Now picture that, except its a megadeus.

just get Square to produce a CG movie version and let the voice actors curently dubbing Big O play their own roles.

If the plot of that sucked half as much as the one of "spirits within" did, I'd torch the theatre, I have the gasoline and Im prepared to use it.

EDIT: If they ever made a live action Big O, there is only one choice to play Schwarzwald...Gary Busey.

A live action movie would suck becuase it would look like a bad godzilla movie with cosplayers and a plot that is hard to condense.

But if it was done. They would have to play up the whole mystery noir feel and the gothic city. Try to distance itslf from batman. Many special effects for the robots.

They have to make schwazvald more different from alan to prevent confusion.

It would be hard to condense without dropping and changing stuff.
unless each movie was divided into chapters or acts.

key episodes in the movies that need to be used for plot fuel:

1,2,4,10,12,13,14,17,20-26. The events of those movies need to used. All other plots from other episodes can be filled in.

I propose a trilogy:

Movie one: The first season events

Movie 2: 14-20 OR 14-23

Movie 3: 20-26 OR 24-26

If you take the second set of episodes you will have more movie time to spend on the end plot.

Finally DONT CALL IT BIG O THE MOVIE. Call it "Paradigm City" or somthing. Big o would only taunt people to make fun of it.

Although I'm not an actor, i do naturally have Beck's hair:
My hair is blond and when it gets kind of long it culrs out at the sideburns; the front (bangs?) curl to the left and i bet that if I let it get long enough it would do a full loop like Beck's.

So maybe I could be beck's stund-double! I'm going to go star practicing clapping with my feet right now!

If they could get him to speak with an American Accent...

Pierce Brosnan = Roger Smith.

I'd always thought that Roger Smith was based on the most recent James Bond, or rather the younger Brosnan in Remington Steele.

It would have been nice to have the boat-tailed Auburn too!

How about Kiefer Sutherland as Shwartzwald, his character in Dark City was phenomenal and fundamentally the same.
Sometimes it's scary how close that movie and Big O are, just get rid of the aliens and tuning powers and throw in robots and there you have Big O, albiet with a few plot points out of line, the characters are basically identical. Although I can't see Rufus Sewell playing a Roger Smith, he did do a good job in Dark City. Dastun could be anyone, he doesn't even need to look anime-accurate at 100%, just the scar and beard. I actually agree with Jim Carrey as Alan, especially with the personality of his Cable Guy character, just not obsessed with tv! Definately Brando as Gordon, and how about Andy Garcia as Alex?

Agreed. Sutherland's character in Dark City IS quite scwharzwaldesque (even if he's working for the "bad guys"). And the entire theme and ambience of that film DOES remind me of big O in many ways.

I would love a Big O LA movie (if it was done well). I think the Wachowski Bros. (the guys that made the Matrix movies) could make a good series of Big O movies. I got the idea when I saw Matrix Revolutions. The CGI effects were absolutely amazing, and I think that the same technology could make very realistic looking Megadeuses. Also the plots for the last two Matrix movies (especially Reloaded) are similar to Big O in a few ways. The Wachowski Bros. are awesome storytellers, like anime, and could get the high budget needed for a series of Big O movies. It would be great as long as they find good actors that look the parts, and made sure the plot was always more important than the movies. I would like there to be four movies (possible titles for them: "The Big O", then "The Big Duo", then "The Big Fau", and finally "The Big Venus". It would make awesome posters as well), and all four of the movie's overall length would be about ten to eleven hours (around the same running time as the show). They could also explain some of the questions not answered in the show. Does anyone else think this is a good idea, or have an idea for a Big O movie? I just can't figure out how the structure for the movies would work, to keep them from becoming horribly episodic, since it would be based on a TV show.

Somebody already said this, but Jim Carey should be Alan Gabriel. That would be hilarious...
John 11-22-2003 09:36 PM
I've heard Jim Carrey for the part of Alan Gabriel, which sounds like a pretty good idea. I was wondering if you guys had any other good ideas for casting decisions.

Is this 'Big O Live Action Movie Thread' number 3 or 4?

Still, I must agree, I'm more concerned with plot and storytelling - special effects are secondary.

Lemmee see if I remember my cast list from another thread on this topic:

Roger - young Harrison Ford (or Brenden Fraiser)
Dorothy - Christina Ricci
Norman - everyone pounded on Sean Connery as the ONLY Norman
Alan - of course, Mr. Carey
Angel - young Diana Rigg (ORIGINAL Emma Peel)
etc etc etc

Of course, I'd actually prefer it to be a complete cast of unknowns - it worked in the first Star Wars movie.

10 hours?

my god, andy warhol lives!

sheesh, it would make those old bible epics look like a loony tunes short

whatever, anyway

i dunno maybe Tim Burton would be ok as an director, hopefully going back to the old batman movies, maybe Shinichiro Watanabe, he's a big fan of american noir movies

then again, why dont they make it all cg? well maybe not, live action and such

yak i dunno, i go along with the unknowns too

keep it under budget...

but i think the members of queen should make an appearance Big Grin
