Also, they're showing the Samurai Jack movie, but the series may have been moved as well. Who knows....

Dont mean to quote myself...but that was my initial reaction too, what would happen to Kenshin given the Toonami move, and the upcoming "cancellation" of the SVES block on Saturdays...

Has anyone heard that they're goin to show gundam seed on toonami?I really want to see that.

They mention Kenshin in here. Just don't mention when it'll be on. I heard that Yu Yu Hakasho was going to be pushed to June (or did I read that here? Too many web sites) but nothing about when they'd play Kenshin.

All this back and forth about Toonami and AS has been a little confusing anyway so it might be clarified later... hopefully.

I believe its already been posted in this thread, try back 2 or 3 pages...but Gundam SEED is supposed to come to Cartoon Network on April 17th...I believe it was first supposed to come to the SVES block, but with Adult Swim coming April 17th...it may show up there, or on Toonami's new Saturday block...
C.R Foxhound 04-07-2004 10:17 AM
hey, how come AS is doing promos for thier comedy stuff but not for thier Saturday lineup

or am i missing out?
StevieV019 04-07-2004 03:45 PM
Not a clue, my friend. I imagine they dont need to worry about garnering too many viewers when it comes to action anime...the results are there from Bebop, Trigun, Big O, Witch Hunter Robin...etc.

I think the main thing is that the comedy is brand new stuff that Cartoon Network probably had a strong hand in getting or making. I have seen the Toonami commercials, why there arent any Adult Swim ones is kind of perplexing....

I am very pleased to announce this bit of news...courtesy of animationinsider.net:

If you think Tom Cruise is really The Last Samurai, then you don’t know Jack! On May 4, Warner Home Video (WHV) wields a powerful sword with the debut of the two-disc collector’s set Samurai Jack: Season One, from the critically-acclaimed Cartoon Network animated series. Featuring all 13 original episodes from the debut season available for the first time ever on DVD, Samurai Jack: Season One will be priced to own at $29.98 SRP.

Long Ago in a Distant Land…

From Genndy Tartakovsky, the acclaimed creator of Cartoon Network’s animated “mocro-series” Star Wars: Clone Wars, comes the tale of a young samurai cast far into a high-tech future by the evil shape-shifting wizard Aku. Jack’s only goal is to find a time portal so that he may return home to liberate his people from the terrible sorcerer and his demon forces that rule the world. Join Samurai Jack on the solitary warrior’s quest to return to the past and undo the destruction that Aku has wrought upon the land.

A man of few words, Jack relies on his training as a warrior, combining intellect, restraint and physical strength, to help him along the way. Known for the series’ innovative artwork, riveting musical score and intricate, action-packed plots, the many journeys of Samurai Jack are a must for any fan’s collection.

Currently airing in its fourth season on Cartoon Network, Samurai Jack has been honored with an Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Animation and has won five Annie Awards including Outstanding Character Design in an Animated Television Program. Samurai Jack features the voices of Phil La Marr (Mad TV) and Mako (Pearl Harbor), and Season One includes special guest appearances by Mark Hamill (Star Wars) and Tim Curry (The Rocky Horror Picture Show).

“Samurai Jack is truly a Cartoon Network original,” said Christine Martinez, WHV Vice President, Non-theatrical Franchise Marketing. “With its visionary images, distinctive storytelling that pays homage to various cultures, hyper-kinetic action and an instant cult following stemming from the huge popularity of Dexter’s Laboratory, Samurai Jack is a remarkable sword-swinging adventure cartoon that appeals to audiences of all ages.”

"Choosing to release Samurai Jack: Season One as Cartoon Network's first Collector Series DVD was a natural decision for us, as this series set a new standard for television animation when it was introduced. With this release, the legend will continue to grow," said John Friend, senior vice president, Cartoon Network enterprises. "Working closely with Samurai Jack creator Genndy Tartakovsky, we have created a collection that matches the artistry of the series and will satisfy the most sophisticated audience."

RUMOR...RUMOR...RUMOR...RUMOR

Here's a quick rumor that I read over at http://www.toonamiinfolink.com/:
_________________________________________
Will Jack defeat Aku? Maybe not...

I'm unsure whether to confirm this or not. With just four episodes to go (well, technically three; one of them aired in the UK), the plug may have been pulled on Samurai Jack, according to a supposed Email sent to Cartoon Network.

Supposedly, Samurai Jack, has been cancelled and the last 4 episodes may or may not run on CN. Sad to hear, at least for me. I liked that show....

