Episode 26 Discussion (The episode that didn't air)

I guess checking what you're doing is a foreign idea over at Cartoon Network. Apparentlly, the people there can't be trusted to do anything without being micro-managed. Had this happened in a major network with the final episode of a big show, I can guarantee you that a whole line of people would lose their jobs. And they would deserve it. I applaud the members here who show compassion towards those idiots, but this is beyond a mistake. This is incompetence.
For crying out loud, can't they read the title on the tape? Didn't we all learn that trick in elemetary school?

So will cartoon network/adultswim be airing the episode some time in the near future or will we harve to wait until the first two seasons reair?
I DO NOT want to wait another 25 episodes to see the Big O Big-Fau fight and to see how the series ends.
Someone give me some good news!!!!!!!

I have read all of about the mass deletes from the AS forums from before and find that behaviour odd at best and just f'ed up basically. I really appreciate everything you guys are doing for the fans.
On a different note though, I keep on reading the AS forums looking for a definitive answer to my question as to what happened and I see none. Has anyone seen differently? And people's report of what happened in the webcam seems weird too. Does anyone think this was actually intentional (as some other AS posters have pointed out given the weird message last week about the gerbil which I am not sure really means anything)?
(btw - as others have noted, I cannot believe this and if this were any other show/network I can think of I think that there would be MASSIVE massive firings, this is about the worst f up I can think of).

I just finished reading through the 12 pages of replies, so I will now take this time to say:
NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now that that's out of my system, I would just like to say I'm glad I never bothered to get an account at the AS boards (I always figured that this board would have the better stuff (and I was right)).
Oh well, from a rational point of view, I guess it could just be a human error (though I can't remember the last time I saw the wrong episode airing on any network because of a human error, especially for such a huge episode).
And a few pages back, somebody compared the reacton on the AS boards to what might happen if they didn't air the last episode of Inuyasha. Considering that they haven't even ended the series in Japan yet (they're at somewhere around 130 or so eps, and the anime is still far behind the manga), I don't think they would show a dubbed version of the last ep for at least another four years.
(Yes, its off-topic, and I apologize, but I need to vent my bad mood somehow)
I wait quietly in Hawaii, not looking at any spoilers on the web, for the stupid, Daylights saving time delayed show, and then ARGH!!
*Goes off to rant and vent on something*
(Again, I apologize for my semi-rude and insane behavior)

Man, reading through the posts here kinda helps with the disappointment of not seeing ep 26 of Big O. I was at the library, studyin, had my vcr all ready to tape tonight's Adult Swim, especially Big O. Caught wind of them not showing the right ep on an Anime hub on DC++, and I brought myself over here.
I wouldn't be so mad if episodes of Big O weren't so freakin hard to find on the net. I missed pretty much all of season 1, but season 2's been so kickass. I'm sure I could find ep 26 if I looked hard enough... there's gotta be a fansub somewhere. But I might just want to wait til it gets shown in english. Dilemmas...
It doesn't help that Williams Street is within walking distance of me... I go to college right next door to them. They really better be glad that Megadeuses (sp?) are not real...

I don't ask for a whole lot in life. I am rewarded in this because I don't have a whole lot.
While it is true that there are larger issues in the world than whether or not Cartoon Network's Adult Swim division showed an episode, the non-event mattered to me. I looked forward to viewing Big O every Sunday. I'll probably never be rich or famous, but I thought it would be safe to at least count on watching a simple 30-minute anime's season two conclusion at the time it was scheduled.
Silly me.

