Initially when chitter mentioned Margaret Cho, I paused and thought "wait, isn't she dead?"

Then I realized no, she isn't...its only her career that is.

I never got any love from the old man growing up, he used to tell me to go to the backyard and play "Hide and go screw yourself."
SEELE 08 08-29-2006 10:34 PM
Which is really too bad because Margret Cho is was hilarious. I'll never forget the "ASS MASTA"
Chitter-Box-Kat 08-29-2006 10:56 PM
Hurricane Poontang and the "Chinky" Batman parody are two of my favorites. Big Grin

Doug Stanhope is/was (don't know if he's dead) a sick and scary man, but he's funny to me.

Anyone besides me know who George Carlin is?
Scourge 08-29-2006 10:57 PM
Carlin is a legend in the world of stand up.
SEELE 08 08-29-2006 10:58 PM
Yeah George Carlin was good back in the day, but he's so angry anymore. I prefer John Stewart and Stephen Colbert's brand of political humor these days. Also Lewis Black = GOD

I like watching Mind of Mencia. Ther's just something about his twisted sense of humor that appeals to me. Ther was and episode on Sunday where he was talking with six senior citizens. One of them (the classic white-hair-afro-unseeming-grannny-type) said Bush was doing fine for a retarded person.

Old people are cool. Thumbs Up

I can't stand Mencia, he is not funny. How he got a show is a mystery to me.
Sharpshooter005 08-29-2006 11:13 PM
Doug Stanhopes alive as far as I know

Seeing him 50 times every hour on an ad screaming "SHOW ME WHERE BABIES FEED!" got old really fast though (then again apparently once his contract for that was up he just went around absolutely BASHING that whole company to anyone who would listen.)

They were looking for a mexican dave chappelle.

They wound up with some honduran guy who claims he's mexican, and is also painfully witless and unfunny.

I think Mencia often misses the mark but sometimes he's geniunly funny. But I honestly agree that I don't know how he got his own show. I figure it has something to do with is at times outrageous themes, and Comedy Central figured he might be a good stand in for Chapelle.
Scourge 08-29-2006 11:18 PM
I hate his racist comments that are based on nothing, it is like he makes it up on the spot. I don't mind stereotypes, but can he at least work with only pre-existing ones and not just make up BS.

Also when he stops the show to explain something pisses me off, I feel like my intelligence is being insulted
Sharpshooter005 08-29-2006 11:19 PM
"FOR THOSE OF YOU LAUGHING, THANK YOU FOR WATCHING. FOR THE OTHERS LEMME EXPLAIN IT".

Yes carlos, that's exactly it. You've somehow completely gone over my head with your observation that (racial group X) does things like this while (racial group Y) does things like THAT
Chitter-Box-Kat 08-30-2006 12:07 AM
Alright, he's not the best. I still watch the show. Oh Well

My cats are like little furry people.

I'm something so stupid.

I completely forgot that over the weekend, I met this guy;

Peace.

I talk to toy versions of Rei and Keel. I think my sanity is slipping.
David Ryder 08-30-2006 10:59 AM
Mind of Mencia sucks. He's just some guy they picked up after seeing his "Comedy" and said "Hey guys Dave, went crazy, lets get this guy. He to plays the "edgy" and "in your face" style." Oh and Mencia likes to claims he's mexican but he's from Honduras, his mother however is Mexican. I also like how he gets material off the net that is like 2-3 weeks old. Now that's edgy.

And so does Margaret Cho. The Daily Show isn't what it use to be either, save Back in Black and the Occasional mock interview.

I had to get vaccine boosters 'cause I'm going to college. And tetnus is from rusty cans, not rabid rodents. Tongue

My arm still hurts.

If by "what it used to be" you're referring to when Craig Kilborn was the host then no, it isn't.

...It's exponentially better. The audience however really really grates on my nerves at times, yes I get it, Stewart and/or his guest said something you agree with. Heres an idea, instead of screaming for up to a minute and a half and and drowning them out why don't you..I don't know, clap and then let them keep talking.

The Daily Show needs the original cast back. Stephen Colbert, that-guy-in-the-40-year-old-virgin-show, Rob Corudry is leaving...at least Samantha McBee is still there...she's hilarious.
