It’s amazing how different the dub is from the sub in this show. Has anyone watched the sub? The adaptation is so much better. The best thing that was added in the American adaptation was when Fujico calls Lupin a “dirty hippy” in the disorient express.

I've watched 50WTLY50FL in sub. And I don't know which one is better. Every now and then there's some cursing in the sub, but I think they use that just to give the script a bit of a jolt. It eventually starts to wear away into boringness. And of course they can't curse so much in the dub, but there's also a bunch of script missing from the dub during translation.

I’ll have to watch “50” and look at the differences. I hate it when they leave things out instead of just rearranging and adding extra funny things. I also hate it when I don’t really get a part in English (doesn’t really happen with Lupin), rewind it, put the sub on and see that the sub says exactly the same confusing thing. One of the best adaptations I have seen is Vincent’s speech at the end of bebop the movie, they add so much in English but what they add is incredibly well written and IMO made the movie way better.

Hey, what do you guys think of the new Lupin promo?

It's nicely done, it's the second opening animation with some changes. Some scenes were changed around, and sound effects were added.

I'm glad they used the second opening instead of the first one for promos. The second one is much more 70's. One thing that surprised me was that they left a naked Fujiko with a machinegun in!

That's is what grabs our attention! Tongue Big Grin If they REALLY wanted to grab our attention they'd do the pan from Auntie Balistic, or maybe a picture of a naked Konaizo running through the "nature camp". Roll Eyes

This is the best Lupin III movie ever, in my opinion.

I think a closeup of Goemon's butt would work fine. =P

It's in almost every episode! XD

Best Lupin dub changes tonight “dirty hippy” and “Jigen, can you see with your hat like that?” ... “guess we’ll find out.”

A couple of things that strike me about L3:

1) The English-language episode titles are a scream. Just extremely clever in their use of pun, assonance, and double entendre. They're so heavily language-based that I have to ask: Are the Japanese titles just as clever? Are the U.S. titles basically word-for-word translations? The latter doesn't seem likely, but I'm really curious about this.

2) I love the dub voice acting. All the characters consistently hit just the right mix of confidence-game cynicism and self-deprecating humor. Lupin and Jigen are particularly well cast.

Uhhhh, that's all I got right now.

NO YOU MUST NEVER CALL IT "L3" ...Call it LupinIII Tongue Evil Big Grin Wink

Now then...
1) Alot of the titles (or at least half) aren't translated EXACTLY. "Zenigatacon" is actually "Steal File M123" (or something like that). And "Rats To You" actually is quite long and very very different when translated o.o!

2) The did the best casting ever...Lupin's VA hits the mark. I've heard Lupin's Japanese VA on the CD and I must say they both do a really great job playing the perverted one. Wink Jigen...tough and sacarstic as well as quick to shoot...I also love it how he and Jet are so much alike Tongue (I'm pretty sure though, that was the intention since Jet was based on Jigen Roll Eyes ). Fujiko is done so wonderfully, it makes me wonder how many times her VA cracked up in the studio! Big Grin Goemon, and Zenigata...oh god! Perfect perfect PERFECT!!! Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin All of the puns, play on words, jokes, insults, and the billion-and-one uses of the word "CRAP" are all done like a piece of art....which it is... Pleased Cool

Yes, a lot of the Lupin III episodes titles are very different from the original Japanese episode title, for reasons not yet known to me. The English voice acting is very well done. Then again, anything dubbed by Geneon / Pioneer is considered good in my book. Lupin III is indeed a funny series to watch. I may get the DVD's sometime in the future.
