Eureka SeveN

Well, I find E7 to be a good mecha show precisely because most of the time they aren't even in the mecha. The mecha are secondary, it's a character driven show for the most part.

And yes, I meant the saturday lineup.

Another great episode. And yes, it is the strongest anime show on AS at the moment.
Scourge 11-05-2006 10:03 PM
Too bad Futurama and Robot Chicken get better ratings on Saturday...
Valdoom 11-06-2006 03:15 PM
It's only because Futurama and Robot Chicken are funny. Eureka Seven is compicated and has morals. Most of the time these factors only confuse people and most people hate to be confused. That and hateing differences.
minespatch 11-06-2006 07:33 PM
i don't understand what was with that warning in the beginning of last weeks episode. so the character had a decapitated arm, but they didn't show the part of the body of where the arm was cut off from.

That is kind of a weak statement, there is more to it than it just being humorous.

The episode kicked ass, plain and simple. So much ass that I even taped it on the second showing (the first one of this series that I've done so).

Anyway, Ray really let the Swan go (expect for the dinner table set for three, nice touch), the flashback with her and Charles was cool, and it was a very nice touch with her humming that tone for the entire episode. Not many shows do something that risky (for lack of a better word I suppose), but Evangelion comes to mind.

I liked Ray and Renten over the radio as well, that was quite poetic with Renten's questions and Ray's reactions to them. Damn shame that she died the way she did, because Charles and Ray were my favorite characters. Kind of reminds me of how FMA killed off the most interesting characters first (Greed, Scar, Lust, etc...) I was kind of hoping for something more between Ray and Renten, like an actual conversations where Ray would answer Renten's questions (like if he would have made Ray and Charles happy if he became their son, which he would have if the past episodes have shown anything).

Also, insecurities about a messy love triangle ftl (I'm talking about Talho here). That's at least my take on it, seeing how she didn't want Renten's (and Diana's ultimately) blood transfusion to go through with Holland. This show is starting to get popping.

Eureka is gonna drop a bomb on Renton next week... hopefully an explanation as too why she, apparently, did not age since war times.

I'm droppin' spoilers...
spoiler (highlight to read):
SHE'S NOT HUMAN! There, I just saved you 30 minutes on Saturday

That's why she looked worried at the end. Also, what was up with her older kid, Maurice?

True about the statement and what you are getting at. Well, at least Futurama has some actual depth to it. RC is starting to annoy me though. Also, I don't think Eureka is confusing just not the best storytelling it could be is all.

[adult swim]'s sad attempt at trying to be funny. They did the same thing with the FMA finale earlier this year.
Peace.

To reapeat and explain my earlier statment: Furturama is awesome, but funny awesome. Eureka seven is morals, combat and, other complicated. Comlexity scares the stupid is all I'm saying. Eureka Seven is in fact euite complicated. (for instace the Eureka's past thing) I hope that clears it up.

yeah, that word "cowboy" sort of made me think that.

Good episode. The use of Ray's music, especially it's title "Get it out of your Head" was cool and clever. It made me realize all that rave dancing earlier was to dance away her pain and sorrow at not being able to have kids. More drama from the war time in flashbacks was interesting and poignant. Ultimately, I think that with Ray and Charles gone, this series can move to its core--hopefully. At least Renton's sister is getting a nod again.
Schoolie 11-10-2006 10:11 AM
Yeah, this show is getting better as it gets more intense. Charles and Ray are terrific, tragic anime characters, in that they are not necessarily "bad guys," but that they have suffered loss and are not finding the best way to deal with it.

That said, I'm not sold on the Gekko State crew being "good guys" except for that's what the show tells us. I'd like to see them do some more things that aren't selfish or boorish. Plus, what's so bad about this government army thing? Why are the main characters rebelling?

I miss them waaaaaan! But I liked the beginning with Renten trying to inimate his "papa" and how much Charles and Ray had such an impact on Renten and his view on life. I also really like how he's carrying around Charles' ring as a token of respect.

Dominic made an appearance and pretty much lied to Axel about his "relationship with his best friend" Renten. Don't really know what his angle is yet (or actually, to the main plot, he doesn't really have one all that much but meh) but interesting to see him again.

Well, Talho finally explained that aspect to us and that Eureka wasn't human but a Correlian (no idea if I spelled that even close). For those who missed it (in more ways than one), the Gekko State was created by Holland to continue Adrock Thurston's work to save the world and ultimately the universe from being destroyed by using the only Correlian in existence (in Eureka) to do so. That's basically it, and I liked how one of the kids asked if her name was Correlian. Nice touch.
Peace.

As always this episode was amazing (the norm for Eureka Seven). Very interesting developments.
Scourge 11-12-2006 10:31 AM
Yeah it was another good episode but I just laughed at two things I probably wasn't supposed to, 1. When Renton made himself sad and 2. Dominique's gay shirt.
minespatch 11-13-2006 11:45 PM
ug, they brought the "cowboy" thing back up again.
Scourge 11-19-2006 12:09 AM
This was just a meh episode all in all, not horrible but not great either.

I must say, Taho's change is for the worse. Sure her attitude may get better but her outfit is horrible, not because the lack of eye-candy, her new haircut looks bad and her new outfit is lame it is so plain and way too retro lookin'.
minespatch 11-19-2006 07:11 PM
again with the cowboy thing... ADULT SWIM, shut it. we don't want any more reminders of how gory it is.

Oh good. I thought I would be the only one thinking the exact same thing for the exact same reasons. Other than that, I don't really remember the rest of the episode. Although, I wonder what's up with Maurice and why he's avoiding Eureka.

I remember some random music number with all the scientists dancing around for some reason, Holland walking around and talking with the scientists about their weapons program and Dewey, and Renten and Eureka watching a movie together. Pretty much filler, yeah.
Peace.
David Ryder 11-20-2006 03:12 PM
Yeah, more or less this episode was filler, but it was good filler. I'm gonna pick up the DVD boxset.
Valdoom 11-20-2006 03:13 PM
It was a good episode. Were finally learning about other characters!!! But I really think that It shouldn't take 30 episodes before you learn the basic stuff about your second main character. They tend to keep back grounds hidden, but the fact that they said nothing sepcific about Eureka's past until now annoys me.
