Current Info -

Before CLANNAD... Before AIR... There was Kanon. Kanon was Key's first big success in the world of visual novels. While the effect may have worn out by today's standards, it was very big for its time in Japan. The game was released in 1999 with an animated series created by Toei Animation in 2002. Due to the success and praise of the animated series AIR, Kyoto Animation remade the series in 2006, with over 24 episodes. It is said to be faithful to the visual novel, and well-received by Kanon fans everywhere.

Observations -

Like the other Key series, Kanon has yet to be licensed in the US. However, the remake does give out some hope. Fans have enjoyed the new animated series and have said that it is superior to Toei's version.

Other -

This is the third thread relating to one of Key's novels. You may discuss about the two animated series here. You can also talk about similarities with other visual novels from Key.

I have seen the original run of this series fansubbed, so I'm looking forward to checking out the 2006 remake. It is a truly touching series with some key points that made this series stand out when it was first released. Even now after re-watching the show, it still has a charming appeal to it. It's a wonderful series.
