Season 3 Snail Mail Campaign

Razor Wolf 02-14-2004 02:57 AM
I sent a letter out to CN on Jan. 4, and on Thursday (Feb. 12) I recieved a Cow & Chicken postcard with the handwritten message: "Thanks for your letter. We are looking into future episodes of 'Big O'. Keep watching!"

Seems like CN isn't sure if Season 3 would be profitable. I think the best way to show interest is to keep sending letters and buying merchandise.

i agree fully! ok everybody let double haul it!! letz make it a reality!!!

Just my 2¢--I think everyone who sends in a letter or postcard should include a small tomato drawing, to show fan unity.

I sent in an e-mail awhile back. After seeing episode 26, me and my fiance will definitely be sending in a letter.

Wow what a fast response!

Today is Tuesday, the 17th of February, and I mailed my letter back on the 10th of feb, which was last tuesday. Sunday mail doesnt run, and yesterday was a holiday so it didn't run either. So i got my Cow and Chicken postcard 5 days after mailing out my letter. Pretty speedy!

Of course I'm in florida, and they're close by in Georiga, so I'm sure that was a factor.

Hand written in blue ink:

"Thank you for your letter. We have received your request for more Big O. In the meantime, keep watching!"

I was hoping they'd at least acknowledge that they were considering an season three. :\ o well!

I will be writing letters to get more Big O and so will my step mother (who fell in love with the series after we watched the first seqason on DVD a couple nights ago). Hopefully we can get our season three if enough of us show support and send letters.

Did Cartoon Network really send you back a letter!?! That's so cool! I'm gonna definitely write them a letter now to request season three, 'cause now I have no reasons not to!
CoCoaPuFF CatX 02-20-2004 12:20 AM
Hey i have an idea letz all start a petition!!! and send it in to cartoon network! letz call it like Demand Your Big O! (season 3) Change the name if you want!! but letz get like 200 or 300 sigs. it should be fun!! lets show how much we love big o! and we could also send in one of the shorter fanfictions to let them know how we past the time on waiting on a season 3!! let show em that we appriate them making a season 2!!

Pettitions don't work. Even moderators at the AS website said so.

Plus angry letters saying "I want more big o now!!!!!!!!!" won't help.

But, your fanfiction idea is pretty cool!, maybe even enclose a copy of some fan art.

I bet it its good they'll post it on their bulliten boards and it will remind them about big o everyday.

I sent a message today on a Last Exile post card I got from the 2nd DVD.

I basically said, "Thanks to all who helped make a Season 2 possible for the U.S."

I also emphasized that watching Big O led me to see shows like FLCL, Inu-Yasha, and Trigun.

Then I finished by saying "Please bring a Season 3 of Big O. THANKS!"

I tried to stress that watching Big O made me enjoy more of their shows, that it was a "gateway" to more of their broadcasts. Hopefully, that counts for something.

I'll let you know when I get a reply.

After reading this, I think this is a good idea. As soon as I can get ahold of a stamp, I'm sending in my letter. I might enclose a pic of my favorite negotiator too. Maybe I could ask for unedited G Gundam too . . .

*scratches chin*

Looks to me by their responses, they're sorta bound not to reveal untill a certain time (perhaps when it's done) that there will be a Season 3.

I know for a fact that if S2 performed well (and it did) S3 was an option in the contract. If I remember my details right, it was a 26 episode set for S3.

If that's the case, and S3 has double the episodes, I can only assume S3 would be THE LAST.

In any case, I am fully comfy knowing that S3 will come. But why did they send Cow and Chicken postcards? It a FRIGGIN ADULT SWIM show!!!!

Send out some InuYasha... Big O... Cowboy Bebop... Hell send out some ATHF if you want. Just not COW and CHICKEN!!!!

>.<

How long before S2 aired did you learn that it was being/had been made?
Schoolie 03-11-2004 06:05 PM
I think it was at least a good year from the time I heard about Big O Season 2 until it actually aired.

For some reason, I think remember hearing about it in the Spring of 2002, and then it aired in America in the Fall of 2003. One reason it seemed to take forever was because it aired first in Japan and then came to Cartoon Network. I don't remember being too upset about it; I was just happy that whole year/year-and-a-half knowing that it would eventually arrive.

Anybody else have a better memory?
Dork 03-17-2004 12:30 AM
Well, I kinda figured a third season would be set in the reset Paradigm only with certain players with their memories somehow in tact concerning the information in the 1st and 2nd seasons.

A good writer, with proper fore-thought, can resolve any seemingly impossible conflict.

So it is kind of pointless to write to these guys, since it would be extremely hard to even think up ideas for a third season of one of the greatest shows of all time.

I'm guessing from this that you've seen the version of "The Show Must Go On" which ends with the merging of Big O and Big Venus. As originally shown, there was an additional 30 seconds of film echoing the opening credits of "Roger the Negotiator" with some differences:

1. We see Dorothy and Angel, standing together, among the shots of those watching Roger go by. Dorothy is wearing her black Smith Mansion dress.

2. Roger does not look at his watch and press the accelerator pedal.

This 30 second clip (which included English credits for the Sunrise crew, a nice gesture to their English-speaking audience) was removed when CN replaced the original second-season credits with the sped-up credits from "Eyewitness" in Big O's second full run this winter.

There has been vast speculation as to just when this scene is placed, but there seems little doubt that at the end of the show, there is a Paradigm City, and it still is a city of amnesia.

One possible season 3 was demonstrated by A Clockwork Tomato in his Acts 27-39.

I've had plenty of time to think over what an S3 could actually be about. With the way the series ends their couldn't possibly have another 26 or even 13 episodes to explain what went on. They could, however, explore the differences that were shown at the end of 26 (which I finally got to see - big thanks to AS for not cutting it out this time). There's a ton of things they could go into since there's still a ton of mysteries to explore but it would be interesting to see, if there is an S3, what it would be about.
Zopwx2 03-21-2004 08:18 PM
I want a 3rd season. And this thread isn't to discuss wether or not there should be one.

Its for people to discuss ways and the results of sending in request letters to CN.

I'm going to write a letter my self pretty soon.
YoruameBaroness 03-22-2004 12:54 PM
I take it CN HQ is very slow with responding, because it's been two months since I sent in my letter and I haven't heard back from them yet.

Wasted my $0.37 . . .>_< Oh well, it went for a good cause.
AndroidZeroX 03-26-2004 08:09 AM
i just finished reading Clockwork's Act 27, and I found it to be a great idea, I think that it could be possible to make a third season, but I kind of like Dork's idea that the third season would take place in the reset paradigm City, with certain people having their memories. That idea and Clockwork's idea should be merged into one, and it would make a great third season. I can definetly see that happening. And I bet they will make a third season of Big O.
Hanyou 04-02-2004 03:23 PM
I actually wrote a follow-up to episode 26...then I joined the forums and found out ACT wrote one.

Ah, well, his was incredible anyway.

I just hope a season three does not have a megadeus battle at the end of every episode...make it one continuous story. Season 2 was less episodic than season 1, and season three should be even less episodic than season 2.

That would make the show must better. Less Bigs, more story.
