I'm sure alot of you have read Isaac Asimov books like the robot and foundation novels. Even big o has a asimov references with the R. prefix, laws governing their behavior, and the domed cities.

They made Bicentennial Man which was only so so. Now they are making an I Robot movie. AND IT LOOKS LIKE THEY RUINED IT! Guess who the main star is, WILL SMITH thats right will smith as Detective Spooner (spooner? What the hell?).... who investigates a murder by a robot. Wait isn't that caves of steel? Sure but they dont care.

So that's what that movie trailer for a robot was about - I had no idea. Still, this sounds like they just took the different characters, threw in one, and are going to make a totally different story. Oh well, I'll still give it a shot, to see if it's any good.

Asimov stories don't good make cinema as far as I know.

And here they are making a movie based extrememly loosely on asimov books possibly tainting his reputation.

No one cares that they're ruining asimov?

New Trailer http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/i_robot/

"It seems most of the money currently in circulation in the western hemisphere is being dumped directly into this movie. A single picture car cost 1.2 million to make. Whether or not the quality will warrant the garantuan budget remains to be seen.

Expect to see a complete bastardization of Isaac Asimov's classic. Will Smith is the lead, and he has marketing written all over him. Funky shades with blue lights built into the rims, brown leather jacket, a quadruple exhaust motorbike....

Recently they shut down one of the tunnels in vancouver for part of Smiths big motorcycle chase scene...

Odd. I don't remember any motorbike chases in the book.

Expect I, Robot action figures, video games, clothing lines, and of course lunchboxes... " - Ain't it cool news.

check it out....

Written by the same guy who wrote Batman & Robin and Lost in Space.

Isaac Asimov is one of the writers who defined science fiction. He was a prolific writer, with over 300 fiction and non-fiction books to his credit. While I find his fiction less enthralling than I did when I was a kid, I think anyone with an interest in robots should read I, Robot and the Caves of Steel trilogy, because a lot of what is taken for granted in robot-human interactions were set down in those books.

The movie actually began with no intentions of remaking Asimov's book. They added some rules governing robot's behavior, and realized they were ripping him off, and then they decided to just rename the movie I, Robot and make it a book-to-movie adaptation, even though they book and the movie have nothing to do with one another. I hate hollywood.

I thought it was an okay movie until I read Maddox's thing and realized it was basically a big advertisement. The only good scene was when Will Smith's fat boss took the shotgun and started blowing robots apart.
On the subject of Maddox... BANANA ASSAULT! Banana chips with an attitude!

By all accounts, it was an ok movie.

Whats really amusing is I have a book upstairs, containing a prior screenplay, and a bunch of notes from one of many previous attempts to make it into a movie. I'm going to have to go back and re-read that now.

He dosen't even get a "based on the works of" credit, more of a "loosely based on the works of" thing.
