I'm sending a postcard (out of Newtype magazine of s.CRY.ed's Ryuhou as a subliminal message to pick the show up for TV) to Cartoon Network giving them props for what they did for us. Also giving them an idea of what demographic I fit in (single Asian college male in Bay Area suburbs) & how gladly we'll watch more episodes & spread the word through message boards, word of mouth & leaving as many TVs on in our houses to show the ratings folks all the household TV receivers are tuned in to the Big-O.
Anyone else write anything interesting in their letters to CN?

WHOS WITH ME!!!
Let's all sign a petition and send it in a huge crate to AS hq
we'll need 400 signatures...anybody's will do...even forged...a box of peanuts, a week old Trout, and some Orange soda! LET'S GO!!!!!!
*runs off with everyone still staring at him*
But on a serious note, I do think a HUGE FRIGGIN petition would work just fine

We should each send an individual letter or postcard. I think that 500 people spending the money and time to send 500 letters (from all over the country) is more impressive than 500 people sending one package.
In the TV world, they live and die by numbers, often referred to as ratings. The higher the numbers, the better for the show. Why would it not be the same in writing to a network?
Besides, it is easy for John Doe to sign a petition if somebody walks up and just asks for his signature, then takes care of the rest. However, if John Doe actually writes his own letter, rather than just signing a petition, he shows true individual dedication to a cause (rather than being caught up in the herd mentality).
In closing, we should each send our own letters to the address graciously provided at the top of the forum. However, I think it would be OK if we developed a form letter of some kind for use by individuals who do not know quite what to write, or haven't the time. I believe that there was a writing student who posted earlier in the forum and has some experience in this area.
Send postcards, I mean. They might think there is anthrax in the letters, as posted earlier. Or bad food, or mice, or ticks, or something like that. With postcards, you get your message across faster than letters and there are no surprises. Which is good, unless you like ticks.

Well I got a surprise in the mail recently, a postcard from Cartoon Network. I really wasn't expecting a reply of any sort.
There is printed message that's just part of the postcard in the top left corner:
"Dear Friend,
Thanks for Writting!
We Appeciate your comments...
Keep Watching Cartoon Network!"
Then a handwritten message in blue pen below:
"Season 3 of "Big O" is undetermined right now.
We will keep you posted on any new developments."
Nothing for certain in the answer but perhaps there is some delevopements in the works. To me it's a 50/50 chance right now.
Anyone else get any reply back from them?

Crap! I knew I should have put a return address on my postcard! =\
How long ago did you send your postcard?

I sent a letter. According to an earier post I mailed it out Nov. 4th and the postmark date on the postcard from them is Nov. 21st.
So it was quite fast actually. I'm not sure what day the post card arrived here as someone just handed me some mail they said came the "other day". I hate when that happens.

Dear Cartoon Network,
Thank you for co-producing “The Big O” season 2. It is a show that had my family in front of the TV every Sunday evening during its first run on Adult Swim. We enjoy the repeats too, although it is on too late for my children; they have to watch the recording. This is a show that shows us something new with each repeat.
I understand that the contract with Bandai/Sunrise allowed for a third season of 26 episodes. I would very much like to see this come to fruition, as I believe “The Big O” has a setting and characters that can easily support another 26 stories.
Sincerely,
Black Phoenix |

Wow.
That response gives me some hope. If the last part hadn't been handwritten I wouldn't put much faith in it . . . but the fact that somebody bothered to add it on to the form letter gives it much more authenticity. If CN had already decided not to produce Season 3 then whoever wrote that last part of the response would have just said so . . .
Way to go, Chibi Dorothy! Now I need to hurry up and send off my own letter so I can get a nice response too . . .

Dear Karen,
Thank you for your letter.
We are glad you enjoy our show!
Keep watching!

I see from this that we have not yet ruined Mr. Clayton's handwriting, and that the Williams Street postage meter had not been reset for postcard postage!
Nice to get a quick response.

Cartoon Network will be getting a letter from me, something like this:
Dear Cartoon Network Programming,
I am upset with the changes that have been made to The Big O, season 2. We have seen the ending credits sped up (and sometimes the wrong credits used for an episode), the telephone ring announcing the next episode being cut, and even the final screen "To be continued" deleted, but this takes the cake.
To cut the final 33 seconds of "The Show Must Go On"? This is the resolution to the whole season, Angel's answer to Roger's negotiation; to cut this is mind-boggling. It smacks of rewriting the show.
Perhaps this was done on purpose. I'd like to think that Cartoon Network and Bandai/Sunrise wanted to make the hoped-for third season a little easier to lead into by ending season 2 in the control room. But I am afraid that the reason is simply that the final scene was cut because there were credits mixed in with the activity, and someone had orders to "run the sped-up credits when the show's credits start."
If this were merely done to allow another 30 seconds of commercial time, let me suggest another piece of dead air that could be used instead -- the bumper cards at the beginning, bracketing the commercials, and at the end of the show. Cutting these to a 5-second [adult swim] card would give enough space for at least one more 30 second spot.
I hope the next airing of the Big O will be done with all content restored and the correct end credits on the episodes. I'd hate to think that the only way to see the show as it was intended is to turn off Cartoon Network and watch only the DVDs.

Preach it sister!!
And if they don't at least listen to your letter, that tingling sensation that they will be feeling in the seat of their pants, will be my boot in their ass!

Someone on the AS boards claimed to have seen an advertisement in a magazine (Newtype?) for a season 3. I somehow doubt they'd advertise this early though.
I have lurked here on this forum for a while but after seeing the Season 2 reruns for the first time, I am very much in favor of at least a few more episodes.

So you're looking for a "Please bring a new season of Big O" and not "Please bring a new season of Big O or I'll DESTROY YOU! EHYAUHFAIDS!" ?

i wouldn't exactly say please but i would push my way but i wouldn't threaten cuz usally when you threaten that pisses ppl off and makes them not even wanna do what you want them to do! see and since they have to fund it see were i'm goin itz not like were gonna go down to cartoon network and burn them down you see so threats are kinda stupid but then again it could wor tjhe other way around!
I've hand written and mailed a letter to CN today. I'm posting this so if I get any kind of response back, I'd like to see exactly how long it took.
Here's hoping for season 3!

Thanks,
Then I Included my own Scribbly depiction of Big O,Roger, and Dorothy.
