I can work harder on my job
on friday afternoons
even a taxi can be caught quickly, I jump in
heading for you
"where are you heading to?"
just somewhere closeby
"the bad economy's a problem (I'm closing the door)
please watch out for the door"
riding on the wind, reaching for the moon
my seat is right next to yours
suddenly returning to myself, I get dizzy
admist the dream of the spring night
traveling, with you
traveling, on
lighting up the asphalt
traveling, to where
traveling, are we heading to?
anywhere far is okay
traveling, sway
traveling, more
the urge to break it
traveling, accelerate
traveling, more
although there's no need to hurry
there's a song I want you to listen
repeating endlessly
spurs on my feeling
just as planned
partying with the waves, inviting the clouds
I finally met you
but being young, I glance away
like the dust in the wind
traveling, bringing our
traveling, hearts together
let's stand out more than usual
traveling, I don't like
traveling, this place
the destination isn't reached, yet
traveling, opening the
traveling, windows
not afraid of anything
traveling, this place
traveling, is good
everything relies on how I feel
tonight, unable to wait for the
the time everyone begins to dance,
that hidden wish begins to move
it's time for everyone to begin partying
but why
I still have some uneasiness left in me
traveling, with you
traveling, on
lighting up the asphalt
traveling, where
traveling, are you?
now's the best time
traveling, sway
traveling, more
the urge to break it
traveling, accelerate
traveling, more
I'm a little afraid to stop now
traveling...

Love Spit Love
"Am I Wrong?"
There's too much
That I keep to myself
And I turn my back
On my faith
It's like glass
When we break
I wish no one in my place
And I've seen
You don't need their seeds
When their dirt goes in deep
And I'm lost in sleep
I can't stay
In this place
I can't stand
When the room turns round
On my fate
You give no guarantees
There's no promise
I can keep
I can't stand
I can't see my way
I feel blind
On my feet
I can't stay too long
Am I wrong?
Goodbye, lay the blame on luck
Goodbye, lay the blame on luck
Goodbye, lay the blame on luck
Goodbye, lay the blame on luck
I'm so tired
Of my mood
And sleep comes
With a knife, fork and a spoon
You're so pale
In your face
You let life get in your way
And I've seen
You don't need their seeds
When their dirt goes in deep
And I'm lost in sleep
Am I wrong?
Goodbye, lay the blame on luck
Goodbye, lay the blame on luck
Goodbye, lay the blame on luck
Goodbye, lay the blame on luck

The Bobs are an a cappela group. They have arranged covers of known songs and written a lot of their own stuff. The songs are usually very funny. I chose this song because, in a way, it reminds me someone I know.
I hate the Beach Boys (I stay indoors all day)
Give me my raincoat (Draw the curtains closed)
On all the brightest days (I stay indoors all day)
I listen to Leonard Cohen (I'm so tired of sunshine)
Songs of gloom (Can't wait for the nighttime)
So into my room
Go away (Winter never comes to this place)
Please let (There's always sunny weather)
Me go where (I've been warm for too long)
Air is cold (Let me go where the air is cold)
But when the night falls (I toss and turn til dawn)
And I am dreaming (Sunlight fills my nightmares)
Two girls for every boy (I toss and turn the whole night through)
Why don't they wear something modest (I'm so tired of sunshine)
On the sand in August (Even in the nighttime)
Should be banned
Go away (Winter never comes to this place)
Please let (There's always sunny weather)
Me go where (I've been warm for too long)
Air is cold (Let me go where the air is cold)
Where air is cold (Let me go where the air is cold)
Where air is cold (Let me go where the air is cold)
Let me go away
Again, again, I remember
Again, again, I remember
When I met her, it was raining
A little sunburn (The sun gets brighter every day)
Could give me cancer (The sun gets brighter every day)
Protect my chromosomes (The sun gets brighter every day)
Please keep me free from melanoma (I'm so tired of sunshine)
I'll move to Tacoma (Can't wait for the nighttime)
Sing yahoo
Go away (Winter never comes to this place)
Please let (There's always sunny weather)
Me go where (I've been warm for too long)
Air is cold (Let me go where the air is cold)
Where air is cold (Let me go where the air is cold)
Where air is cold (Let me go where the air is cold)
Let me go away
Again, again, I remember
Again, again, I remember
When I met her, it was raining

