We don't need to control the banks.
What we need to do is take a lesson from Goldfinger. He who controls the gold controls the world, since currencies are backed by gold.

I think Resident Evil REmake was the best one.
Resident Evil 4 was a great game, but it just didn't feel lke Resident Evil. There was way too much ammo, not enough puzzles, and it wasn't scary enough. It's too much of an action game.
I'm not saying it's a bad game, I think it was one of the best games I've ever played. It just isn't much of a Resident Evil game. It was kinda like asking for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and getting Halo 2 instead. It was great but not exactly what I was looking for. I just think Resident Evil should just stick to being Resdent Evil and not try to become something else.

I geuss, in fact your absoulutely right! like resident evil outbreak, the thing that scared ya was that constant moan of zombies and the fact that you couldn't move and shoot (which is realistic because if you move and shoot you usually miss... I should know) in resident evil 4 its kinda like "hey, i'm gonna blast you with this coviently found shotgun with this convienietly found ammo I found in that monsters head over there"....

I'm astounded how I can still manage to run low on ammo, yeah.
And there are...well there are scary PARTS. After a while I think the games HAD to shift away from their pattern. Really the only true 'survival horror' game I can even think of would be silent hill (maybe it's just the fact you're often using scavanged wooden planks and lead pipes and so forth as weapons. It really does seem to lend itself more to the idea of using anything available to stay alive).
Really the other games..relied mostly on things jumping out at you. Resident Evil 4 is more a general "oh god how am I going to make it when theres six guys with pitchforks crying out for my blood". As much as I love zombies..they could only take the franchise in so many new directions. And I'd rather have an improvement on the general control scheme and enemy types (and it was a great improvement at that) than periodic attempts to break into new areas..such as resident evil:survivor. Which again, is the video game eqivilent of lymphoma.
Also...you can't tell me the sound of that chainsaw revving up didn't make you at least SOMEWHAT uneasy.

Resident Evil and scarey aren't words I associate with each other but I do like the series. I for one liked the way RE 4 was set up. Like sharp said, I liked the enemies are actually tough even the cannon fodder ones, well in groups. Plus Leon got to come back because Leon owns all, well Chris and Kevin to as well. Plus the villagers speaking spanish was rockin.

...What? No enemy in RE4 is tough. Only Mr. Salvador in Mercenaries and the Garradors are serious contenders, and then only due to cheese.
RE1 had TOUGH monsters, and so did REmake. Hunters and Crimson Heads respectively. Oh lord.

They lose their toughness entirely after the very first one, which you can just run past.
Once you're armed with the thermal scope and the semi-automatic rifle, it's a cakewalk.

The only hunters that I personally though where hard where the ones in Outbreak. I can't speak for the remake, as I haven't bothered to play it. On a side note, anybody have any theories who we'll be playing as in RE5? Judging by the screen shoots, it looks like Chris (thank god) or even Kevin from outbreak but that is a rather small chance.

It becomes increasingly apparent I am just
bad at this game in alot of ways...oh well..it's still more than worth it.
They're only tough through numbers though, or through situations. Like if the environment gives them an advantage.
Really..The only example I can think of is that one elevator. The one before you fight Salazar...where there are cultists (obviously with the head-busting parasites) that drop down..and some are armed..and there are also crossbow wielding snipers firing at you. And it's an enclosed elevator that dosen't go terribly fast.

Exactly. Garradors? Total wusses solo. Same goes for any chainsaw freak.
In groups?
Oh GOD THE PAIN.

I personally think the older prototype RE3.5 would have been a better Resident Evil 4 before they scrapped it and completely remade everything.
For those of you who don't know what RE 3.5 is:
-it was the old unfinished resident evil 4 that was completely scrapped in favor of the current version of RE4.
-it used a combination of the old Resident Evil camera angles and the Resident Evil 4 over-the-shoulder aiming system.
-It was mostly indoors.
-Many areas were really dark, requiring the use of a flashlight. (however, unlike doom3, you were able to use a flashlight with the handgun.)
-The handgun was larger and more powerful, almost like a magnum, and it was a lot more important as Leon's primary weapon.
-Leon was infected with a virus that seemed to cause hallucinations at certain points in the game (like being attacked by curtains). Whenever Leon might be seeing things that weren't really there, all the light in the room would appear to be blue.
-it had zombies that were able to use weapons, but they weren't as fast or as smart as the ganados from the current version of RE4. However, they were certainly a lot more difficult to kill.
I have no idea why they decided to scrap that version of RE4. It seemed to have a good combination of old RE elements and the newer stuff. Also it looked a lot more scary. However, we'll probably never know what it would have been like if they decided to use it instead of the current RE4.
I think IGN showed some gameplay videos of RE3.5, but I can't seem to find them right now.

Not to be confused with Resident Evil 1.5 (the scrapped prototype of 2). Which would have had
-Grenades
-Equippable armor
-Ada's character not being a spy in any way at all
Among a number of other things, wikipedias got some blurb on it.

It should be noted that many hardcore Resident Evil fans really really hate RE4. They generally say it's "dumbed down trash that ruined the series and all that is Resident Evil". Also when hardcore fans discuss RE4 the phrase "That brainless third person shooting game pretending to be Resident Evil" is often used.
I do in fact half agree with them in that I found REmake and Resident Evil 2 much more fun than RE4. However, I never really thought of RE4 as "brainless trash". It's really not Resident Evil, but it's still a great game. I personally think they should have made it more of a side-game instead of part of the main series.
RE4 is a great game, but it isn't really a good example of the series as a whole. If you really want an Resident Evil game, REmake is the way to go. If you just want a fun action game then you should get RE4 as soon as possible.
