They won't if they know what's good for 'em...

I'm really excited about this project, but I want to see some perspective actors/actresses!!! I really hope its no one lame, I would rather they use Indie ones and get a close to original look/talent than trying to push this via "star power", which it DOESN'T need.

Hmm, hoping they go with a totally orchestrated score, and no stupid "theme song" by someone like Britney Spears or anything... If they do a theme song, I sure as heck hope its a good one! Ooh, this is really exciting!

pretty cool but like some others....im afraid that they will actually use the name Kate Rose instead of Asuka Langley or Ray instead of Rei...

nice find ^_^

i also hope they keep the names of the originals, it just wouldn't be Neon Genesis Evangelion without the same characters and the same names Frown

I feel that this movie has the potential to become good (possibly great) if they are able to replicate the story and evas/angels convincingly in a live-action format. That whole series thing sounds like a good idea but a really expensive one at that. What were you guys saying about them bypassing the ending or something? But I can admit that translating the End of Eva into a live-action movie would be one hell of a job.

I also feel strongly about finding original talent instead of going for star-power. The movie should have relatively young actors playing the roles of the children or it will just be stupid. Unless they disregard that aspect entirely, which is kind of ok with me. Maybe young older teenagers/young adults, I'm not really sure how having young teenagers piloting the evas tied into the story. Can someone fill me in?
GoGoArlo 03-12-2004 10:12 PM
the evas remind me of the way the new Godzilla looked in that American remake,...wow does anybody remember that movie? I hope this movie dosnt turn out like that one.

It has something to do with the children being born after the Second Impact. As to why the EVAs can only be piloted by post-Second Impact children who's mothers had died, is never fully explained.

Oh yeah how could I forget about that, anyways thank's for reminding me. Don't read this unless you have already seen the series.

spoiler (highlight to read):
The evangelions contain the souls of the pilot's mothers, atleast Asuka and Shinji. Unit 00 (Rei's Eva) contains Ritsuko's mothers soul which ironically killed the fist Rei.

I know what your talking about Godzilla his american incarnation was like a big mutated iguana. From the pictures I have seen any worries about the Eva's designs and powers becoming diluted is very unlikely. From
watching the interview it seems that the Weta people are excited to work on this project.

Will no one think of the actors? These poor poor people will spend something like 8 months to a year or more doing nothing but Evangelion, Evangelion, Evangelion. We think that Evangelion is depressing when we just watch it, imagine what these people will have to go through every day. They'll have to delay the opening for months till all of the stars get out of the Psych Wards.
GoGoArlo 03-13-2004 11:05 PM
wait a second....are these articles telling me this movie might not even be made. Typical Hollywood gets the rights to make an existing series into a film and they never do anything with it. This isnt the first time its happened to an anime. Astro Boy the movie which was to have some involvment with Will Smith (performance or production I dont know) and Jim Henson productions was suppose to come out years ago. A film adaptation of the manga Parasyte was also suppose to have involvement with Jim Henson productions but I guess never got off the ground. Both Nicholas Cage and Sylvester Stallone had talked about producing a Speed Racer film but that was about 8 years ago so.....
But lets not give up hope both a live action DEVILMAN (the previews are awsome) and live action Cutey Honey (ugh... looks pretty silly) are slated to be released very soon in Japan.

All I can say about this movie, so far, is...

"At the very least, we can put 110% of our faith into WETA."

Good, I despise Evangelion, there fore I care not. Also, a live action movie does not nesciarly ruin a series, look at boogiepop.

Quite frankly, although I'm a Giant Robot fan, I'm definately not into EVA for one reason.

It's plot.

I hate it with a passion. It starts off mildly acceptible, but then it completely takes a trip similar to "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas".

I swear, the creater of this series must have stopped taking his medications half way into production.

If WETA wants to blow out minds again, after a stellar LotR Trilogy, they should do...

THE BIG O!

When production of EVA started, Hideki Anno was in a state of depression (I hear his wife and son died in a car crash) that only got worse as the series went on, until he eventually came out it, and this is reflected in the series' final 2 episodes.

Or so I hear.

I on the other hand liked the series, it was more analytical of the humand mind than any other anime (there are others). The series seemed to be heading into that direction anyways. The AT fields tie in with the whole perception of one's self and how people interact with each other. It's his baby so he wanted to give the series a reasonable ending which conveyed his thoughts and feelings. I personally didn't like the episode, "The Beast Who Cried I, at The Heart of The World". The End of Eva was a much better conclusion to the series (if not a little bit weirder than the previous one).

Prons why do you despise Evangelion? I asked you before and never got an answer.

A Big O movie hahahahahaha......

Well, it would be easier to do a film adaptation of that series than Evangelion. But I would be more excited to see the Evas brought to life than the Big O.

Hideki Anno wanted to marry the VA for Asuka, she said NO! Hideki got married to some one else a while back.

Evangelion? Well its a character based show and I don't really care for any of them, except Kawrou, the eggnog drinking guy, he was funny, In fact I can still picture him walking out of the house with a gallon of eggnog and Adam in his Ozzy Osbroune voice "WHERE YA GOING WITH DA NOG!?!?!"

The mech desing was okay, in praticular the MP eva's desing really stands out, followed by eva 03, some of the angels were neat.

Battle scenses wernt to much. I also do not like the fan base (NO offence to anyone personal) becuase on AN most of them are elitists who never watch anything else.
The Baker St. Irregular 03-15-2004 01:53 AM
Bah. Eva ruined my life and I'm dang proud of it. I'm all gung-ho for the "mess-with-your-fragile-little-head". I have a new out-look on life because of it. And it's not a pessimisitic or depressive one, either.
Barrin 04-13-2004 10:58 AM
This is nothing official or anything, but I saw it, and it's very good.

I'd love to see this in the movie theatre. More info on it can be found at http://www.deviantart.com/view/6174240 so you can see the full sized pic.
The Big Mo 04-13-2004 12:19 PM
He does some great Photoshop work.

He's also done some Trigun and Lupin III posters.
Ai Takahashi 04-13-2004 12:23 PM
I can't imagine this movie being bad, since it's Evangelion. I'm sure everyone will whine and complain about the smallest details they ruin before they enjoy the movie. Oh well.
Mr. Fortnight 04-14-2004 11:10 PM
Not to mention every troll on AICN will say the movie sucks and flame out every person who says otherwise.

Welcome to the internet age. *sigh*
BabyGhia 04-15-2004 01:58 AM
The movie could have potential if they use the right people to do it. And if they could make the ending make even more sense, I'd be even happier.

I understood the ending after watching End of Eva but would still like an easier to understand ending.

But I don't like the idea of them Americianizing the names of the characters. Ewww...

About a Big O live action movie, I really hope they never do it. Unless they could find an actor that looks like Roger and can sound like Steve Blum... what's the point of seeing it???
