I have no favorite type of music. I like a little bit of everything. I am opened to every kind of musics and songs. Each kind of music has its good and its bad interpretors.
Various things that end in Metal.
Heavy Metal
Power Metal
Speed Metal
Thrash Metal
And classic rock. Zeppelin > all.

Any form of metal, any form of punk except most pop punk, and rap. I'll listen to any type of music that's just the majority.

Rock before and sometimes during the 80's. Maybe some early 90s stuff like old Pearl Jam but..not too much.
Classical.
And I used to like metal but it's dead.

I don't really listen to that much but I guess I like certain bits of classical, easy listening and piano rock. Something like that.

Never was there a truer statement.
As for myself, I am quite partial to the likes of...
- Electronica - Daft Punk, and do the Gorrilaz count?
- Soundtracks - Two words... Yoko Kanno.
- Romance era - Tchaikovsky in da house.
- Classic rock - Yeah. Led Zeppelin.
- And others - Muse, Weird Al, David Bowie, and one song over and over again.
That's me.

Hmm... Let us see...
Classic Country: Johnny Cash, of course.
Classic Rock: Blue Oyster Cult, Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top... The list goes ON...
Hard Rock: Savatage, Sabbath...
Metal: Godsmack, Rob Zombie, Megadeath, Sepultura...
VG OST's: Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic R...
Classical: Bach, Beethoven, Mozart...
Showtunes: Rent, Phantom of the Opera, Avenue Q...
Other: Weird Al, Stephen Lynch, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet...
I'm into a wide variety of eclectic music.

i like DJ Scooter's Maria and Hello
i also like the techno version of Speed Racer
More structural math rock is definitely my favorite genre.
Bands like:
Protest the Hero
Fear Before the March of Flames
Into the Moat
Dillinger Escape Plan
Fall of Troy
Mastodon (in some senses; songs like Capillarian Crest)
Pretty much any band that can break down and then throw the audience for a screw with a time change. Overall I'd just say experimentation for the sake of music, instead of experimentation for the hell of itself, is the key to memorable music for me.

Definitely, The Big O and Cowboy Bebop soundtracks are pretty ace!
As for games, the Zelda series, Total War series and Half-Life 2 (when it actually plays one of its short tracks) are good.

Dream Theater I must concur with. An amazing band with talent and skill, even if they are a rock ballad hair band.
