Send Your Queries to "ask [as]"
01/11/2006
Do you watch Adult Swim? Have you ever wanted to ask questions to the people behind the scenes? Are you considered a habitual offender in the eyes of the United States Federal Courts?
If you answered yes to the first two questions and a no or qualified maybe to the third, then you might be interested in ask [as], the newest feature on AdultSwim.com.
Every whenever we feel like it, we'll announce a special guest for ask [as]. Then, you can send in whatever question is on your mind to
askas@adultswim.com. We'll pick a variety of questions and get you the answers you want.
Our first special guests are Kim Manning and Nick Weidenfeld. Kim is active in acquiring and scheduling anime and [as] action shows. Nick is a grand poobah for development in comedy and one of the creators behind the forthcoming pilot God Bless, Mississippi. And they share an office. And one of them is the parent of a beautiful baby baboon.
Kim and Nick's answers will be posted in mid-February, so send in your questions to
askas@adultswim.com no later than Tuesday, January 31.
By the way, here are a few ground rules: Don't send attachments. Don't pitch shows. Don't drink the water.

I did my part, sent a questioning letter.
I would lay off questions concerning the plot of the show that may seem acusatory. We really just want to show our positive support for more Big O. And besides we don't know for certain if Big O was really altered by CN or not and even if it were that's not something AS would have any control and/or knowledge over.
Thanks for the head's up, PD.
edit: Sent my question

Hi, I'm Dorks_wuv_Geeks on [AS] forums.
My question for Nick and Kim is 'Is there any interest within Adult Swim in finishing 'The Big O'? Is it a lost cause for fans of 'The Big O' to hope for a final season and if not what, if anything, could the show's fans do to help 'The Big O's chances?'
Thanks for listening,

Last time they totally cheaped out on answering my question.
But even though I haven't been to the AS forums in over a year I'll send 'em an email.

Too bad that I am watching the Big O on Cartoon Network, and not on Adult Swim. And too bas that I have still not watched the 26th episode, because CN didn't display it the day they had to display this episode! Why ? Because of a time delay, or something like this.
Thus I can't say if a third season is needed to understand the scenario. Maybe the scenario finishes in 2 seasons only. My heart says that I WANT A THIRD SEASON . Because I love the Big O ! I always think about this anime.
A third season ? WELCOME TO IT ! Maybe if Hollywood is interested in making the Big O movie, it is better to get a
trilogy than two episodes.
Anyway, I can't vote 'FOR' a third season. I want it,
I want the third season, but I can't vote

Hello, [as]!
Thank you for having this query open to all of us fans out there! It's great that you've provided this opportunity for your viewers, and I know that I really appreciate it.
Many of my friends and I are very, very loyal The Big O fans. We were overjoyed when Cartoon Network worked with Sunrise to provide a second season to The Big O, and we are indeed still very thankful for it. However, we feel that there can be more to the story of The Big O than just where it ended (Sunrise writer Chiaki Konaka even admitted to there being much of the plot left out). I'm curious, as I am sure my comrades are, too, about the opinions you fine fellows over at [as] might have about The Big O, and whether it's possible for it to ever get a third season.
What are your personal and professional thoughts on The Big O? What are your personal and professional thoughts on a third season?
Thank you again!

Mistress-Samwise,
The letter sounds really good! The only thing is I don't know is if Konaka has communicated to what extent materials were left out of BIG-O, only that it could continue. But, through the Sunrise official sourcebook, we've learned that the ending of Season 2 apparently was altered from the original script...and it was reported during BIG-O 2's run in 2003 by TVWeek.com that "If the series succeeds in the Adult Swim rotation, the network has the option to order 26 more episodes."
So maybe this sentense:
"Sunrise writer Chiaki Konaka even admitted to there being much of the plot left out," should be more like: "Sunrise writer Chiaki Konaka has even expressed interest before and as of Dec 2005, in continuing The BIG-O."
It doesn't have to be like that, though. Make it your own. Thanks for helping out with BIG-O 3's campaign! ^_^

Hehe, I haven't been here in ages, being a Drome-dweller kept me rather busy and all that. And then the cable-company (aka. "Greedy Provider" TM) took CN off the air. So I took desperate measures and now I have finally, finally seen every Big O episode there is. The manga used to be published here, but they cancelled it, because it was in a sort of anthology and that didn't go all too well.
Anyways, so much from me, and yes, I sent in a question.

My question:
As a Big O fanatic, I'm curious to know if there will ever be a season 3 following on from the inconclusive and question raising Act 26. Also, if there is to be a season 3 will it be aired in England? As we poor fellows, although we have access to Cartoon Network and Toonami we don't have access to Adultswim. However that isn't the point, the point is will there be a season 3?

A third season? Why not. It will be better to conclude 'the Big O' by a more optimistic scenario. At the end of the 26th episode we see Roger saying like in the first episode "My name is ....... Roger Smith" with hesitation at this time.
I see the third season : like the two first ones, but with changes in the scenario, but another end : Angel will choose "the good door" like in 'the Matrix 2'.
Hum ..... I write anything !

One of my theories is that... Hang on I'll see if I've got it saved on here... Damn I don't oh-well I'll retype:
One of my theories is this:
--- Paradigm Resets, obviously, but can be changed by the current Director of the Stage, but their appears to ether be a glitch or a 'program' which allow for change in more subtle things; meta-memories or lost memories for example.
Meta-memories, are a creation of my dads, they are memories of memories E.G. "I remember remembering that but I forgotten what 'that' is."
So every time Paradigm resets and the amnesia sets in things change, this is one scenario:
---1: Roger Smith and Dorothy Wayneright are close; it is unsure how close the relationship was. Act 26 comes around, Dorothy can't save Roger because she is a human and/or Roger can't negotiate successfully.
RESET
---2: Roger Smith seems to remember Dorothy Wayneright. But Dorothy has also got semi-memories of this man who she hasn't met, instead of being interested she is scared and avoids him. Roger has a different job, he didn't think he could be a good negotiator thanks to meta-memories of the last Act 26. Roger is called to negotiate (?) but can't do so successfully; no practice/ isn't saved.
RESET
---3 (current): Roger has meta-memories of Dorothy but not strong enough worry him, same goes for her. They have a 'sort of' relationship, their memories of each other grow as time goes on. Dorothy (being an android) can save Roger, who this time has had practice at negotiating?
RESET???
--4 (next): Possibly a repeat of 1 or 2 depending on strength of memories.
Paradigm is reset again and again to see if human actions can be predicted, the future predicted and if history does repeat its self.

Season 3 news doesn't get too much publicity on Paradigm-City.com, but at its partner site, SBO, you can read a lot of information on the fate of BIG-O 3 and what's being done to make it come out. Currently, the creators wouldn't mind doing it, but Cartoon Network doesn't want to fund it. The most recent campaign deals with sending an email inquiring about BIG-O 3 to the email address at the beginning of this thread.
If we can get it to North America, I'm sure we can get it to England! (or, if you guys end up getting it first, hopefully you won't mind sending it across the Atlantic pond). peace.

I also feared that CN ill not display 'the Big O' time ago. I remember in August 2003, when the second seaosn was displayed Outre-Atlantic. I had to wait over 2 years to get it in French in CN.
Thus I believe I will see, according to me, the third season, if it will be created, in 5 years ! DOH!
