Terrible american remakes of foriegn films?

When you think about it, the topic is a bit redundant.
Remakes are 90% rubbish by default.
Remaking films is just a bad idea. Remaking a foreign film may be a worse one,
I wouldn't know. I haven't watched many.

-The Birdcage
-Dawn of the Dead
-The Producers
-The Manchurian Candidtate
-Homeward Bound (Incredible Journey Remake, though the sequels sucked)
-The Maltese Falcon
-Miracle on 34th Street
-The Italian Job
-Point of No Return
-Heat (TV Movie remake)
-Ocean's Eleven
-Psycho
-A Fistful of Dollars (Yojimbo remake)

Oh, and I guess Charlie and the Chocolate Factory could count, too.

Speaking of which...YOU LOSE! GOOD DAY SIR!

90%. 90%!!

God, I need to stop trying to make points when I'm half asleep.

EDIT:
I'm sorry for the blatant generalization of remakes. Yes, a lot of them
are indeed very good. Classic, even.
I have not watched more than one or two remakes, and I
really have no business commenting on them.

However, I can say with confidence that the remakes of Bewitched,
Garfield and Yours, Mine and Ours were very poor.
If only by intuition and word-of-mouth.

There was an earlier Garfield movie?

Oh also..IT'S GARFIELD. The source material can't really be denegrated, since it's about an obese cat that dislikes mondays.

Well, if you count the animated holiday specials.

Even those were better than the animated series.
