[Question] The Copper Room - Subforum for a Fanmade Season III

Hobodoken 09-24-2006 09:04 PM
See, the fact that whatever is being made is a collaboration, and is making the icon lie to me, is already souring whatever opinion I'll have about this jibber-jabber. That is, if the jibber-jabber is ever finished. Committies ruin creativity and all that jazz.

Sorry, I was horribly vague.

It seems that most of the people involved are newer/newish people to the fourms, and they can carry on the majority of their conversations in their specail subforum, whereas some of the things they post might be seen as annoying to forum veterans and the like. No offense.

Ah, gotcha. No, it's for a collaborative fan-project between several people. I guess they decided having a central forum was desirable to the organization of it all. *shrug.*

Sorry, everyone, I didn't realize that making the new section for R. Daniel Olk's project into a subforum of the Nightingale would end up being so annoying to everyone else. I'll make a change so that the new posts will no longer show up. BTW, once this project is completed, it will be posted on Paradigm, so everyone here will get a chance to see it.

Thanks. It did get annoying after a while. The changes seem to be working for the moment.

I've made some changes to the first post, hopefully filling some people on what's the subforum about, but it would still be nice if R. Daniel Olk 01 were to make a formal announcement.

Wow, I got in here late!

Hey, if you make a compelling piece of writing in the Nightingale or make a beautiful/clever piece of artwork, or if you wow me with your deep understanding of this-or-that character, I'll practically BEG you to join up.

I don't want to open it to everyone, because then the surprise will be ruined. It's not just a matter of chocolate or vanilla, you see. We've got strawberries and hot fudge, confetti... my mind's mouth is watering already... Drooling

Yea, when I saw my posts and such in the "latest post" box, I assumed and hoped that everyone else would see the last un-restricted latest post, instead. Assumptions are always deadly...

WELL, formal announcement time?

I formally announce that it's progressing. Tongue
October 7th we move to Episode Scenario Planning; October 31st we begin Episode Script Production.
Art is constant, and will take much longer.
Travis Bickle 09-25-2006 12:30 AM
Well, at least you guys are making more progress than that other guy that attempted to do the same thing.

Out of curiosity, did you move the forum or did you do an actual code change?

I just moved it up one level to the main category. I'm reluctant to make significant changes to the code since it complicates things when upgrading, which is why I would prefer something like vBulletin's hooks system (luckily, something similar will be added for WBB3).

I never realized that there was a hidden forum. It also appears that it's one of those Fan Made Season 3 deals, well, lets hope they actually keep at it. I do recall another guy trying to do that, and he just quit.

Ace died or something.
David Ryder 09-26-2006 06:25 PM
Didn't some guy named Blue Yonder try making one of these fan made season 3 deals, but like wise, he kinda vanished.

Edit: Ace is still a-ok as far as I know.
ZeroKirbyX 09-26-2006 06:47 PM
I don't think they'll get far beyond the planning and into actual animation. Animating requires heads, inbetweeners, pencillers, colorers, background artists, and most of all, money.

Ah understood. Although some guy named Blue Yonder was making one of these fan made season 3 deals, but like wise, he kinda vanished.

I remember talking to Ace about something like this. I think it was a comic he was coming up with for the site.

Also, I didn't know he died.

Didn't ACT make a whole 3rd and 4th season?
X Prime 09-26-2006 07:21 PM
3rd, which was OK.

4th in part, which sucked because it turned into some messed up porno.
R. Daniel Olk 01 09-26-2006 07:38 PM
Yeah, there have been two past attempts that I can recall. Both died, I think, for several reasons:

- Not enough passion. I worked for BYA's project a little, and I can tell you there wasn't any... just some guy picking at his guitar half the time... Tongue

- Not enough planning.

- Not enough organization.

- Not enough people.

The other attempts have all seemingly been a person or two saying "Wouldn't it be nice" and "let's go for it!" Without careful planning beforehand. And with only limited proficiency with Flash, if Flash even entered the equation...

Yeah, the most important thing for writers is to keep their fanboy/girliness under control. Doesn't matter "how cool it would be." It's gotta fit.
ZeroKirbyX 09-26-2006 07:57 PM
3rd and 4th you say? I must see this.
