What if there was a Big O live action movie?

Well, if we can use dead actors, I'd vote for Groucho Marx as Alex Rosewater (in a reprise of his role as Rufus T. Firefly in DUCK SOUP).
But I think we'd be better off with Kermit the Frog as Roger and Miss Piggy as Dorothy. Sam the American Eagle could be Alex Rosewater. Gonzo the Great would add new depth to the role of Gordon Rosewater.

That dog that played the piano could be R. Instro. But who would be Big Ear?

I agree with Lady Tesser. The thing I worry about with the Wachowski Bros. working on the Big O is they'll probably make the Big O movie like a videogame (full of unnecessary fighting scenes one after the other) and make the story pointless (no offense) like they did with Reloaded and Revoultions.

Natalie Portman should play Dorothy! Through I think Leah can kick Amidala's ass I like Natalie Portman, she seems innocent but strong willed.

Such actions would prove to be more comical than anything else. Just imagine Big O doing martial arts moves on another Megadeus.
Then Roger would be more like Bruce Lee insted of Bruce Wayne.

well roger already has the oracle in big ear
Trinity-Dorothy
Morpheus-Norman
Agent Smith-Alex
the archietect-Gordon
and when Roger meets gordon, the old fart talks in these really big words to completely throw off any type of concrete thinking...
...wait...they already did that
but Big O was never about the action, to me, i saw it as the most character driven anime i ever seen in my live, the robot battles are just window dressing, the movie should be the same...
and thats why it must NEVER be made in hollywood

I think the best movie would be none at all there are so many things that can go wrong in a movie that will end up leaving a black mark on the whole series and live action is the worst, I can see a movie happening for Lupin because there is a lot of comedy to be found and you can watch it without being familiar with the story but with an anime as deep as The Big O were there is a lot of layers it is extremely difficult to portray accurately. Not to mention that most directors could give a s**t about story they'd rather consentrate on visual effects. So for me I'd rather have an anime movie or even better yet another season which would be preferable.

I couldn't agree with you more. The thought of making the Big O movie is just wrong. Even if Steven Speilberg or Peter Jackson directed the movie, there going to mess things up.

I STILL think this guy would make a GREAT Alex Rosewater. Can you guess who he IS?

Yes! Rip Torn! Hell, he already looks like Alex!
And call me crazy, but I think Sean Connery would be a good Norman.
Christopher Lloyd, the mad scientist from Back to the Future could be Tim Waynewright.
Christopher Walken = Schwarzwald, even though his voice is very different.

I heard they were making a live action NG Evangelion. If they manage to pull that movie off, maybe we can see how they could go about translating Big o to the BIg screen.

Not to mention a live action Cutey Honey in the works as well. If these two classics turn out great, the support for more live-action features will increase and expect past hits and classics to show up fleshed out in the real.

I've rethought my casting for the Big O movie. It should not be live action. Here's my casting:
ROGER SMITH: Popeye the sailor man.
DOROTHY WAYNERIGHT: Olive Oyl
ANGEL: Betty Boop
ALEX ROSEWATER: Bluto
GORDON ROSEWATER: Wimpy (just replace "tomato" with "hamburger" and you're done).

Hi everyone. Long time lurker, first time poster here.
I've given a lot of thought to the idea of a Big O movie over the last few months (I'm a film student, so I think about these type things a lot). I honestly can't imagine a way to do it well in a single movie, or even to give it a good start in one movie.
But I got to thinking, a miniseries might do the trick. Not a normal two parter mind you, but a 3 parter like SciFi Channel's Children of Dune. Use the first installment to introduce the characters and get things going and then continue the story in the next two. Course things would still get compressed and jumbled around that way.
As for actors: I've never been good at things like these. I can see Hugh Jackman as Roger. He's got the right build for it and is a good enough actor to boot.
Connery as Norman? Maybe. I don't see it personally, but it could probably be done.
Sarah Michelle Gellar as Angel? No way. For one, she's no where near tall enough (Gellar's what, 5 foot 2? Angel's nearly six feet), and two she just doesn't look right to me.
A younger Rip Torn would be great as Alex, I have to say. He's old enough to play Gordon now though. Which is too bad, cause he doesn't look enough like Gordon to pull it off. Brando is the only one who could play Gordon. Heheh.
Just about anyone could play Shwartzwald as long as they're good at playing crazy. I guess that's an advantage to being covered in bandages. I like the ideas of Walken or Kiefer Sutherland, though. Jack Nicholson would also do a good job, though maybe that's too much of the Joker to Roger's Batman there.
I like the idea of Natalie Portman or Kiera Knightly as Dorothy. They're about the right size and I think they could pull off her usually cold and sarcastic personality well.
No idea of who could play Dastun, though.
All things considered, an animated movie would probably be best though. You wouldn't have to worry about the characters not looking quite right and with any luck, you could get the normal VAs to do the job.