OF COURSE...ALL OF THIS IS RUMOR...I have yet to hear anything official about it....
taaudoloran 04-25-2004 06:41 AM
I'd say that Samurai Jack rumor is definately just that. With the release of the DVD, it would not make sense to cancel it at all.

So, any news on Kenshin? My dad and I really liked that show.
Ano Hito 05-08-2004 09:27 PM
What I'm wondering about is Yuu Yuu. I wanna see it in English or Japanese, durn it! I've only seen the one where everyone goes around screaming "EUGENE!!!!!!!" at Yuusuke and Kazuma is called Alfred or something like that.

So confusing...

Although Go Fish had previously stated that Innocence would be released in North America in the spring of 2004, it now seems that the movie will actually make it to North American theatres on September 17th. Meanwhile United International Pictures has picked up the European rights to the movie. Source: Y! Japan"

This may be considered old news, or maybe has been around the rumor mill a bit...but for Family Guy fans, this may make you happy:

courtesy of: animationinsider.net

"FOX announced today that the fourth season of Family Guy will debut on the network in the summer of 2005. New episodes will also premiere on Cartoon Network.

Fresh off the success of its top-selling DVDs, Creator/Executive Producer Seth MacFarlane serves up a fourth season of the animated comedy Family Guy. The subversive series presents the everyday trials and tribulations of family life, but with the distinctive twist and irreverent slant that only animation can provide.

Peter Griffin (MacFarlane) is the father of this not-quite-so-average family of middle-class New Englanders. Lois (Alex Borstein) is Peter's loving wife, who struggles to maintain a modicum of normalcy in their home life. Rounding out the Griffin household are their children: 16-year-old, angst-ridden Meg (Mila Kunis); 13-year-old sweet-natured Chris( Seth Green); and 1-year-old Stewie (MacFarlana), a diabolically clever baby who's already set on conquering the world. And then there's Brian (MacFarlane), the brainiest of the bunch, who also happens to be the family dog.

There is no official word yet on whether or not new episodes will premiere on Cartoon Network or FOX first.

Interesting news....if you're a Star Wars Fan...

posted at animationinsider.net:

Following the success of the animated Star Wars: Clone Wars this past November, Lucasfilm Ltd. and Cartoon Network announced today that they will present five action-packed nights of a brand-new Clone Wars mini-series from award-winning animator Genndy Tartakovsky beginning March 21, 2005.

While the original episodes of Star Wars: Clone Wars were just three minutes long, each installment of the new Clone Wars animated mini-series, which has yet to be titled, will be 12 minutes - promising viewers four times the excitement, adventure and intrigue as they lead into the long-awaited Star Wars: Episode III, which is scheduled for release in theaters on May 19, 2005.

Tartakovsky (Samurai Jack, Dexter's Laboratory), who produced the first highly rated, critically lauded "micro-series," will serve as director, co-screenwriter and executive producer of the new Star Wars: Clone Wars animated mini-series. Cartoon Network will air the new mini-series from March 21 to March 25 with limited commercial interruptions.

Star Wars: Clone Wars features such fabled characters as Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Padmé Amidala, Mace Windu and Anakin Skywalker in the ongoing battle of the Army of the Republic against a vast uprising spearheaded by the Separatists and their massive droid armies. The new mini-series will include an expanded role for a brand-new villain, General Grievous, military leader of all the Separatist armies, who will play a pivotal role in Star Wars: Episode III.

Star Wars: Clone Wars continues the saga where the popular feature film Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones left off - at the beginning of the Clone Wars, an epic civil war that pits the old Republic against a vast Separatist movement led by the forces of evil.

Star Wars: Clone Wars is being produced at Cartoon Network Studios by a team led by Tartakovsky. It is the first animated property starring the central characters of the Star Wars saga. In the first 10 chapters, Obi-Wan Kenobi, serving as a general in the Army of the Republic, led a team of elite clone troopers in a battle on the planet of Muunilinst. There, he encountered a tenacious bounty hunter named Durge and San Hill, a leader of the Separatist movement. Jedi Kit Fisto led an aquatic assault on the Clone Army on the water planet of Mon Calamari. And Count Dooku recruited Dark Jedi Asajj Ventress for a special mission - to assassinate Anakin Skywalker. In chapters 11 to 20, the action continued as Anakin pursued Ventress to Yavin 4 after a fierce dogfight, and eventually confronted her in a fearsome lightsaber battle. Meanwhile, Mace Windu led his troops against an enormous seismic tank in a skirmish on the plains of Dantooine, and Jedi Luminara Unduli and Barriss Offee fought to protect the sacred Jedi caverns on the planet Ilum. In the end, the Jedi confronted their greatest threat on the planet Hypori: General Grievous.
