Do you think after what we see of Angel's last location, she'll be "beck"?

You're worse than ACT.
--------------------------------
I can't believe what a bitch Manga Angel is. She's such a bitch. I mean, those of you who've read vol. 6 know what she did. You see how she's a bitch. I mean, really. Guh. Meanie >_< she's like a horrible person. She would impress Alan.
-------------------------------

I love the graphics in the back of the books. I wonder if I could send the scans I took to the site. Even if these books are translated we prolly won't get all the nice graphics.

This one's pretty funny. So I guess americans are supose to be bad influences? lol

Manga Angel and Alan very, very, very scary.

We really missed out on some nice extras in the Viz release. No mini posters,no charachter designs I dont think we got all the mini comics either. We probably wouldnt get the Lost Memory extras either.

So how many mini comics and extra graphics do you think we missed out on? I think only the second manga has the mini comic in the english version and I think that's the one with the interview and concept art. There's not anything in the others except for those editors comics.

Why don't I post what's extra in the English versions and someone else can do the same for the Japanese ones. Then we can compare...

---------------------------------
Vol. 1 (english):
1 pg: Artist's Comic - introduces the manga crew.
1 pg: Assistant Page - shows Dorothy in a Big O armor.
1 pg: Gallery of covers of the original comics.

---------------------------------
Vol. 2 (english):
10 pgs: Paradigm Gallery - sample artwork with comments below
7 pgs: Interview #1 with Big O creators
1 pg: Assistant Page - shows Dorothy holding a mop w/ Instro
4 pgs: Mini comic - Dorothy lulls a tire Roger to sleep
1 pg: Gallery of covers of the original comics.

---------------------------------
Vol. 3 (english):
1 pg: Artist's Comic - artist is tired from work.
1 pg: Assistant Page - shows Dorothy attacking Beck with knife
1 pg: Gallery of covers of the original comics.

---------------------------------
Vol. 4 (english):
1 pg: Gallery of covers of the original comics.

---------------------------------
Vol. 5 (english):
1 pg: Artist's Comic - artist is wondering around.
1 pg: Assistant Page - shows Dorothy riding a scooter

---------------------------------
Vol. 6 (english):
1 pg: Artist's Comic - artist is compares manga with anime.
1 pg: Assistant Page - shows Angel holding a gun

---------------------------------

So it looks like after Vol. 2, they got totally lazy! Frown You think they will put out an extra's issue? I've seen that for some Manga, like Appleseed.

This is what R-Umino posted earlier about the Japanese Vol. 3 and 6.

Here is a comparison of those volumes. It may be possible that some extras are put into other volumes so I'm not 100% sure about the comparisons. If this is not so, then we got totally ripped! Also, R-Umino didn't mention the Artist's comic and Assistant Page... perhaps what we see as a 'bonus' is really just the normal stuff for manga. Those guys at VIZ are thinking: why give them a steak when they'll jump for a stick!

I am currently reading the first one, but it seems so much like the first episodes. If it is the same , I see no reason to read it, if I can just watch it with no need to think.

If yo havent noticed, Thinking isnt something I like to do
badbob001 04-19-2004 02:58 PM
The only similar stories I can think of are:
- Last story in vol 1: similar to episode 1
- First story in vol 2: similar to episode 2
- A story in vol 4: somewhat similar to the Big Duo attack.

So except for the introduction of Dorothy, you should find the stories to be quite different.

badbob001 04-19-2004 07:06 PM
Hey BIGMEGA, that was awesome! Thanks.

Now it seems like the English version got almost nothing in terms of extras. I am havin trouble find where some of the extras from the english versions came from:

- English vol 2's 7 page interview with Katayama, Arita, and Sato. It's titled Paradigm Pub, which may match the one in the japanese vol 3. It's interview #1 and the japanese vol 4. has another interview. Were we cheated out of the second interview?

- The bonus comic in the english vol 2 involves Norman and Dorothy. Could that be the comic in the japanese vol 5?

