Anyone here watch Trigun, I saw under 'Favorite Animes' that a couple people like Trigun, I thought you guys might want to have a discussion about it, theres something I didn't quite get, when Knives is building the Angel arm guns, he tells Vash to wait at the front entrance to the ship...and he doesn't come back for a year... I'd say Vash must have alot of patience...

Yeah, I loved Trigun since I first saw it on Adult Swim this year. Stylish like Cowboy Bebop but with its own sense of kookiness.
I don't get some of the Knives/Vash history either. I guess they age VERRRRYYY slowly, so waiting around a year must not be too big a deal. Vash is over a hundred years old, isn't he?
While on the topic, what exactly is Vash? Is he a genetically altered human? Or something else? In the "Rem" episode, it appears that the humans find the two boys as infants in a spaceship or their own spaceship(?). Were they aliens?
And in the last episode, Knives tells Vash that he's "a plant." Plus, does this connect with the "plants" that power the floating spaceship and the town's energy sources (y'know, the things that look like giant light bulbs)?
A lot of questions, if anybody has answers or a guess. THANKS!

I also like the Trigun series, but there are a few things I still don't get either. I think that Vash and Knives are supposed to be "plants," like the energy sources, which explains how Vash could interact with them. But what does it mean to be one? Are there other "people" like Vash inside those lightbulbs? Why are he and Knives on the outside living "regular" lives then?
One more thing I'm not sure I understand- Knives gave Vash his gun, but Vash is (obviously) very opposed to violence/killing. Why did he keep it all those years and become so skilled with it (also knowing that the light inside activates the Angel Arm) instead of just throwing it away?
Do I just need to watch the series again, or are these questions anyone else has wondered about too?

- Tirgun is a very good anime series

Like what Schoolie said, they do seem to age slowly. Remember, he's a 'humanoid typhoon', but they still haven't really shown us
where exactly they came from -_-

Ya Vash is a plant and he was proboubly created, in one of the episodes on a screen in the backround, you learn that Rem's father was a plant-zooligist thing we proboubly created Vash and Knives to take care of the people in the capsules, see thier journey from earth to thier new planet was supposed to last a long time... and of course they would need someone to make sure everything works O.K. on the ships throughout the long voyage. Yes Rem and the others would die long before the voyage was over, so they made Vash and his brother Knives, the perfect idea, right, i mean they would live for a very, very long time, much longer than the voyage would last, so thats what they were used for, after 'birth' they waited until they reached childhood, and began training them, not like the military, but just a teaching of the sorts, but they never thought something would go wrong, if you've seen the shows you'd know what happened next, of course Knives realizes that they are much more advanced than the humans, they were created to protect, and makes plans to kill them off and live alone on a desert planet with nothing but Vash, and some plants (trees are just as much a brother to them...

)...

Vash uses that gun for a few reasons, (1) he uses the gun to save lives, not to hurt or kill people, wouldn't you rather have a few hurt badguys, than even a single dead innocent? (2) He uses that specific gun becuase of its unique ability, becuase knives gave it to him, and becuase it looks cool, works well, and its already in his posestion. That way he doesn't have to go get another one. He needs this gun to defend himself from Knives and his minions, and even worse yet if he did give it away or threw it away, and Knives got ahold of it again, he could cuase double the damage...
*Sorry: I forgot to add 'Spoilers' in the title*

I love Trigun.I saw it a few years ago and couldn't wait for it to come on Adult Swim, because I hadn't seen the whole thing. It was indeed cool, but I think it could have been a little better. And I want to read the manga, because I heard it cleared a few things up.

Close. It's "Trigun Maximum".I guess the first Trigun manga only tells half of the anime story. And TM tells the rest. That's what I've heard,I could be wrong.
***Spoilers***
But I know that Wolfwood lives in the manga version.

I've never read any of the Trigun manga, I've only seen the Anime, I suppose there isn't much difference... at least not enough of one to change the storyline.

Trigun's a cool anime, but what I still don't get is that Vash is a dangerous man and there a hype about it, but everyone keeps confusing him with someone else.
SOMEBODY HELP ME OUT HERE!!!

spoiler (highlight to read):
Vash is very dangerous, he can't always control the power of his Angel Arm (that huge arm cannon thing), he destroyed two towns with it, one full of people, the other deserted. He doesn't want to kill, but he has done it many times before, almost always becuase of Knives though. He always gets into trouble and cuases huge amounts of property damage, including the fifth moon...
- Hope that helps!

I'm not sure if I agree.Read the last line of my previous post.Although that might not have changed the storyline.I guess only reading the manga will tell.

So Woldwood lives in the Manga eh? I guess that would change the storyline alot...
spoiler (highlight to read):
He uses the cross of the dead priest Wolfwood to defeat knives in the end of the anime... and he got the cross becuase Millie gave it to him, he wouldn't have beaten' knives in the same fashion if Wolfwood hadn't died...

there was someone that told me that the cross was a box with a few shotguns and a bazzoka. he was wrong, i guess.
I usually watch it on adult swim. oh and try to go to trigunometry. it is at trigun.8k.com

I've already been to Trigunometry, and Trigun Machine; anyway, Wolfwood's cross is a Bazooka, and a container for pistols...
-it also acts as a machine gun...

Actually, there are 2 Cross Punishers. The first one is bigger than the second. The first has guns inside it(as seen in the episode:Quick Draw). The second is the one he uses later on in the show.It has a missle launcher in the top,and a machine gun in the bottom. It also has a handle in the middle.

Those two are the same one, the only other cross is the one used by Wolfwoods teacher 'Chaplin', and that one splits into two machineguns. Besides where would wolfwood get the other cross?
