I know somewhere in Tokyo, the folks at Section 9 are developing a plan to screw them over, just like I screwed them over in the Direction category. I gave Watanabe two nominations for this category with Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo and between two out of the four people that actually voted, I think you'll agree to a certain degree as well.

Nine XXVI's Picks: Big O, Cowboy Bebop
Peace.

Welcome everybody to the 2006 Academy Animated Awards!

This thread is for Best Director and I've made some updates on the last year version, showing what the details of the Best Director category all about, who won, and who else was nominated for the award.

Best Director Presenter: Nine XXVI

Like last year, you get to vote for two of the nominees. And those nominees are:

:: Kazuyoshi Katayama - The Big O

:: Satoshi Nishimura - Trigun

:: Shinichiro Watanabe - Samurai Champloo

Peace.

God, what's up with you guys and Watanabe?

I really like Kamiyama's work, from the first SAC season and even more so in 2nd GIG. I read an interview with him in Anime Insider and he said he got inspiration for his work for such things like the Iraqi War, baseball, the World Cup, and Taxi Driver. So yeah, I'm down with Kamiyama.

Also, I like what Nishimura did with Trigun. Nice touch of humor, action, and drama and it was really poetic at times as well.

So take that, Watanabe. I'm kiddin', I like his work as well.
Peace.

Satoshi Nishimura and Kazuyoshi Katayama. Trigun for the Win as usual.

Watanabe wins this by a landslide.

Funny, it looks like a tie between Kamiyama and Watanabe to me.

Speaking of that, if anybody hasn't voted here yet, can they break the tie here for Best Director?

See, if its one thing I can't stand, its a tie.
Peace.