...Did I post this song before? Don't remember if I had...*shrugs* meh, whatever.
Tennessee
Lord I've really been real stressed
Down and out, losin' ground
Although I am black and proud
Problems got me pessimistic
Brothers and sisters keep messin up
Why does it have to be so damn tuff?
I don't know where I can go
To let these ghosts out of my skull
My grandmas past, my brothers gone
I never at once felt so alone
I know you're supposed to be my steering wheel
Not just my spare tire (home)
But lord I ask you (home)
To be my guiding force and truth (home)
For some strange reason it had to be (home)
He guided me to Tennessee (home)
Take me to another place
Take me to another land
Make me forget all that hurts me
Let me understand your plan
Lord it's obvious we got a relationship
Talkin' to each other every night and day
Although you're superior over me
We talk to each other in a friendship way
Then outta nowhere you tell me to break
Outta the country and into more country
Past Dyesburg into Ripley
Where the ghost of childhood haunts me
Walk the roads my forefathers walked
Climbed the trees my forefathers hung from
Ask those trees for all their wisdom
They tell me my ears are so young (home)
Go back to from whence you came (home)
My family tree my family name (home)
For some strange reason it had to be (home)
He guided me to Tennessee (home)
Now I see the importance of history
Why people be in the mess that they be
Many journeys to freedom made in vain
By brothers on the corner playin ghetto games
I ask you lord why you enlightened me
Without the enlightment of all my folks
He said cuz I set myself on a quest for truth
And he was there to quench my thirst
But I am still thirsty...
The lord allowed me to drink some more
He said what I am searchin for are
The answers to all which are in front of me
The ultimate truth started to get blurry
For some strange reason it had to be
It was all a dream about Tennessee

I ask you to hold me, but you don't wanna to hold me - It don't work like that
I want you to love me, but you don't wanna love me -I'm losing patience now
Oh leave me alone (Oh leave me alone)
Stop asking for more
I'm going home on my own
Oh leave me alone (Oh leave me alone)
I'm walking out of the door
I'll make it on my own
Leave me alone
Leave me alone
Leave me alone
Just Leave me alone
You like me to stroke you
Careful I don't choke you, did you read my mind
You say don't be blue
Is that the best you can do
I've lost my patience now
Oh leave me alone (Oh leave me alone)
Stop asking for more
I'm going home on my own
Oh leave me alone (Oh leave me alone)
I'm walking out of the door
I'll make it on my own
Leave me alone
Leave me alone
Leave me alone
Just Leave me alone
(Repeat Chorus)

O.A.R. - Untitled
She takes it deep to the heart
Right from the start
She talks softly over a glass of wine.
Now and again
She's more than a friend
Why don't you just throw me that line
It would be great
If she'd dedicate
Just a minute from her precious time.
I'll give it a while,
But that's not my style
Now how is that a crime?
Everyone says that I'm wild.
Pardon my French
But I still know my child.
And that was the day
I told her I needed some time.
Well I began walking when she was still talking
I'm looking for that exit sign.
Pardon my face but I'm leaving no trace
Cause I really haven't got the time.
Well I began thinking and my heart is just sinking and I'm looking for that place to go.
Isn't it sad that she'll treat you so bad,
But you never really let her know.
And everyone says that she's crying.
But I can't forget all the time I spent trying.
And that was the day
I told her I needed some time.
I know, I know what it feels like to be alone.
I know, I know what it feels like to be at home.
I like, I like stopping to say "Hello".
It's my life, my life why can't we take this slow?
Why can't we take this slow?
Well I've been through these phases,
I've walked through these mazes.
I'm sick and I'm little tired.
It sure isn't fair
But I'm not aware of the patience that's required.
If I could have kissed her every time that I missed her
I still would be out the door.
But now and again,
I sure need a friend
Now isn't that what she's for?
And everyone says that I'm lying,
But I can't forget all the time she spent crying.
And that was the day I told her I needed some time.
I know, I know what it feels like to be alone.
I know, I know what it feels like to be at home.
I like, I like stopping to say "Hello".
It's my life, my life why can't we take this slow?
Baby take it slow.
It's my life.
My life.
Why can't we take it slow?
Baby, take it slow.

