What do I mean? I mean of course I find Bleach to be about as interesting as DBZ, that's more or less it. I mean I could rant on how overrated Bleach is but no need. |
Bah, one could argue that every modern form of media is like or a ripoff of something that came out earlier in the same field.
Also you can't really say something is overrated, you may think it is utter crap but apparently it is loved by more which puts you in the minority and just because you don't like it doesn't mean it is crap and everyone else is an idiot for liking it, it just means you have different tastes.
Look at Inuyasha (lets stick to anime/manga) many people think it is overrated and lame but Takahashi keeps pumping out the chapters and people buy them by the craploads.

I just gotta say that I'm beginning to like Bleach - it's becoming one of my favorite animes currently airing.
It's got all the typical quirks and melodramatics of anime. And there seem to be almost too many characters to keep track of.
But there are a lot of interesting things going on. Last week's episode (#8 ) was fun with the other Soul Society agent checking up on things. And the battles have been interesting. I like how Ichico (?) has to retrieve the fake soul guy in pill form from the stuffed animal in order to turn into his Soul Collector form. Interesting mechanics there.

all i'm going to say is that kon is my favorite character. i wasted some of my hellsing manga money just to get a patch of him.

That was a pretty good episode on Saturday. It continued to strengthen the bond between the characters and made some of the characters more likeable that before. That anonymous Soul Reaper definitely earned some points in my book. I like how they played that out. I am also starting to like Ichigo’s dad more and more as time goes by.
It was also nice to see that hallow get away for now. It gives Ichigo a bit of a goal to work for as well as a drive to keep pushing forward.

I was waiting for someone else to post here. You know, the whole fear of double posts and all.
This was a good episode, but the way too much dialogue thing kind of killed it for me. They needed the action to advance plot, not the dialouge and that kind of dragged it down. But other than that, not bad.
That was a cool flashback involving Rukia and how she learned about honor in battle from her Soul Society training. The other soul reaper did his thing too, which was cool and Grand Fisher got away (I don't know if he comes back, so far in the manga I've read up to so far he hasn't). The end with Rukia and Ichigo was very nice though, and like Raven said, I think it indeed strengthen their band with each other (especially with the way she looked at him at the end and how she laid his head on her lap. Subtle touches ftw).
Although I have to say, the direction is not that good at all. All this was pulled off much better and more seamlessly in the manga so while I liked the episode and the show overall, its the direction from manga to anime that I'm not really feeling.
I will say this though, I liked the conversation with Ichigo and his father. Compared to the manga, that was pulled off quite well. Speaking of the father, I've noticed that he sounds like Charles Beams from Eureka Seven. Most have the same VA is all.

Yeah. Also, and this is what Scourge was talking about a while ago, but I think Ichigo's dad knows about his soul reaper duties. I kind of got that when Kon in Ichigo's body came up to him and he didn't acknowledge him or anything like that. It probably means nothing but that's what I got out of it.
And the next episode has that damn magician making his debut. Damn, I find him annoying like you know what.
Peace.

This was basically the ONLY time Isshin is relevant, in the anime at least. Hell you barely even see the guy after this point, the daughters get more screen time than Pops.

EDIT:
Found this Bleach parody off of Moulin Rouge with Ichigo and Rukia delcaring their love. Watch it.
I actually didn't like this latest episode.
But then again, it had that dumbass magician so I was bound not to like it from the first. They didn't blend the comedy and the action together as well also and too much dialogue. They also showed that the others like Tatsuke, Orihime, and Brad have strong spiritual powers as well.
I did think it was kind of cool how Ichigo was so surprised how much Rukia cares about his well being though. And at least in the next episode, Uryu makes his appearance against Ichigo.
Also, I've read up to Vol. 15 in the manga and it kicks ass. The Soul Society Arc is pretty damn good and interesting.

Ichigo and Kenny's fight was my favorite and I really like Mr. Yoruichi... or more correctly, Ms. Hehehe.

That was the first time I saw the Kan'onji experience animated and damn was it funny.

Only Chad, Karin, and Orihime have any trace of spiritual powers at this point and that noise I suppose you are relating the powers thing too, I think everyone heard it.
I was kinda sad that there was no sign of Ishida in this ep, at least you can see him in the manga... if you got sharp eyes.
on a more personal note, I think Chad has a much better English voice than his Japanese voice, his Japanese voice makes him sound like he's slow in the head.

For the record, anything done by Kenpachi or anyone else in the 11th automatically kicks ass.

Well, that glasses kid that Nine mentioned earlier finally got introduced… I have to say, I liked him. Is he going to be a regular on the cast? I’m thinking he’s probably going to beat the crap out of Ichigo next week like everyone seems to do these days. I’m also interested to hear how he is still around after all these years. Overall, better episode then last week.

This was an ok episode, there wasn't that much worth mentioning though.
...and yeah, Ishida sticks around for the entire series (both anime and manga).
spoiler (highlight to read):
He ends up in Ichigo's running crew, along with Orihime and Chad.

Saw Ishida's first appearance last night. That's the same English voice actor who did Ken Ichigaki from Digimon.

Other than that, I have nothing to say. He's still cool.

THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU!
Yeah, I was a little bored last night. The new character is such a common trope in animes like this.

Yeah pretty much every action anime has a rival/ally character, it is a given.

All we need to hear now is how this episode was pulled off so much better in the manga. Some people will never be satisfied.

*damn, I'm late*
Actually, the episode captured Ishida's character pretty well. Although for some reason, in the manga, Ichigo was ranked 18th in the class not 23rd. Why they would knock him down a couple of spots is beyond me.
I like how Rukia behaves around Ichigo and her classmates. Pretty damn funny and we get to see the duel next week between Ichigo and Ishida.
Peace

Yay for Sado... the most unrealistic Mexican ever but hey he still gets props for being one of three Mexicans in all Japan.
I haven't seen/read this part of the story in such a long time it made refresh my liking of ole Chad.
Anyone else notice how many hollows weren't killed correctly, to down a hollow you need to destroy their mask but hardly any of them were hit in the head.

I was thinking that too at first, but I noticed he was slicing most of them in half, only starting at their legs instead of the head. The only one who didn't appear to have his mask broken was the one Chad killed. I'd have to rewatch to confirm though.
Overall, probably the most action packed episode of the series. The glasses killed again looked cool, making hallow killing look like it was a breeze. It was nice that they took a sudden break from the contest to focus on Chad. That was something I wasn’t really expecting. Oh yes, and I didn’t realize until today that the kid Chad saved was actually Ichigo’s sister and not his brother. >_> She is an even bigger tomboy than Totsuke.

Ichigo only really cut one or two hollows' masks. Chad just landed a clean punch on the hollow, not on the mask, and it died. Ishida didn't even bother to hit any of them in the head.
It was like watching the second OVA, no one even makes an effort to aim for the mask or they used kido spells, which can't kill a hollow.