-The 10 page gallery in the english vol 2 doesn't seem to match any of the japanese galleries. Could it be unique to the english version? Here are the pages:
1 Dorothy standing with comic panels in background
2 Whitish Big O walking through the streets
3 Action sequence of Big O fighting an enemy
4 Poster of Roger standing in front of a gallery of other casts
5 Poster of Roger running in front of a gallery of enemies
6 Shot of a dark street inside the Dome with Roger in shadows
7 Angel standing with comic panels in background
8 Angel talking to Roger from the top of some stairs
9 Some random panels with Beck, Dorothy, and Soldano
10 Some random panels of the Roger family

- Japanese Vol 2: Mini poster of Dorothy in front of Dorothy 1. This may be the back cover of English Vol 2.

- Japanese Vol 4: Mini poster of Big O and Big Duo in combat. This may be the back cover of English Vol. 4.

- Japanese vol 5: Mini poster of Roger walking down the street in the snow. This may be the back cover of Enlish Vol. 5.

- Japanese vol 6: Mini poster of Roger,Dorothy and Big O. This may be the back cover of English Vol. 6.

What a mess. I'm so tempted to just get the Japanese versions right now... but probably not really worth it. Maybe I can find a Japanese bookstore and sneak a peek.

I think you're right about the mini posters being on the back cover of the us books but I think they croped them.

The english vol 2 bonous comic is the same as the Japanese vol 2 I think.

the 10 page gallery sounds like the same as the Japanese version but I could be wrong.

Japanese vol 2 interviews kazuyoshi katayama, hitoshi ariga and kehchi sato. japanese volume 3 interviews kazuyoshi katayama, hitoshi ariga and kehchi sato. volume 4 interview is title paradigm cafe and has drawings under the title of Roger Smith, mitsuru miyamoto and hitoshi ariga.
I hope I got all that right.

I don't know for certain but we may have missed an interview.

I have the english volumes but I really do Like having the Japanese books. It's got those little extras I like.Plus the artwork is not flipped.

Maybe I should look at it with fresh eyes tomorrow, well as fresh as they can be after working all day.

Glad I could help out some.

Really, the stories are quite different. You won't be sorry. Trust me, it won't hurt your brain one bit.

Could you please tell me how you got to read the manga. I'd really like to know. How do you read it online?
badbob001 04-29-2004 04:14 PM
Strange. I had a Big O manga-related dream this morning:

I was in a Japanese bookstore with my sister. I was looking for vol 6 of the Japanese manga and just found the last copy. I flipped through it and noticed all the exta mini-comics in the end that the english translation didn't get. Then I noitced that the last mini-comic was already translated into english, which made me dream-think, "Those bastards at Viz...". Suddenly, I had an urge to own all the other Japanese volumes, so I began looking. Sadly, there were no copied of Big O left, even in the "secret" storage nook behind the neat rows of books. As I was waiting in line to pay, I spy another manga named Giant Robot, which showed a vintage looking robot updated with a LCD face. I thought, "Nah, not interested."

Then I woke up. Damn, I wonder what other Big O dreams had I been having if I could remember them!
IanC 05-01-2004 04:47 PM
Vol 6 of the manga is really weird. Only got round to reading it today. It felt like the artist had to hurry it up abit.

I just got the Big O manga and Beck's girlfriend kicks ass. I'd like to see her and Angel in a cat fight.

Beck's girlfriend's too much of a coward for that, and I'm sure Angel wouldn't bother.

I do like his girlfriend though. She's like a groupie. I wonder if we'll find out her name in Lost Memory?

I'm not sure if she would fight Angel. Angel seems to be an alley cat in the Manga series. In contrast, this check seems to be another T-Bone and Dove; same motivation, same lack of pride. So, I believe she would react to Angel in the same fashion as the other henchmen would to Roger and Dorothy, she'll probably run.
Madrona 05-06-2004 08:39 AM
I have all six of the manga and a questions haunts my mind.
Why is Roger always sweating? ?Sweatdrop I know this is the manga way of saying he's stressing, but really!

Another question I have is if I did some manipulation of manga art, should I post it in the Nightengale or here