Art, art for art's sake, I'd like you to meet my lawyer
Heart, heart like a snake, make a mistake and boy your
bones, bones gonna shake, could be slander
Move, move to Brazil
With bucks, bucks in the bank
Bucks, bucks in the bank
Bucks, bucks in the bank
Truth, beauty and love, I'd like you to meet my guru
He came from above, he'll send you a mantra if you
Give, give him your love and all your money
He'll move to Brazil
With bucks, bucks in the bank
Bucks, bucks in the bank
Bucks, bucks in the bank
Art for art's sake
Heart like a snake
Truth love and beauty
Give us your booty....money
Say hello to my god, I'd like you to meet my dealer
He split with my wad, you know I'd never squeal or
He'd damage my bod, he'd pull out his rod, he'd plant me in sod
Could be danger
I'll move to Brazil
Forget the bucks, bucks in the bank
Bucks, bucks in the bank
Bucks, bucks in the bank
Art for art's sake
Heart like a snake
Truth love and beauty
Give us your booty....money
Art for art's sake
Heart like a snake
Truth love and beauty
Give us your booty....money

This is from an old comedy tv show 'The Goodies' (they had something about Gibbon's)
- Funky Gibbon -
We're the Goodies - How do you do?
We've just been down to the zoo
We saw a monkey in a cage
Doing a dance that could be the rage
It's not hard - so let's all do
The Funky Gibbon - oo oo oo
Do Do Do the Funky Gibbon
We are here to show you how
Oo oo oo the Funky Gibbon
He's just like you - so come on and do
The Funky Gibbon now
Dogs are always howling
Cats are always yowling
But Gibbons only like to sing and dance
You be like that monkey
Get a little funky
And in a while, you'll start to smile
Gibbon half a chance
Do Do Do the Funky Gibbon
We are here to show you how
Oo oo oo the Funky Gibbon
He's just like you - so come on and do
The Funky Gibbon now
G - The world would be good
I - know how nice it could
B - with just a little Gibbon take
B - just like that Gibbon
O - you'll feel the rhythm
N - you'll groove and dance up to
The Planet of the Apes
Do Do Do the Funky Gibbon
We are here to show you how
Oo oo oo the Funky Gibbon
He's just like you - so come on and do
The Funky Gibbon now
Everybody get ready to do the Funky Gibbon
Drop one arm down by your knees
Let the other arm reach up to the trees
Let your wrist go limp like a bent baboon
And get ready to sing this Gibbon's tune
Will you give me an oo? - oo
Give me another oo - oo
Give me another oo - oo
Put them together And what have you got?
Oo oo oo oo oo oo 'Whoop' .. Oo
Oo oo oo ooooo etc.
Do Do Do the Funky Gibbon
We are here to show you how
Oo oo oo the Funky Gibbon
He's just like you - so come on and do
The Funky Gibbon now ...

