Episode 26 Discussion (The episode that didn't air)
Last night Big O "The Show Must Go On", a premiere and season finale scheduled to air as part of our Halloween stunt, failed to air. This was certainly not intentional, and it's still not quite clear how the mistake was made. We're very sorry that this happened, and we want to make it up to you. Here's the plan:
Big O, "The Show Must Go On" will air at 11pm next Sunday, November 2.
Family Guy, "When You Wish Upon A Weinstein," an episode that's making it's television debut on Adult Swim, will move to 11pm on Sunday, November 9.
Thanks for making us aware of our mistake. We heard about it first on the boards. Please use this thread to voice any lingering complaints and opinions on the topic.
Apologetically yours,
Kim Manning

Too funny...
It's been a hell of a Sunday night.
EDIT: Remember that guy holding the "Big O is disappointed" sign? He was a fan living across the street who walked into Willliams Street to complain... so they invited him into the party and let him make a sign. Very nice of them.

LOL! We must have pressed the "submit" button simultaneously!
Well, this works out well. My birthday is Saturday, the party is on Sunday, just in time!
Wow that's good news... hope it's official... and that they play the correct episode this time...

Sounds like Cartoon Network is in full CYA mode right now.
So what they're saying is they don't know what the hell they're doing over there. Mislabelled tapes? Not sure what happened? It's not a criminal investigation; something like this should be figured out in less than half and hour.
So in the end, it's either a stupid joke(with a lot of backlash), or gross incompetence.

How right you are.

I'm sad though. I wrote an anrgy letter and everything, but I'l never get to send them

Oh well, the Finale is more important. AS I said before in a thread my letter wasn't very good anyway. Go Andy, your my new hero, right after Dorothy and Hidekki Matsui

Here's the thread

Whew.
Still ... the tape being mislabeled? Could it have been premeditive?
(Living in paranoia is much more fun.)
I was planning on changing my sig to 'Roxanne Smith is not amused, Cartoon Network.' until they apologized, but they apologized before I came home from the college.
I can live through another week of waiting. ^_^
(More thanks to Andy!)

Sometimes the waiting for another episode is as good as seeing the last episode. Think about it... once it airs... it's over (well, unless they pump out a season 3).
Big Anticipation.... ACTION!
Yeah, it gives us another whole week of solidarity!

Ok
I would have posted last night about how disgusted and disappointed I was last night.
But there were so many people on I couldn't even get to the boards.
Needless to say,the prostates of the Adult Swim executives shall explode in the most painful of ways if I don't get episode 26.

Wow
That was CRAZY STUFF! I was notified Stripes was being replayed by someone in an IRC room I was in (I normally miss the 11 pm runs, its ok, selective insomnia is awesome).
This was either a reeally big SNAFU on the part of williams street, or a downright brilliant marketing idea (or it SOUNDS like one) that went horribly awry somewhere down the line.
This may very well end up like the "not without my anus" fiasco south park had. "They didnt realize how many fans they had, until they royally pissed them off" as one person on some documentary on the shows history once said. Season 3/a movie/something now looks brighter, now they KNOW theres a RABID audience for it...
I tried coming here, but the place was down, guess from being swarmed, heh. I didnt check the AS forums (I habitually dont anymore). I watched a bit of their webcam party thing, I noticed some guy in the background beifly at one point with a sign reading "Big O is displeased". I assumed that was their way of dealing with this.
Annoying? Yeah. Can I wait a week? Yeah. Was this experience very interesting insofar as a slight window into the workings of AS, their relations with fans, and how people react to events like this? Hell yeah.
It still irritated me, bigtime. But hey, at least it makes for interesting conversation.
Ok, so it was a mistake. They realized they screwed up and they're going to play it next week. Myself, that was what I figured from the beginning: Someone put the wrong tape in and is gonna be fired. It's not really false advertising, since they didn't knowingly change it.
Seriously though, Cartoon Network was why the second season was made. They wouldn't go ahead and not finish it, no matter what the reason. I was mad at first, but after about a half hour I calmed down and realized it was just a mistake. A mix-up. They're gonna play it, just a week later. We do have a right to be mad, but we really shouldn't be overreacting. It's not like it was pulled from existence, never to see the light of day.

It is official, although Adult Swim hasn't updated their schedule yet.
Woot! I am so glad Adult Swim issued an apology so quickly. Maybe they really do care.

Then again, maybe not.
Either way, the amount of flak they got from this mistake may go a long way towards season three.

Don't be so eager for revenge.
The fact is that Adult Swim claims that the problem was that the tapes were mislabled. They would have actually labled the tapes a while ago. It would be very difficult for them to go back and find out who labled what tape.
Besides, a zero can look an awful lot like a six if you have bad handwriting.
Here is a theoretic example of the handwriting of the guy who lables the tapes at CN:

Wow that was crazy. I wasnt able to log on here and join in the ranting last night but I got my voice heard over at adult swim fourms. It was kinda of yelling at [as] all night but I would of rather of seen act 26. I was looking forward to it all week and now I have to do it all over again. They better be sorry.

Fired or not, that poor soul is to the AS fan community, what that misguided fan who deflected a falling ball was to the chicago cubs fans.
...Well...I doubt he had to be escorted from the broadcasting offices with a coat over his head to hide his identity, but still..

Me: I'm glad this happened. Controversy, scandal, conspiracy theories, Big O fans united in rage/confusion. This season is going out with a BANG. Even if there is no third 3rd season, the Big O will forever live on in American anime history (at least Adult Swim history) because of this. I expected it to be over today... but it's not! All the anticipation I had built up last week i can ad to this week! Now that everything has been explained (well, sort of) and apologized for I am happier (I think) then I would have been if the show had aired lastnight.

It already did, the ratings alone were insanely high (higher than any show on AS I believe, and definately higher than any anime aired thusfar that I know of). But now...wow...
And hey, when/if AS gets big, we can all say...we were watching, the night they botched episode 26.
