Animal Rights Activists Say "Kill The Bear!"

Mr. Peabody 03-20-2007 10:14 PM
A group of German animal rights activists are demanding that Knut, a baby Polar bear living in the Berlin Zoo, must be killed because he's dependant on humans after his mother rejected him.

I know! Why would you kill something that cute? Mad Besides, the polar bear population's dwindiling as it is. He could be a breeder one day, helping the polar bears make more babies. And I know there are ways for humans to raise a wild animal while keepng it wild.

Knut should live.

Hmm controversial.

These 'animal rights' people are a bit illogical at times. Like CBK said, why put down a perfectly healthy baby from an endangered species? Also their campaigns against medical testing on animals have a point, but unfortunately this is needed for research that could benefit many human lives. They seem to forget that modern labs have strict regulations when it comes to using animals for testing.

But anyway back on topic: Knut should be allowed to live.

These same extremists give all animal rights activists bad names. It all comes down to specieism and guilt.

... Wow, that was retarded.

Actually, these fools are making a very bad public name for themselves by calling for this. They need to pluck their heads from their collective ass and realize there's more to a situation than one variable.

Tongue In other news, PETA representatives were set on fire by an unknown assailant. But they'll never find him...

Gotta love the title of the Sun article:

Kill Tame Bear, Say Animal Nuts

Pygmalion

That is an amazing headline.

I'd work there.

Animal rights activists, like socialist groups are sometimes run by guilty, rich snobs. They don't really care about what they're protesting but they want to feel like they're making a difference and be "shocking" like the people who dug up that old woman and held it for ransom.

Besides, his mother rejected him so he'd die in the wild, and these idiots want to kill him? If you follow that logic, we should kill all orphans.

You mean we shouldn't? Shocked

Eh...I can understand when its for cosmetics testing. If you tell me, however, that the life of a rat outweighs the potential to cure a form of cancer or debilitating illness you may as well keep walking since you lost any sort of potential support you may have been looking for.

Only if you orphaned them, you don't want to be that guy who has all their plans thrown for a loop 20 years after the fact because somebody wants revenge

They didn't say directly kill him, but rather that a bear should rather be dead than be raised by humans.

An animal raised his whole life without being in touch with his real instincts isn't an animal anymore. It's just an imprisoned pet.

I dunno, it's the f***ing Sun, practically the British equivalent of the National Enquirer, so I wouldn't take its articles too seriously.

I think it's still a cruel statement. I'm pretty sure there's some way they could teach it to be not so dependent.

They did that to Charlie Chaplin's body.

ZE ZOO MUST KILL ZE BEAR!

...actually what is the big deal? It's not like the bear is going to be let back into the wild and then torn to pieces by real bears. He's going to be waited on hand and foot by zookeepers all his life. Sure, it's being raised by humans and not by other bears, but he's not going to go back out into bear-land and corrupt their society and such.

Then they can drop the smokescreen and just say they feel pet ownership is inherently evil, much like PETA did.

Speaking of PETA. I wonder if this organization also has ties to those thugs in the ALF. Wouldn't shock me in the least.

He's a zoo bear, he WILL be an imprisoned pet, but so what? At least he'll be alive.

Plus it's not like it's the 1930s and he'll be forced to just be in a concrete cage with bars on the outside.

So you believe Alf will be making rap videos about how not to eat animals any time soon?
Sara Comatori 03-29-2007 01:45 PM
I heard about this. (I don't watch the news) It's wrong to do that. They should keep it in the zoo. That's what I would do.

don't kill the poor thing. It needs to live.

It's a fudging Polar Bear!
One: There cute
Two: There not in the safe zone when it comes to hunters.
Hollow XXVI 03-29-2007 05:07 PM
I thought it was funny how they're not blaming little Knut (gotta love that name) on killing another bear..by attracting crowds and giving it a heart attack.

Dude it's a zoo, ZOOS HAVE CROWDS CONSTANTLY.
Mike 03-29-2007 05:57 PM
Are they sure the bear wasn't really old? Or had high cholesterol?

Or was just a wuss?
Generalissimo D 03-29-2007 06:49 PM
You kill seals, not polar bears.

Stupid Germans.

The other bear had been surreptitiously injected with foxdie, and the dead bear is like...the head of bear DARPA?
