I knew of the impending doom of the website so I did a copy of it. Here is one of the two Roger's Mono from the website. Is the one from the Guide book as small as this or <gasp> smaller? I can only assume the original was the size of a DVD case... too bad no one has a scan of those.

They're along the lines of <gasp> Shocked smaller to small if you ask me thats why I wish they were a full page so I enjoy the full beauty of those pages.I was hoping they would have been larger than the ones on the website when I ordered the book but that was'nt the case but the book was still worth the money.

The look of 'Lost Memory' is different from that of the previous title. The characters and the world still look the same, they're still drawn the same but Ariga seems much more comfortable with them. I was a bit disturbed by Roger when he freaked out about Dorothy
spoiler (highlight to read):
in the bandages
because it was so dramatically different from what I'd come to expect from Ariga. Roger's hallucinations were fantastic. I don't know how to describe it. Sometime between the last title and 'Lost Memory' Ariga's storytelling skill improved exponentially. The original Big O was very consistant, you knew what you could expect from it when it came to the visuals.

In 'Lost Memory' Ariga has stepped out of his comfort zone and it looks like he's having a lot of fun with it. 'The Big O' manga is sterile in comparison, almost like Ariga was just going through the motions of making a manga, his heart wasn't really in it. Maybe he's been watching Big O? Dead tired zombie Roger was funny, hallucination Norman cracks me up everytime, and the film strips showed a jump Ariga's creativity since 'The Big O' or maybe just a boost in his confidence in his abilities as an artist.

He even makes use of metaphor
spoiler (highlight to read):
for example; the entire town wears bandages but they aren't aware of it (Remember Dorothy only notices the bandages when Roger points them out to her) and the baby (I nicked-named him 'Andy' because I think he looks like an android ^_^

spoiler (highlight to read):
Roger most certainly bought Dorothy the nightgown. I'm getting more and more unhappy with the idea of a romantic relationship between manga Roger and Dorothy. A brother/sister relationship with them not only makes a lot more sense but it's very cute. I'm all for anime Roger and Dorothy being together, those two are obviously in love.

It's kind of ironic really. Manga Dorothy isn't very human and still Roger looks for every opportunity he can to point out her humanity. He even tells her that she'll get the whole being human thing given time. Whenwhile anime Dorothy is not only pretty human but she's also in love with Roger. And Roger doesn't miss an opportunity to put her humanity into question. Of course he does get it after awhile and he only has doubts because he's afriad that he might be falling in love with someone that can't love him in return. Actually it's kinda cute. ^_^

spoiler (highlight to read):
I love manga Pero. He's so much cuter than anime Pero ::dodges objects thrown:: . I really hope they translate these manga, there might be 30 pages in these books that are just Roger and Dorothy talking to each other. Nothing much is going on, they're just talking. I'm kind of conflicted about the Pero chapter. On one hand I want manga Roger and Dorothy to have a brother sister relationship. On the other hand; I know Ariga is trying to push their relationship into a more romantic place, I only wish he hadn't decided to do it so late in the game. But still it's cute the way Roger and Dorothy try to figure out the whole cat thing together. It's a very couple-ish thing to do. There's one panel I found particularly interesting.

Dorothy has been playing the piano. Roger is sitting on the couch facing her, he looks like he's had a hard day and is enjoying playing with the kitten (it's so cute! The kitty fits in the palm of his hand!). Roger and Dorothy are talking when Dorothy becomes disturbed by something and goes to stand next to the window. The panel I'm interested in shows the window from the outside looking in, Dorothy has her hand on the window and is looking outside while Roger has gotten up and is walking towards her with this sweet 'I'm trying to convince you of something' look on his face. I dunno, maybe if I could read these my oppinion of manga Dorothy+Roger would change. There might be enough development in the dialogue to make it work.

Beautiful books all and all. I was hoping maybe there might be more 'Lost Memory' manga coming out. But I don't think so now. The last page of the manga #2 in the first page of vol. 6: Dorothy walking alone in the city. It would be nice if there were more. Maybe Ariga could pick up where he left off on Vol. 6 or explore why Dorothy was walking on the docks by herself the morning she was attacked.

::yawn::

Okay, I tired.

I'm still upset there's a chapter for manga Pero, and Eugene only appears in one panel.

*me cries*

Lost Memory definitely need to be translated by Viz or another publisher so we can have a more complete story to The Big O manga.

Lost Memory looks like they may be the best in the whole series they're great to look at but I bet the story is excellent.

Unfortunately I think Lost Memory is completed but they could always do a vol 3 and have it take place after vol 6 of the first series or they could just come up with a whole new name. I just think they have more stories they can tell since vol 6 seemed to leave the world open for more stories if they wanted to do more .

BIGMEGA out.

You know, you might have some luck buying it online instead of locally.
Tabris-kun 04-18-2004 05:33 PM

Anybody know where to buy vol. 6 in Louisville, Kentucky??? Big Grin
Pygmalion 04-18-2004 07:35 PM
If there is a comic store locally, you can order through them. If there is a book store, you can order through them. You can find them on eBay, you can order through a number of online anime stores, or you can get them through Amazon.

That's about the list of places I would try.

If you do order it from a bookstore of some sort you're going to have to give them the exact name of the book and the author. Having the ISBN wouldn't hurt either.

Wow, I just recieved volume 6 and I must say:

spoiler (highlight to read):
My Dorothy! My poor Dorothy! I hope this is not the last one. I hope they plan for another. I cannot stand the fact that Angel turned her into a vegetable.

That's why I would pick Dorothy over Angel. Arg!!!

She may not be a vegetable, she was able to get out of that chair grab an umbrella and go out and find where Roger and Big O were fighting so maybe she will gradually regain her memory without a disk some how.Maybe she has a little hard drive in her head with important memorys as a backup or something.

I wonder about that last page that has nothing but the name roger on it do you think that maybe that's what shes thinking because I believe she did say she would never forget him.

I would stay as far away from angel a possible you never know what she might do to you.

Do you think after what we see of Angel's last location, she'll be "beck"?

You're worse than ACT.

I can't believe what a bitch Manga Angel is. She's such a bitch. I mean, those of you who've read vol. 6 know what she did. You see how she's a bitch. I mean, really. Guh. Meanie >_< she's like a horrible person. She would impress Alan.

Under normal curcumtances I might love her more for it.
spoiler (highlight to read):
But you DO NOT attack Dora.

It's just not done.

I love the graphics in the back of the books. I wonder if I could send the scans I took to the site. Even if these books are translated we prolly won't get all the nice graphics.

This one's pretty funny. So I guess americans are supose to be bad influences? lol
