Paradigm City Places?

Memory#8 01-02-2006 04:16 PM
My friend and i are begining a fan-fiction mixing Big-O and a few of our other favorite anime series'. What i need some help on is finding any specific names that are given in the Big-O series. Names such as those of places, streets, certain clubs or restaurants.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Also, how many domes are there in Paradigm City, 6 or 8?

I don't think there is a specific number of domes. they probably want to build more anyway, to prevent over population or something. There has been a "West Dome Number 5" so one might be able to assume that there could be 5 or so domes in every cardinal direction, as well as the main center dome.

The Speakeasy and Amadeus are two pubs that Roger visits.

The farm where Gordon Rosewater lives is called Ailesberry. There are abandoned ruins of the Grand Central Station from New York.

Military names:
Major/Colonol Daustin
(former) Lt. Roger Smith
i believe there was a Colonol Gauos and other military officers named in the episode "A Call From the Past"
R. Freddy works for the Paradigm Corp.
Alex Rosewater is the CEO of the Paradigm corp and like a mayor/president of the city
Angel (under the name Patricia Lovejoy) works as Alex's Secretary for a number of episodes.

baddies:
Jason Beck (Beck Gold in the manga)
Alan Gabrial (former Union rep, then did his own thing in paradigm)
Vera whatsherlastname (french accent, leader of the union localized in Paradigm, one of Rosewater's tomatos, possibly w/memories of Angel's 'mother')

other:
Timothy Wayneright- Dorothy's creator
Soldano: man who funded R.Dorothy's contruction
Instro: android built by Amadeus, possibly w/memories of his son, that plays piano at the pub Amadeus

and of course, Roger Smith, R. Dorothy, and Norman Burg

there are many, many others in the show, but those are the ones i myself could think of off the top of my head. i don'tremember everyone's name, unfortunately x.x

There's a particular shot in one of the episodes - I think it's the one before "Hydra" - where the screen pulls back and you get a good look at the city from above. I'll have to watch it again, but it shows approximately how many domes are in the central part of the city. In some of the later episodes, (22 and 23) you can see that there are roughly 9 domes on the bay-side of Paradigm dome, and at least 2 or 3 on the desert side. There are also about 3 or 4 on the left side of the river. You can make out some of them in "Twisted Memories," but it's hard to tell exactly how many there are. So, that makes about 16 domes. Ailesberry is also a dome, but it isn't in the main part of the city. Most of the east domes are residential. Most of the west domes are (I'm guessing) either commercial or industrial, with similar buildings to what we see in Paradigm dome. I think there's at least one exception to this - remember that eastern dome in the Christmas episode? It's full of large buildings, like the central one.

Other places of note:

Nighting-gale is the lounge where Dorothy sings in the first few episodes. It's also where Ellen Weight was killed in the last episode of season 1.

Roger's house is on 72nd street, in the "illegal residential" sector.

Johnny's oil bar is downtown, not far from the military police headquarters. There are also a few other places, like the McGowan Hotel, mentioned in one of the earlier episodes (I think it's day of the Advent, I haven't watched back over it yet), and Gordon's villa, which is in one of the eastern domes. So far, that's all I can remember. If I think of anything else, I'll let you know.

Some Places of note-

Paradigm Dome: The center most dome with Alex Rosewater's headquarters are. I think it's gold colored, and probably has most of the rich and powerful living there.

JFK Mark: An airport out in the wastelands where the Big O first met the Big Duo.

The Subway: Series of old, broken subway tunnels that run beneath Paradigm City. People are afraid to go down there, and in one episode Roger finds the remains of a Big. There was also a center close to where Roger found the Big where Alex is building Big Fau and rebuilding Big Duo. Norman sends the Big O through these tunnels.

Electric City: A city lying outside of Paradigm City which is located next to a dam. People here have been without electricity for a while due to the fear of a creature who lived in the dam's reservoir, which Roger defeated.

Places outside the Domes: A run down area where much of the poor live. There are many old buildings and much of the buildings are in poor condition. Places here are probably ridden with crime and is not cared for by the Paradigm Government.

The Country: Only known resident is Alex's father, Gordon Rosewater, who runs a Tomato Farm.

Some Clubs

The Speakeasy: A club Roger goes to get information from a man named the "Big Ear".

Amadeus Pub: A pub which has a robot who plays a piano.

East Town, as it's called. "A mostly artifiical place" in Roger's words. Alex Rosewater seems to keep a villa there as well, as do Roscoe Fitzgerald and his wife.

Something I also noticed. In that shot where it shows a flyover of Paradigm City in black and white (you are reffering to the monochrome one, correct?) in an old timey film look, notice that the flyover has been taken recently, as you can see the paradigm corporation tower leaining into the dome surrounding it, which happened not to long before the shot is shown. This baffles me. I can eliminate the theory that that style of camera is the best they had at the time (apart from the modern-day cameras underground) because of all the far superior technology already in Paradigm City (apart from adroids/medadei). I almost thought that it might have been an error by the Sunrise editing team or by some position in the production offices, but they again, the Big O is surprisingly error-free.
