Aeon Flux?

Hi, I haven't really posted on this sub-forum before so I appologize if this has already been discussed. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone here has watched much of Aeon Flux before? I can't say that I have seen even one episode from start to finish myself. But I do remember it being on MTV about 10 years ago. I see now that they are making a movie from the show as well. What I am wondering is, is that show any good? I doubt very much that it could hold a candle to Big O, but from what I remember it seemed kind of interesting. I'm thinking about getting ahold of it but I was wondering what people thought. If anyone here could give me an opinion I would appreciate it. I'm not even sure what I am looking for, but I have never spoken to anyone who has seen the show more than I have which is not very much. Let me know what you think. Any comparison to Big O would be appreciated.

If it's anything like "Reign: The conqueror" (same guy made both). It's a whole lot of nothing, made to look like it's deeper than the Mariana Trench.

I mean if you really over-analyze Big O...you'll wind up with at least semi-coherent theories.

Oh, also apparently she died in every episode or something...picture the running kenny gag from south park, except if they'd tried to make it out to be profound somehow.

My sister and I always watched the show way back when it was on the air on MTV around 10:00 (that was big time for me back then Big Grin ) Anyway, to be honest, I really don't remember that much of the series but I heard the film instead really along the lines of the series, think of it to be much of the lines of the Escaflowne movie. If you never saw the series, but just the movie then you're fine. But if you saw the series and then see the movie, then its :: WTF! ::

That's my take on it because I heard that it doesn't go with the series' storyline but MTV but the series back on the air to promote the movie in a sense.

Also, Charlize Theron is in it. Enough said, y'all...
Peace.

One of the coolest shows ever in the 90's made into a mediocre movie. It's worth seeing, but not amazing.

It's Marianas Trench. I never cared for the show. And the movie doesnt look like it will be any good either.

Reign sucked, but Aeon is mildly interesting. It was pretty wierd but not really, it was more aesthetically wierd.

I can't see how its even possible to translate that show into a live action movie without making it suck.

Interesting... Well, I think I'm going to give the show a shot. It doesn't seem like there are very many from what I can tell. Netflix only has 3 discs, so that should be easy to watch over winter break. Thanks to all for the input, it was quite helpful.

Ah yes, the original Aeon Flux series...That's one of my favorite memories from college, when my friends and I would gather in our floor's TV room and watch "Liquid Television" of which Aeon was a part. My guy friends just busted out laughing watching this uber chick with guns waste an entire room of armed guards. They would cascade to the ground like the divers in a synchronized Esther Williams number. Yeah, Aeon was great...and then when "Dogboy" came on we'd shut off the tube and go out drinking... Big Grin

The best episodes were the very first round when she didn't talk at all, everything had to be visually explained. (I'm sure that in order to help recoup their original investment, Chung's animation partners made sure that Aeon could be shown in many world markets and thereby eliminated the need for dialogue and dubbing from the start.)

When she and the other characters started talking, it wasn't so cool anymore.

And now Aeon has been resurrected in the new movie...I think I'll wait to see it when it comes to cable. Somehow I fear that the live action movie will pale in comparison to Aeon's original animated coolness.

They're both accepted spellings, but yeah.

I pretty much agree with that, ol' boy. It's like one of those movies that was amazing in its original media but looks like its going to blow at the movies. The most recent example of this would be the Fanstatic Four...

Anyway, I stayed up last night and checked out some episodes and I forgot how twisted and beautifully animated (regarding it was from the 90's) the whole series is. Also, Aeon Flux kind of reminds me of Motoko from Ghost in the Shell. I don't know if its the skimpy clothing or the way they handle business but they do resemble each other pretty closely.

So, MTV is bringing the episodes back and you should definetly check them out to see the whole buzz about Aeon Flux. And the good thing is, you can watch any episode and not know what the hell is going on and still get into it.
Peace.
