Heavy Metal sucked. And this is coming from a guy who loves sense-less fighting, gore, cursing, and nudity.
If I want to watch something in bad taste that's GOOD, I'll stick with Go Nagai and John Waters.

You would compare Go Nagai to Heavy Metal? Umino, any respect I had for your taste in entertainment up to now has been lost.

As well as Mazinger Z, Devilman (The best manga series, ever.), Grendizer, Dororon Enma-kun, and most importantly Cutie Honey.
He completely changed the giant robot genre with Mazinger Z. Completely reworked everything about magical girls with Cutie Honey. Hell, completely changed everything about anime with his toliet humor, perverted storylines, and graphic violence.
WAR.

He didn't revolutionalize anything. He just used what was being used successfully by many comics in the states at the time. Also, "War" is my schtick, Umino. Try not to horn in on that so much, kay, kid?

No, he didn't. No other giant robots were plioted by humans until he came up with Mazinger Z. Without Mazinger Z, I doubt we would have Gundam or Evangelion.
Second, he created the first shonen magical girl. And created the infamous nude transformation. That totally turned the genre around.
Not to mention his Harenchi Gakuen manga and TV series totally messed around with censors. Seriously man, have you seen ANY of his work? Even people who hate his stuff admit he's done alot for the manga world.
oh, and WAR.

Robots piloted by people.... Oh, you mean BATTLETECH?
Shonen Magical Girl? Nude Transformation? These are accomplishments? Superman changed clothes in a phone booth, somehow I think that predates Go Nagai a little.
Messing around with censors are well and dandy. US comic artists still did it first.

Uh, that came out in 1984. Mazinger Z is 1972. What's your point? Kabuto Kouji was the first anime character to actually pliot and work his robot without a remote. And since then characters in giant robot series PLIOT their robots.

You're missing the point. Not exactly ACCOMPLISHMENTS, but pretty big changes in the genre. Cutie Honey certainly has influenced alot, mainly in later series like Sailor Moon. Before Cutie Honey magical girls weren't fighting evil, or acting tomboyish.
And the NUDE transformation is different from Superman changing in two seconds in a phonebooth. It was something that pushed the censors, and soon become a new theme in magical girls (Sailor Moon, Tokyo Mew Mew)

Whatever, you're missing my point. I'm talking about his impact on Japanese comics and animation. You're not even bringing up good arguement. You just try to make a insult or joke out of everything and end it with WAR.

This thread isn't how I like it, I have to open up the emergency box.
ANIME TECHNIQUES ARE LARGELY DERIVED FROM WESTERN ANIMATION.
(There now this should get interesting)