(Can I go on a mini rant here?)
Wow, I've never heard of The Bobs, but that song (at least its title) shows me a lot of what's wrong with a lot of groups today. The Beach Boys, in my opinion, are awesome! It's just sad that they are forever stereotyped as only a sun and fun band from the early '60s when they are and were very influential band and have tons of great stuff that most people have never heard (especially people in their teens-20's, my age group). Even the Beatles were influenced by them- Paul McCartney has said that one of his favorite songs is "God Only Knows." If you ever read interviews, you'll see that a lot of people cite Brian Wilson as a major influence on their songwriting and arranging.
How many people own or have heard of the album "Pet Sounds"? That's some wonderful stuff and one of my absolute favorite albums. How about "Smile" (or know that a Brian Wilson studio release of that lost album is coming out next Tuesday)?
Well, I guess I could go on, but back to the topic of the thread. Oh and that "two girls for every boy" line is Jan and Dean, not the Beach Boys.
"I Just Wasn't Made for These Times" By, The Beach Boys
I've been looking for a place to fit in where I can speak my mind.
I've been trying hard to find the people that I won't leave behind.
They say I've got brains, but they ain't doin' me no good...I wish they could...
Each time things start to happen again
I think I got something good goin' for myself and what goes wrong...
Sometimes I feel very sad. (Ain't found the right thing I can put my heart and soul into.)
Sometimes I feel very sad.
Sometimes I feel very sad. (My friends don't want me.)
I guess I just wasn't made for these times.
Every time I get the inspiration to go change things around,
no one wants to help me look for places
where new things might be found.
Where can I turn when my fair-weather friends cop out?
What's it all about?
Each time things start to happen again
I think I got something good goin' for myself and what goes wrong...
Sometimes I feel very sad. (Ain't found the right thing I can put my heart and soul into.)
Sometimes I feel very sad.
Sometimes I feel very sad. (My friends don't want me.)
I guess I just wasn't made for these times (repeats)

Actually Shredder, this song is about 20 years old, or so. I don't think they they actually hated the Beach Boys (and I don't either). It's more a song about the guys dispair of living somewhere that is really peppy and happy when he is not. It reminds him of how far away he is from his happiness and the woman he loves.
Sorry if I've offended anyone with it. Really, I do like the Beach Boys.

Helter Skelter-The Beatles...The Bobs did their own version too...
When I get to the bottom I go back to the top of the slide
Where I stop and I turn and I go for a ride
Till I get to the bottom and I see you again
Yeah yeah yeah
Do you, don’t you want me to love you
I’m coming down fast but I’m miles above you
Tell me, tell me, tell me, come on tell me the answer
You may be a lover but you ain’t no dancer
Helter skelter, helter skelter, helter skelter yeah
Will you, won’t want me to make you
I’m coming down fast but don’t let me break you
Tell me, tell me, tell me the answer
You may be a lover but you ain’t no dancer
Look out helter skelter, helter skelter, helter skelter
Look out ’cause here she comes
When I get to the bottom I go back to the top of the slide
And I stop and I turn and I go for a ride
And I get to the bottom and I see you again
Yeah yeah yeah
Well do you, don’t want me to make you
I’m coming down fast but don’t let me break you
Tell me, tell me, tell me your answer
You may be a lover but you ain’t no dancer
Look out helter skelter, helter skelter, helter skelter
Look out helter skelter, she’s coming down fast
Yes she is, yes she is coming down fast

Aftershave and smoke
And the same unfunny jokes
They say they'll take you "Anywhere
But there"
Believe every half-whispered
Half-remembered lie
Where truth is a luxury
They can't afford to buy
Scapegoat
Looking for a scapegoat
There's always someone else for you to blame
Backed into a corner
He barricades his life
Fastens up the shutters every night
This island is big enough
For every castaway
But most of us are looking round
For someone else to blame
Scapegoat
Looking for a scapegoat
There's always someone else for you to blame
Later,

blind to the answers, find yourself,
walk for the moment, find the reason in yourself,
theres a reason for you and i,
take this time to find a meaning,
a reason to sit back and measure the worst 6 years of my life,
waiting for your legs to close on my best friends,
last night i saw your life flash before my eyes,
why did i laugh so hard baby?
(you won't be back and i'm still laughing)
i never meant to hurt you (but i did)
i'm sorry that you cried so hard darling,
i'll never hurt you again,
take this time to find your tongue,
a sorry excuse to stop your lies,
the best 30 seconds of my life,
my angel take your pills,
my angel i sold your ring,
and now i can't stop laughing,
i didnt want it this way,
i hope you're happy where you are
and i'm glad to say i put you there,
who's the one that's laughing now,
i'm the one who's laughing now
(now theres nothing left to say
i hope you're feeling my embrace, and i can't sleep)
you should have left me sleeping,
you should have let me sleep...

