What about Beck? Is he Roger Smith's brother?!

"God damn it. I'm such a buffoon!" Beck famously admits in Act 26 but what do we really know about Beck? Is it remotely possible he's related to Roger Smith in any way? Funny how Beck gets introduced so quickly via Act 1. So what's his storyline and background? Any thoughts on this? BTW, Beck should get R.D. for his girlfriend. I don't think R.D. was killed in that episode. In any case, such a coupling would make a nice contrast between him and Roger Smith and Dorothy. And...hmmm...maybe Schwarzald's ghost would approve Beck being the new Dominus of Big Duo.

That's interesting but I really think that we have a bigger chance of getting a Season 3 then Roger Smith and Jason Beck having any type of background familiarity.
Even though I think that RD was pretty much destroyed in Act 13, I do think that Beck and RD would make a very interesting couple. Just think of all the jobs those two can pull together. Dastun and his men would have to worry about more than just megaduses.
Jason Beck as the dominuse of Big Duo? That's also interesting but will Schwartzwold let it fly (no pun intended)? I mean, Beck is a very interesting character and we have seen him effectively pilot megaduses before but I think Big Duo is more 'interested' you could say about finding the truth about Paradigm City, just like his dominuse Schwartzwold was. Beck doesn't seem like the one to give a damn about what Paradigm City really is, but really just to make some big scores.
But that's just what I think. I like the possiblity of Beck being the dominuse of Big Duo but I pretty much not for the Beck/Roger brother thing.
Peace.

Well we have thought about Beck haveing a Dorothy of his own before. Just check out ACT's third season writeings where Beck does get his own R. Dorothy, who is a sort of sister to the Dorothy that is with Roger. The main difference is that she is more expressive about her emotions and is a blonde to boot. Other than that, she is a carbon copy of our beloved R. Dorothy Wanewright, tight down to calling her male companion (Beck) a louse at one point.
Start here with
Act 27 and read up to where we meet Dori in Act 30.

Roger and Beck brothers?! Interesting....I don't know if there's much evidence to support it, but there isn't much to disprove it. I like the idea though. Beck is a great character.

If we EVER get word of a Season 3 of Big O down the pipeline...this website will go into complete meltdown. Their server won't be able to handle all the requests and it will be down for a very, VERY long time.

AAAAAAAAAAAAH! APOCALYPSE! *slips paper bag over her head and lies on the ground*

Yeesh, givin' me a scare with the whole Beck/Roger brother thing. It's an interesting thought, though, considering how alike those two can be. But still, we've got a better chance of Beck giving up all his money to charity, I must say.
Hmm ... Big Duo, piloted by Beck? Now THAT is something that's never even crossed my mind. If you think about it, though, as Paradigm City Hustla pointed out, Big Duo doesn't seem very open to the suggestion of a new dominus. Shall I bring up what happened to our poor 'sneaky kitty' in episode 23 (I think ... )? Now you wouldn't wish that upon Beck-boy, wouldja? ... Well, woudja?!
Eh-uhm, anyway ...
As for your last little idea ... wow. Yeah, just wow. Wasn't RD a maniacly crazed android programmed for assasination? Then again ... if Beck could reprogram her ....

Mmm... The Jason/Roger thing is a good idea, something I've been jugling(sp?) around my mind for a while... I think the thing that gave me the idea that there is a connection was:
1. The suits are exactly the same, exsept the colours are different. I belive it's the same with the ties.
2. They both have a thing about combing their hair.
3. Both, apparently, have a er... Thing about R.Dorothy. (Act 25?)

I doubt they are brothers, but beck in insteresting becuse somehow he was able to acquire memories about the inner workings of androids/megadei.
The only other person who seemed to know what they were doing in that dept was wayneright, but ironically beck's goons killed him.

I've actually thought up several fanfic ideas concerning this. I haven't acted on them obviously, but I think the idea is very probable. After all, whether or not they like it, they are a lot alike.

As I said in another thread I always sort of considered Beck the Anti-Roger. I think their similarities were intended to make him into a rival more than a brother. It's kind of common in anime and video games, take Street Fighter for example with the Ken and Ryu thing. Similar characters with completely different personalities.
Beck piloting a Big? Considering he uses giant robots for personal gain...

All he'd have to do is find a Big that shared his sentiments. If Crispy could find one, I'm sure Beck could.
As to Beck, he's many things. He's a comic foil for Roger and a good antithesis of him as well, much as Alex Rosewater. Like Roger, Beck lives outside the law of Paradigm City, but unlike Roger, he doesn't really have a strict moral code of his own. He's a thug where Roger is a gentleman, a buffon where Roger is consumate, a thief where Roger makes an honest living. Still, he's not evil (mostly) and can be capable of some surprisingly heroic acts. He's ultimately in it for himself and no one else. Other people are either tools to be used or obstacles to be overcome, even loyal thugs like Dove & T-Bone (or Yam, from the manga). This contrasts with Roger, who despite his professed self-interest is truly loyal to his friends (few that they are).

Dude, I woulda liked to see Beck kick the sorry ass of Alan Gabrial. That scene in "Twisted Memories" where Alan threatens to KILL Beck, I wanted to f--- Alan off, and then after Beck was done, have R. Dorothy take a wack! DOG PILE ON THE KILLER CYBORG!
Also, Beck piloting Big Duo seems iffy. Beck piloting Big BECK, now that seems plausable... (Okay, gonna say it right out, I'm a fan fiction writer of Big O, I even have a fan art thread in the Nightingale Club.)
Lastly, unless Beck bleached his head blonde or had too much of Paradigm's artifical sun, I doubt he'd be Roger's brother. However, he could be a bit more related to Mr. Wise, the man in Act 9: Beck Comes Back. He just looks so similar to Beck it's uncanny. Perhaps Beck had been born, and Wise would've forgotten him when the event happened. Beck as a child (roughly 4 or 5), would have little affliction to the event, and therefore see Wise making out with another lady, and would then run away to persue a life of crime...
Assuming of course that Wise was Beck's father...
Okay, again, fan fic writer.
If you made it through this post, I congratulate you with a happy hug.

Tootles!

Roger claims to of lost him memories, and I belive Beck to, but how could they? Nether can be over 30!
(I know it's off the point of this board, sorry.)

The memories of the original Roger Smith (Or perhaps not original, but an older tomato) that our Roger Smith is a tomato of. Remember the picture of Roger Smith with a much younger Gordon Rosewater shaking hands? He also mentions the negotiation that he made with Roger back then. In which case Roger couldn't possibly be the age that he is.
Anyway that's the only way I could make sense of it at least. Take the metaphor of the assembly line of android Roger Smith's for example. There has definately been more than one Roger Smith in other lives that the last Roger Smith can't remember.
