V for Vendetta...

After reading the graphic novel, I began thinking of a better ending for the film version. I was too tired to quote the book completely, but I hope you all get the general idea.

I also hope you all like it better than the brothers Wachowski.

I think after all these weeks since the films release and all these postings, I won't use the SPOILER option, but if you don't want to know what happens in both mediums. This is your chance to stop reading.

(London Underground)

Instead of following V's bloodtrail, Inspector Finch discovers the scene of his last stand. Chancellor Sutler lies dead of a gunshot wound. An entire S.W.A.T. team killed by daggers. Creedy lies mortally wounded, wide-eyed and coughing up blood.

Finch: "Creedy, what the bloody hell happened here?!"

Creedy: (croakes) "The terrorist. "I shot him...I shot him."

Finch looks left and right, no sign of V.

Finch: "Did you kill him?"

Creedy: (weakly) "I shot him. "I shot...him."

Finch looks down. Creedy is dead. His eyes still wide open and a shocked look frozen on his face.

Finch opens Creedy's revolver and ejects the cartridges...they've all been fired. He pockets them and opens his cell phone.

Finch: (angrily) "This is Inspector Finch. We have a crisis here."

(The Subway)

Evey, dressed in black, loads V's corpse onto the explosive laden subway car. She places a final kiss on the lips of his mask and places a rose in his hands.

Evey: "You'll have your viking funeral. I won't forget what you've taught me."

Evey walks over to the car's controls. Her hand rests on the lever.

Evey: "This country doesn't need a building or killing...It needs hope."

Evey pulls the lever. The engines come to life. Evey steps out of the car and looks at V.

Evey:"Farewell, my love."

A tear runs down her cheek.

The car moves towards its destination. Evey watches it go.

(Ext-Houses of Parliament-Night)

Heavy security is stationed outside. A huge crowd of Londoners (they're not wearing V costumes!) stands behind secuirty barriers, waiting for something to happen.

P.A. SYSTEM: "The terrorist named Codename V has been killed while resisting arrest. Chancellor Sutler, instead of his customary TV address, has chosen to address the nation over the radio. Return to your homes. England prevails."

(INT-Scotland Yard)

High ranking Norsefire officials argue bitterly amongst themselves as to the fate of the government. They're like starved wolves atop a carcass. The shouting gives way to punches. The chaos V foresaw is continuing, and chaos leads to...

Inside his office, Finch silently works at his typewriter. He's typing his resignation.

(INT- Subway)

The explosive car continues towards the Houses of Parliament.

(London Streets-Night)

Finch has just left Scotland yard and is quietly walking through the empty streets.

Dominic: "Inspector Finch! Where are you going? We just received orders that all available officers are to guard Parliament."

Finch: "I'm not an inspector anymore, Dominic."

Dominic: (shocked) "...Beg your pardon, sir?"

Finch: (smiling) "I just turned in my papers. Bugger the force and bugger the party."

Dominic: "But what will you do, sir?"

Finch: (shrugs) "I might just holiday in Ireland, look up some family. Take care, lad."

(EXT-Houses of Parliament-Night)

Big Ben strikes midnight. It's now 5th November. Silence hangs over the crowd and security. Moments later the main hall explodes! followed by the other buildings.

(London Streets)

Finch and Dominic spin around and see Parliament engulfed in flames. The two former partners look at each other and start running towards the inferno.

(EXT-Houses of Parliament-Night)

The crowd watches the burning Parliament in awe. They're on the brink of taking action. Suddenly the young girl (she wasn't killed by the Fingerman!) sees a shadow atop a building.

Girl (pointing)"Look there!"

The crowd turns and sees V, his arms upraised in triumph, a microphone in hand.

V (over PA System): "As a foreign gentleman once proclaimed: 'the reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated.' Now, let us give England a Fifth of November that it will always remember!"

the crowd stares at V for a moment. Then they grab bricks, bottles, other debris, and hurl them at the security. Then they attack, stealing clubs and shields, turning over squad cars. The frightened security begins to retreat. Norsefire banners are torn down and set afire. Anarchy, the child of chaos, is born.

Finch and Dominic arrive on the scene and look up at V. Finch is in disbelief. V tips his hat and disappears.

(London Rooftops - Night)

Several miles from the Houses of Parliament, V sits on a rooftop and removes his hat and mask. It's Evey, and smiling softy, she watches as Parliament burns to the ground and fireworks burst into the night sky, spelling out the letter V.

The End

I have to admit, I haven't seen V for Vendetta and for the sounds of it, I'm better off because of it. But the way you wrote out your plot, Peabody, it sounds like a very good ending to the movie. Although, I have to say that the parts with Natalie Portman concern me because you know, her acting is rather questionable these days and I feel like she wouls just screw things up with Evey's part. But regards and overall, very nicely written Peabody. Thumbs Up
Peace.

*Brush this thread's shoulders off*

D for Double Post. Okay, I finally saw the movie last night since my sister got it from DVD recently and I have to say, D for Disappointing.

It's like the continuing theme of this thread here; if you've read the graphic novel before hand, you will think the movie is crap. If you haven't read the novel, then the movie isn't oo bad by any means.

Guess which group I belong in.

W for What the Hell Did They Do To V? I'm not knockin' Weaving but V aura of mystery and his presence from the comic was completely missing from the movie. I mean, for God's sakes, he takes of his mask and starts crying. That annoyed the hell out of me. Also, like Cerpin Taxt and Wazpy said before, the government wasn't as dark, the plot with Finch being downgraded from the novel and the whole Creedy plot was not pulled off in the best way, and the end was just horrible. Evey didn't become the new V, the dialogue between V and Evey was just corny (like Titanic corny), and yeah, what was up with the V army at the end? And there had to be much, much more anarchy in the streets, which of course, there wasn't.

B for Bitch. Which is exactly what Natalie Portman did to the Evey Hammond character. Am I surprised? Not really, because this is Portman we're talking about. I have to say though, she did look good... when she didn't talk. This adaption of Evey really pissed me off. She seemed... what's the word?... like an idiot. There is so much more to the character that the movie failed to deliver big time to the movie.

Other things that annoyed me: The priest scene. Evey f***ed that up big time. How the leader wasn't in love with his computed system. I was waiting for the whole time for him to randomly say "I Love You". And where the hell was Finch's LSD trip, that was one of the best parts of the damn novel.

Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad movie. It's just because it was an adaption, there were a lot of things wrong with it. And it doesn't help that I adore the novel as well. They did do some things right, such as the Valerie scene where Evey was imprisioned (they jacked that up too for the most part). I was afraid they were going to leave that out, but it was nicely taken care of. And the way the leader was killed by Creedy wasn't too bad as well. Um, that's basically it.

Also, I was thinking and you know who would have done a kickass job of adapting the novel to film? K for Kubrick. If dude was still alive, he would have mased this movie. It's in England, it deals with the strange character of a terrorist such as V, and it's set in the future with a totaliatrian government. Stanley Kubrick for the win.

Like I said before, if you haven't read the book then you'll probably like the movie. It's not too bad in my opinon but to me, it totally disgraces the book and hardly does it justice. Please, read the novel. It's sooooo much better.
Peace.

It was indeed a good movie tho not loyal to the comics. Then again if that was a reason for me to off a movie I wouldn't watch any comic book based movie 'cuz it's never the same.
