That Film You Slept Through Lately, What Was It?

Nine Kuze 04-25-2007 12:25 PM
Didn't sleep last night, and this is what I watched:

The Last King of Scotland (2006) starring Forest Whitaker, James McAvoy, Kerry Washington
TransAmerica (2005) starring Felicity Huffman, Kevin Zegers, Graham Greene
Ya Tu Mama Tambien (2001) starring Gael Garcia Bernal, Diego Luna, Marbia Verde

Scotland was good and Whitaker's performance was worthy of the Best Actor Oscar but with the film focusing so much on McAvoy's character, that really hurts it in the long run. McAvoy was good too and this film has Kerry Washington naked. Oh, this f***ing wins on many levels.

TransAmerica was better than I thought, the screenplay was creative and Huffman's performance was spot on. And there's an interesting use of "special effects" used as well, if you know what I mean. Haha.

Tambien is incredible still and I bought it the other day. On the special features, there's this short film that Alfonso Cuaron's brother, Carlos, made that's called "You Owe Me One" and its about the sexual secrets and lies of a family. Its starts out with a wife and husband and their daughter. It reveals that the wife is having an affair with another man, that turns out to be the boyfriend of the daughter that she smuggles in the house to have sex with him without the mother knowing and the father the whole time is having a fling with the nanny as well. Its damn hilarious and Cuaron is definetly one of my favorite directors.
Peace.

I love that man. The dude can act, and he speaks like five languages.

I went to go see Grindhouse last night. My thoughts are as follows:

Planet Terror was great. "I never miss."

The fake trailers made me lol, and the Eli Roth one was the best.

The music during the "OUR FEATURE PRESENTATION" bits was groovy, I dug it.

We left maybe halfway through Death Proof. It needed less lawlhollywoodbitches dialogue (After watching Planet Terror it was pretty much unbearable+ too early for this kinda movie) and moar Kurt Russel murdering people with his car.

Yeah, they could benefit from splitting up.

Yesterday me and a few friends went and saw Disturbia. Pretty decent movie, although the ending kind of disappointed me.

Fujicakes you're my girl and all but you and Natalie Portman need to get in line. I saw him first. :o

21 Grams (2003) starring Sean Penn, Naomi Watts, Benecio Del Toro
The Constant Gardener (2005) starring Ralph Fiennes, Rachel Weisz, Danny Huston
Memories (1995) directed by Koji Morimoto, Tensai Okamura, written by Satoshi Kon
West Side Story (1961) starring Natalie Wood, Richard Beymer, Russ Tamblyn

21 Grams was damn good, Watts' performance killed it... The Constant Gardener is just as good as it was when I first saw. Clearly one of the best films (if not...) of 2005... Memories was an anime film with three different stories that was damn good and funny as well... and West Side Story. Oh, West Side Story my favorite musical of all-time.
Peace.

Good, no? That's why it's one of my favorites. Pleased

In speaking of Satoshi Kon, the most recent movie I've seen is Millennium Actress with my mommy. That man is a directing god or something.

I bought today "Elysium" and I was sadly dissapointed. I expected some nice anime and instead I got some stupid disney/bionicle/manga crossover. Only good thing that it hasn't costed too much.

I saw Hot Fuzz last Saturday.
It's sick.
It's funny.
It's damn fun to watch.

It looks like the gunfight from spaced except they're actually holding guns this time.

edit: Also 90 minutes long

I must be the only one who liked the sex scene in that sad farce of 300. I mean, the only slight of realism throughout the whole thing and all but meh.

Notes on a Scandal (2006) starring Judi Dench, Cate Blanchett, Bill Nighy

Damn this movie was good. Dench was enchantingly creepy, Blanchett was powerful and looked f***ing fine... more than usual, and Nighy killed it in his role as well.

Also, I'm jealous of the kid who had the affair with Blanchett in the movie. Having sex with her at a field near a train station fearful that someone would find out about what they are doing... lucky lil' bastard. :o
Peace.

Oh, come on. 300 wasn't supossed to be realistic.

Anyway, I saw Hot Fuzz, which ruled.
Shooter also ruled.
and yesterday I finally got around to seeing Commando. My God, this movie is made of pure testosterone. I love it.
Inigo Montoya 05-01-2007 10:52 AM
I sat back, relaxed, and enjoyed:
Bela Lugosi's Mark of the Vampire,
Boris Karloff's Frankenstein,
I FINALLY SAW ROBERT DENIRO'S FRANKENSTEIN,
The Silent Movie Nosferatu,
and Boris Karloff's Curse of the Mummy.
War.

Spider-man 3: It was very disapointing I find....it was so inacurate. I skipped school and spent $7 of someone's money for this.

SLC Punk: One of my favorite movies. Great soundtrack and funny as hell.

It was like an acid trip, in a good, laugh-inducing way. Much enjoyed.