"1). It was an honest screwup, and Big O will be aired at 2:00 am and in its normal timeslot in time zones other than the East Coast, or next week at the latest.
2). It was intentional, either as a horribly stupid prank, or possibly intended to get such a groundswell of support for Big O that it could help William Street's case for ordering more episodes of Big O.
3). Standards and Practices barred them from airing the episode at the last minute, either due to content or time. It can be expected to air whenever it gets edited.
4). Cartoon Network decided to hold off a week on airing it because sweeps start within a week and they want the rating to be part of that.

ahh this is dumb! hi by the way! i enjoy reading this board when i have the time i just never post. but i thought tonight seemed a special enough occasion to join in. everyone seems so hostile...i'll admit i was pissed at first too but...come on. all the adult swim crew must be sitting there laughing their butts off at all of us. my guess is though...that one night they were all drunk and accidentally taped over the season finale of big o and were trying to cover up by saying its a joke...until they can get another copy. and then now they're making us wait?? ahh stupid! theyre showing all 25 again..what a cheap way to try to get more viewers!
we will kill you adult swim!

Personally, I'm glad they're showing the entire series -- I haven't watched more than about three eps (although I'm already hooked

).
Currently, I'm not as pissed about this whole fiasco, as I am gently bemused. However, I can understand perfectly why this would be a pretty big thing for a lot of people.
Here's hoping they show the final Season 2 ep some time soon.
(Incidentally, they showed a Cowboy Bebop episode. Was that just because of the Halloween theme, or will they be doing it regularly on Sundays? I was just getting into that show when it got replaced by some god-awful thing called 'Kikaider'. (At least, I saw a few scenes, and it didn't give me a very good impression.))

Hello,
I've been coming to this board throughout most of the new episodes. You guys have been really helpful, I've grown to recognize a lot of you, but never really wanted to post before.
This, however, pissed me off so much I had to let ya'll know how much I'm hurt (believe me, everyone in my entire dorm, all 8 floors, must have heard my cries of pain).
I, like many of you, have been waiting over TWO YEARS for this, and I'm not happy. I got your back, guys. Let AS know that the fans will not stand for something like this, accident or not. Some people say, "calm down, wait it out," but this is an attrocity. What are the odds that it's this particular episode? *sigh*
I'm goin' to bed...see you guys in the morning...

Though the big o fans are multiplying like crazy, there are alot of people calling them whiners.
Someone needs to go there and explain to them this is not just any mix up, but a BIG ASS MOTHER f***ING sh** COCK CRAZY mix up.

Ah man, this sucks ass. Waiting all this time and no episode 26 to be seen. I personally feel that this is a prank on AS's part, and also a move made to coincide with the whole "Halloween" theme for tonight. I guess I ain't all that mad, but something good had better come out of this. And on another note, I really think the rumors that AS showed "Stripes" by accident, or that they simply had not edited the episode in time are bs. They had a whole two seasons to edit the last episode, so this is no excuse at all.

But while you're judging us for this please consider that there were folks there not directly affiliated with AS; spouses and boy/girlfriends and just friends of the staff. I think there may have even a crasher or two. But as I said, I can't be sure. I'll do some asking tommorrow.

I still stand behind the false advertising claim. Truth in Advertising Law can still be applied to television.
However, the reasoning behind airing 26 during sweeps is illogical. Everyone knows when sweeps is - so why start airing the second season in early August if the last episode would air in late October, long before sweeps starts? And I thought I was smegged up at math.
On another note, can anyone really trust the words of drunks at a party?
And I'm losing faith in CN's scheduling now. Are they really going to air all the episodes like they said they would? Or are they going to dick us around again because our reaction amuses them while they're tanked? I watch TV rarely, and one of the few things I watch is Big O because of it's intelligence and style.
Depriving Mama Tess of that is wrong.

Anybody know the approximate longitude and lattitude of the Adult Swim HQ? I need targeting information for the orbital bombardment cannons...
Seriously though, I'm not THAT pissed. I might yet have a chance to see the episode as it plays, instead of on tape. And I have time to introduce one of my friends to the series and get her all caught-up before it airs (was planning to do that last week, but we were both too busy).
Still...somebody's gettin fired for this. Either they can do it, or we can send Roger and Big O over to have a nice, quiet chat...
