Unless you are a sick and demented fan boy/girl of Angel & Dorothy/Roger...
I hope there's none here. *Looks around in a paranoid fashion*

Well, slanting the show *that way* would certainly fill 26 episodes

I never heard the sexual referance till afterwards. I have also heard Big O in referance to Ohio state football. Im pretty sure it wasnt ment to be some kinda sick marketing tool though.

I had been aware of the American slang for a long while, but when it came to reading about the anime, I could not identify the slang with the title. The first pics I saw of Big O in Animerica or some anime mag was Roger and Dorothy standing in front of the Megadeus, so I automatically knew it was some robot battle show (although my initial misconception about who Roger and Dorothy were was wrong - I thought both were Robot pilots, she the daughter of the designer [at least I got that right] and he the smartass pilot she has to put up with [partially right]).
Anyway, when I went to look up the anime on the web, I remembered the American slang and carefully typed in "Big O anime" in the search engine. Results were all anime-related.
That's how I found Paradigm City.
And I'm still under the impression the O stands for a whole word, but shortening it to a single syllable letter is much punchier.

Its rather amusing....I knew the term "big o" as it doesn't apply to the show, but I never made that connection in my head. It was just like "Well this is Big O the show with robots." In fact, the thought never occurred to me until I read that article some time ago - while searching for Big O related sites - and they drew the comparison there. I thought it was hilarious that I hadn't seen it myself earlier...I usually have a pretty dirty mind, hehe.
I also really doubt its a marketing technique or some other...simply because it doesn't fit. And I don't think the Japanese have a strong enough grasp of American slang to come up with something like that.
-EDIT-
Eeeeee! I just noticed! This was my 100th post! I feel cool.

Well, I will admit that that was the reason I did originally check it out.
It was when Big O was on midnight run, it was late, and I was curious what kind of show on Cartoon Network was called that.
Big O - come for the (supposeded) pr0n, stay for the a**-kicking giant robot action.
