Lupin 3rd Question!

1. I really like the Geneon dub with Tony Oliver, Richard Epcar, and the gang. However, FUNIMATION's VAs have the cool movies like Island of Assassins. Do the different voice actors from FUNIMATION ruin the Lupin experience if you're used to Geneon's Voice Actors? (Plus, I assume that Geneon will never redub those movies).

2. If you could only choose to get 'Lupin III: Island of Assassins' or 'Lupin III: Dead or Alive,' which is the better film? I'm leaning very much toward Island of Assassins as it seems to have great action, animation, and a lot of screen time for the 4 main characters. Any thoughts?

Thanks a million!

I've only seen the first 20 minutes of Lupin III: Fujiko's Unlucky Days/Columbus Files movie. Personally, I can't stand the Funimation cast. The Geneon cast did a better job with the characters, and fit their roles quite well. Funimation's cast is too, eh cartoony and fake sounding. If you buy any of the Lupin III movies I suggest watching it subbed.

Well if I had a choice...I'd buy the movies with both English and Japanese audio, and just play the japanese audio with English subtitles Tongue

I prefer Pioneer's Geneon's Sweatdrop crew over what I've heard of the others. Tony Oliver nails Lupin's voice perfectly and Jake Martin...well Pops just isn't the same without him Big Grin

1. while not much of a Lupin fan, Geneon's cast is beyond that of funimation's. Tony Oliver nailed lupin. Although several funi va's have movied to LA so they might show up.

2. never seen either.

Agreed. Even though I adore the Japanese cast, Zenigata's voice in the dub is freaking awesome. I even prefer him over the original seiyuu.

1. I personally like Funimation adaption of Lupin as well as the Dub but I like Geneon's cast better.

2. I own most of the Lupin the 3rd movies licensed by Funimation. I reccomend you do go with Islang of Assassians it's more "Complete" than Dead or Alive. but you can buy from Geneon the Lupin the 3rd movie "Secret of Mamo" with Geneon's Dub cast.

<----------- HUGE LUPIN THE 3RD FAN....

Sadly, I've yet to see a single Lupin III movie, and I'm such a big fan of the series. I absolutely love the characters. Heh heh.

So I guess I'll just reach into my pocket and buy all of the Lupin movies. After all, anything worth doing is worth overdoing.
