BIG-O fans, I received an email response today (12/6/05) from Konaka-san himself (the head writer of BIG-O)! On 11/22/05 I emailed him and thanked him for Seasons 1 and 2. I essentially said that they were enjoyed by many. I then asked if he would write a BIG-O Season 3. His response:
Hello.
Thank you for enjoying "The Big-O".
Unfortunately, there is no project about the "Season 3".
But If you and fans of "The Big-O" want it,
The staff of "The Big-O" could be reunion.
Regards.

Basically, this seems to state that BIG-O 3 is possible if the fans can create an opportunity for it. What all that entails is not so clear however.
Many thanks go out to Konaka-san for being so generous as to write a direct response to the BIG-O fans.

rockin. That gives me some hope for season 3. Perhaps Mr. Konaka can get the crew back together.

Excellent.
At least we know he is fine with continuing the show and the ending wasn't really all that final.

Thanks for posting his response! It's encouraging to know that there is a possibility that the original Japanese staff could reunite to work on another season. Now all we need to know is what kind of demand would be necessary. Would American fan support along with Cartoon Network's funding be sufficient, or are they looking for Japanese fan support as well? Regardless, I think
this is our best hope for raising support on the American side.

If cartoon network won't fund it, do you think it would be Possible for someone else to fund it? or perhaps we could convince Sunrise.

CN would be the best option since they have done it before, but if they're not interested, I'm sure there are other companies that might be. Bandai would be a good choice since they are the ones who released the DVDs (even if it means that season 3 would be DVD-only). I agree that we should also try Sunrise, although they are always working on several shows at a time so they may be difficult to convince. Hopefully, the petition will be sent to all three companies, so we will know which ones are interested right away (and if none of them are, we would need to begin looking for other companies).

Agreed, another good choice would be bandai visual, as they are opening their US branch here soon and I think they had a hand in Big O in general. Also if Season III had to be DVD only, I'd sure know I'd buy it.
well one thing is for sure, this is a nice breath of fresh air. Who know's season III could be a nice treat in the near future.

I agree, we have to look at all our options. If we didn't look past CN, we'd be selling ourselves short.

Hey Paradigm Dog, I was curious if you would send me Konaka’s e-mail address; I would like to thank him and ask a few questions. Also, I was wondering where you got it from and if you have any other Big-O staff members’ e-mails. One last thing, did you send him the e-mail in English or Japanese?

That's excellent! ^.^
At least we know that there is hope, if only Cartoon Network would help us fans out a little but even if it doesn't make a return to network T.V. I would gladly buy the DVD!
