This is a Lain avatar. This was one of the better ones I created. Of course, this created some concern with some of the members, saying that I always use an "in your face" style. After this, I changed my style completely.
I can't believe I forgot to say this after all this time, but thanks for the compliment, Zola.
Trisa, you always have the nicest avatars!

Being as no one seems to understand what my avatar is, I guess I might as well come out and say it: it's a cross of light, cast over an (apparently limitless) ocean.
It's original form is much larger (as it is desktop wallpaper) and has a lot less contrast; I made some modifications to make it somewhat clearer in its (much) smaller form. I also purposely increased the contrast so the cross of light stood out a lot more...I think it makes the light a little more "real."
As for a meaning..? Well, Tifaria touched on it in the Rate the Avatar thread: it's a very calming image, for one. Furthermore, it's supposed to reflect a few things about myself. First, my faith (and not just of the religious kind, mind you!)...second, my hope. Along the same vein, the image (at least in my mind) reflects a more spiritual nature, another reason why it's currently my avatar; it also serves to reflect the self-reflection and soul-searching I've been undergoing the last month or so.
Those are just some of the myriad reasons I've chosen this particular image as my avatar...there are some reasons I'm not so sure even I myself comprehend at this time. I will say that it's certainly not so shallow a reason as "it looks pretty" or "it makes my posts look nicer" or any other physical or aesthetic reason, as some seem to believe. There is always a method to my madness, and more often than not, it does not pertain to the flesh.
I hope that made a little sense and provides at least
some insight into my current avatar.

My current avatar is a picture of General Grievous from Star Wars Episode III The Revenge of the Sith. He is the infamous leader of the droid armies and likes to hunt Jedi for sport. Grievous wears the lightsabers of the Jedi slain by him around his waist. A true badass...

Mine is a celtic circle. For me, it represents my close friends and those who have been brought into the circle. It spins because that's how our lives go, like a wheel of time. Everything and everyone is intertwined. Whether you like it or not!

Just in case some wonder why I gave up the ol' Lain avy I've had forever, here's what I had sent to Trisa in a PM

:
"The avatar is of a mythological being called Aido Hwedo. It's from the Fon people of West Africa, and it's one of the various snake-related symbols around the world for eternity - like the Uroborus. I chose it because: 1), I like snakes

; 2), I like West African mythology; and 3), I like philosophical symbols of eternity and the idea of the infinite

."
Basically, I love every concept - scientific, mythological, or philisophical - that concerns matters of time and its associates - including memory and the notion of temporal order - and the texture of reality. That, in a nutshell, is what I loved about Lain in the first place, as well as Big O

.
Peace

)
Gotta love the folding door, portable holes, and tons of Nitro this guy has used...can't tell you how I wish I could be like that

Mine now sports a depressed Black Jack from the new anime. I chose this one because he's never this mopey. He's supposed to be shady and surly, not mopey. Besides, this was just a bit more intersting than normal, I guess.

My avatar is a caption of one of the Covenant's fierce Hunters. These massive behemoths stand at an awe-inspiring twelve feet, although they retract to eight when fighting. Hunters are covered in powerful armor and they have an almost impenetrable shield mounted on their left arm, which can be used as a brutal melee weapon when the situation calls for it. A fuel rod cannon is set in place on top of their right arm; this weapon can devastate groups of marines and easily lays waste to their vehicles. These monsters are deployed in pairs, but their incredible size is sometimes a disadvantage due to the cramped environments encountered in human cities.
