The art style is badass, I'll give you that.
A while ago I played(through 1337 h4x) the super famicom DDS for about 30 minutes before I got disoriented and gave up. Then I investigated your strange ass themes and tried it again.

Digital Devil Story is an error...
You mean Shin Megami Tensei 1.
Notoriously maze-y game.
Though sadly the badass art isn't really in SMT1 I think.

All I remember is the letters DDS were displayed on a computer of some sort. I've also played Demikids for a bit, and that was quite fun.
