Happy Birthday, Zola! If I go up to Boston in a few months (pending whenever Spring Break is), I'll treat you to lunch at Charlie's in Cambridge, deah.

^_^

Oh, and here's your very own anatomically correct Roger Smith android made of chocolate.

*runs before the boyfriend objects loudly*

You know, Mega Dominus, the beauty of 41 is that when younger people look at you and you can tell they are thinking "wow! she's ANCIENT!" ,you can simply smile, smug in the knowledge that one day, they too will be 41, and with any luck, someone will do the same or worse to them Wink

All kidding aside, thanks a lot for the birthday wishes, guys. Lady Tesser *Zola looks around nervously* Falcon7 didn't even see it, so we'll say no more about it. Wink

Yes, Bentar, my school was way cooler than yours. Wink

Manji! It looks like a great dane when 10 minutes ago I thought it looked more like a poodle!

Funny, my birthday itself was pretty ho-hum, but today is the day we are having the party for everyone and it's a lot more fun already! Big Grin

If I had to work with mainframes and punch cards there's no way I would have studied CS. I guess it would be fun to give it a try now simply for the novelty value, but to program that way for real? Yuck . . . You must have far more patience that I do (both Zola and Bentar).

Thanks Black Phoenix Smile

It wasn't boring at all, it was INTERESTING, especially to a 15 year old. Bentar and I were talking, and I was telling him how stunned everyone was when my geometry teacher brought in a computer that could be programmed directly through the keyboard It was amazing!

Odd thing is that even though I did no programming after for years and years and years, what I learned made my getting current on the popular languages very easy because I understood the principles, and once you understand the principles, it's all syntax. Smile

I didn't mean that it was boring. Rather, I would have been extremely frustrated with it. The thing I love about modern programming languages is that you can write code that looks very much like english. I like that.

The transition from old mainframes to modern PCs must have been huge. I just missed out on that though . . . my earliest computer experences were all on an old apple IIe . . . now *that* was classic Smile .

I'm not trying to get this thread off topic though. It's a birthday thread after all . . .

So happy birthday! Hehehe . . .

Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday, dear Zola
Happy birthday to you!

And many more!!!

BTW, when I was 16, I spent much too much time designing arithmetic functions with AND and OR. Punch cards? We would've *liked* to have punch cards!!

Glad to hear your party got better! I hope you enjoyed the cake, ice cream and presents!! (You are NEVER too old for cake & ice cream) although, I didn't know that 40s are considered old! Thanks for all the trouble shooting help! You & Falcon 7 are awesome!