"Woe to you, Oh Earth and Sea, for the Devil sends the
beast with wrath, because he knows the time is short...
Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the
beast for it is a human number, its number is Six hundred and
sixty six."
[Revelations Ch. XIII v.18]
I left alone my mind was blank
I needed time to think to get the memories from my mind
What did I see can I believe that what I saw
that night was real and not just fantasy
Just what I saw in my old dreams were they
reflections of my warped mind staring back at me
'Cos in my dream it's always there the evil face that twists my mind
and brings me to despair
The night was black was no use holding back
'Cos I just had to see was someone watching me
In the mist dark figures move and twist
Was this all for real or some kind of hell
666 the number of the beast
Hell and fire was spawned to be released
Torches blazed and sacred chants were praised
As they start to cry hands held to the sky
In the night the fires burning bright
The ritual has begun Satan's work is done
666 the number of the beast
Sacrifice is going on tonight
This can't go on I must inform the law
Can this still be real or just some crazy dream
But I feel drawn towards the evil chanting hordes
They seem to mesmerise me ... can't avoid their eyes
666 the number of the beast
666 the one for you and me
I'm coming back I will return
And I'll possess your body and I'll make you burn
I have the fire I have the force
I have the power to make my evil take it's course
Se ya,
Exhale Saga
PS. Just so you know, I'm not some sory of devil worshipper. This song is actually about the Bible.
I...love you...fellow listener of the Maiden...
I'm waiting in my cold cell when the bell begins to chime
Reflecting on my past life and it doesn't have much time
Cos at 5 o'clock they take me to the Gallows Pole
The sands of time for me are running low
When the priest comes to read me the last rites
I take a look through the bars at the last sights
Of a world that has gone very wrong for me
Can it be there's some sort of error
Hard to stop the surmounting terror
Is it really the end not some crazy dream
Somebody please tell me that I'm dreaming
It's not so easy to stop from screaming
But words escape me when I try to speak
Tears they flow but why am I crying
After all I am not afraid of dying
Don't believe that there is never an end
As the guards march me out to the courtyard
Someone calls from a cell "God be with you"
If there's a God then why has he let me die?
As I walk all my life drifts before me
And though the end is near I'm not sorry
Catch my soul cos it's willing to fly away
Mark my words please believe my soul lives on
Please don't worry now that I have gone
I've gone beyond to see the truth
When you know that your time is close at hand
maybe then you'll begin to understand
Life down there is just a strange illusion.
There's a time to live and a time to die
When it's time to meet the maker
There's a time to live but isn't it strange
That as soon as you're born you're dying...
... and reborn again?

Madness "House of Fun"
Good morning miss
Can I help you son?
Sixteen today
And up for fun
I’m a big boy now
Or so they say
So if you’ll serve
I’ll be on my way
Box of balloons
With the feather-light touch
Pack of party-poppers
That pop in the night
A toothbrush and hairspray
Plastic grin
Miss clay on all corners
Has just walked in
Welcome to the house of fun
Now I’ve come of age
Welcome to the house of fun
Welcome to the lion’s den
Temptation’s on his way
Welcome to the house of
N-n-n-n-n-n-no no miss
You misunderstood
Sixteen big boy
Full pint in my manhood
I’m up to date
And the date’s today
So if you’ll serve
I’ll be on my way
Welcome to the house of fun
Now I’ve come of age
Welcome to the lion’s den
Temptation’s on his way
Welcome to the house of (fun)
I’m sorry son
But we don’t stock
Party gimmicks
In this shop
Try the house of fun
It’s quicker if you run
This is a chemist’s
Not a joke shop!
Party hats
Simple enough clear
Comprehende savvy understand
Do you hear?
A pack of party hats
With the coloured tips
Too late!
Gorgon heard gossip
Well hello joe, hello miss clay
Many happy returns from the day
Welcome to the house of fun
Now I’ve come of age
Welcome to the house of fun
Welcome to the lion’s den
Temptation’s on his way
Welcome to the house of fun
Welcome to the house of fun...

