The story:
This guy, Martin Leung, one day with his friends, made a video of him playing Super Mario themes on the piano. The most popular title theme was done blindfolded, the rest were done playing normally. The movie was put on ebaums world. and it became popular there.
Leung became so popular that he started a website where he has, available for free download, movies and mp3s of him playing different video games.
http://www.videogamepianist.com/
it really is amazing to watch how he plays. he can move he hands so freakin' quick.. and he does it all from memory. no sheet music.
Leung, or The Video Game Pianist (VGP) also has a myspace site, http://www.myspace.com/videogamepianist where there is more information on him, and a video clip from MTV Overdrive about VGP. you can learn how he got started and where he is today.
I've already downloaded videos of his Super Mario Medley, and his Legend of Zelda Medley. for mp3s, i have all the Mario ones, all Zelda, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Halo 2.
also, as a young arranger and transcriber myself, i emailed him for tips. he said the best thing to do was to just keep practicing .
check out the sites. listen to the music. it really is just.. jaw dropping
