I'm so excited. Tomorrow night, I'm going to see They Might Be Giants in Eugene. I've been a fan of their music since I was introduced to Flood some 15 years ago, so actually seeing them live is going to be the fulfillment of a long-held wish.

I met them twice, saw them three times, and a friend of mine has everything of their autographed.

Have fun.

In an evening that started out with a power outage, just getting to the concert was an achievement. However, we made it there before the main set, and were not disappointed.

Unlike last year's Weird Al concert, there was no trouble with seating, by the simple expedient of very few people sitting down. Most of the auditorium was open floor, and people just stood and watched the band. And danced, or at least jumped up and down.

Perhaps the insultaing effect of the bodies between me and the speakers explains why, even though this concert was plenty loud, I wasn't deafened as I had been last year.

Flansburg said that their usual venues were dinner theater-type establishments, so it was different to play for a crowd that had "full use of its SAT scores." Nonetheless, the crowd was cheerfully enthusiastic and ready for any participation needed.

I enjoyed it very much, and hope the band makes it out west again soon.
