationality or somthing. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what else they change.

Well, if that clip is from any magazine Wizard publishes, they most likely spelled it wrong.

The images in the japanese NEwtype were also available in Newtype USA. I remember when I picked it up.
http://eva.trivialbeing.net/ is a fan site which highlights the movie. It's well worth a look. Now, who can I convince to buy the new director cuts DVD of Evangelion so I can borrow it.

Well, at least they want to make it a multipart series instead of trying to compress the whole story into 2 hours or less.

or maybe thats their way of completely avoiding the ending, therefore not going through the difficult process of trying to convert that to a live action movie, and not to piss any fans off.
It also says we might not see it as late as 2010, or maybe even never.

too lazy to find the actual page in aintitcool but here are some additional concept drawings in additition to the old ones....
pretty cool but like some others....im afraid that they will actually use the name Kate Rose instead of Asuka Langley or Ray instead of Rei...