My Monkey by Marilyn Manson (lyrics written by Charles Manson

)
I had a little monkey
I sent him to the country and I fed him on gingerbread
Along came a choo choo, knocked my monkey coo-coo
And now my monkey's dead
At least he looks that way, but then again don't we all?
(what I make is what I am, I can't be forever)
I had a little monkey
I sent him to the country and I fed him on gingerbread
Along came a choo choo, knocked my monkey coo-coo
And now my monkey's dead
Poor little monkey
"make you...break you...make you...break you...lookout"
(what I make is what I am, I can't be forever)
We are out own wicked gods
With little "g's" and big d****
Sadistic and constantly inflicting a slow demise*
I sent him to the country and I fed him on gingerbread
Along came a choo choo, knocked my monkey coo-coo
And now my monkey's dead
The primate's scream of consonance is a reflection
Of his own mind's dissonance
*note- slow demise is often confused with sodomize

Truthfully
This isn't what I like to call flattery,
But I know that I believe that I've found what's true,
That I've found what's you.
Truthfully I
I'm finding finally.
Truthfully you
You helped me find at last.
Truthfully we
Are finding out what's true.
And Truthfully I am finding out what's you.
Surprise, cause I was flying the plane.
Surprise, cause now I'm smiling again.
Surprise, cause you showed up with your parachute.
Surprise, I'm kind of happy you showed up.
Truthfully I
I'm finding finally.
Truthfully you
You helped me find at last.
Truthfully we
Are finding out what's true.
And Truthfully I am finding out what's you.
Truthfully, I really can't explain, I'm floating, I'm smiling again.
Truthfully, I can't ignore you, cause I've been waiting for you.
Truthfully, I'm not desperate, I haven't changed my mind since we first met,
But the last thing that I want to do is to tell you that I'm right for you.
Truthfully I
I'm finding finally.
Truthfully you
You helped me find at last.
Truthfully we
Are finding out what's true.
And Truthfully I am finding out what's you.
I'm finding finally.
Truthfully, I'm finding out what's you.
I'm smiling again.
Truthfully

This is one of the songs from Norah Jones' second album that I actually liked. Most of the second album just doesn't sound as good as the first one, in my opinion. I think they rushed her to put the second one out and that was definitely a bad thing...
Anyway, here it is:
Norah Jones - "Those Sweet Words"
What did you say?
I know I saw you singing
But my ears won't stop ringing
Long enough to hear those sweet words
What did you say?
End of the day
The hour hand has spun
But before the night is done
I just have to hear those sweet words
Spoken like a melody
All your love is a lost balloon
Rising up through the afternoon
'Til it could fit on the head of a pin
Come on in
Did you have a hard time sleeping
'Cause the heavy moon was keeping you awake?
And all I know is
I'm just glad to see you again
See my love like a lost balloon
Rising up through the afternoon
And then you appear
What did you say?
I know what you were singing
But my ears won't stop ringing
Long enough to hear those sweet words
And your simple melody
I just have to hear those sweet words
Spoken like a melody
I just want to hear those sweet words

This is for my orange vested friend:
Girl, I've known you very well
I've seen you growin' ev'ry day
I never really looked before
But now you take my breath away
Suddenly you're in my life
Part of ev'ry thing I do
You got me working day and night
Just tryin' to keep a hold on you
Here in your arms I found my paradise
My only chance for happiness
And if I lose you now, I think I would die
Oh, say you'll always be my baby
We can make it shine
We can take forever just a minute at a time
*More that a woman
More that a woman to me babay
More than a woman
More than a woman to me
More than a woman
There are stories old and true
Of people so in love like you and me
And I can see myself, let history repeat itself
Reflecting how I feel for you
Thinkin' 'bout those people then
I know that in a thousand years
I'd fall in love with you again
This is the only way that we should fly
This is the only way to go
And if I lose your love, I know I would die
Oh, say you'll always be my baby
We can make it shine
We can take forever just a minute at a time
