So when do the oscar nominations come out again? I want to see if Syriana has any, or if it was eclipsed by the other Clooney project Good night and good luck (which was good, whoever played Murrow looked and sounded exactly like him...though admittedly yes, the abundance of tobacco in that movie did make me want a cigarette very badly.)

I know the Oscar nominations come out on January 31, 2006 and I'll post them here when they do hit stores.
Also, I got the same craving for a cigarette just as badly too. I get the same notion whenever I watch Cowboy Bebop or any Humphrey Bogart film.
Anyway, here's some more news about
The Da Vinci Code movie (sorry, C.T. I know how much you hate the book) and more about the movie,
Chapter 27, the film about the murder of John Lennon (Jared Leto plays the killer), and I found out a while ago that Hayden Christensen is playing a role as Bob Dylan in a upcoming movie.
Peace.

A dark rage awakens deep within me everytime I hear about this. I nearly strangled my friend for going on about it after I told her to stop it about 5 times. Sadly, misogyny is frowned upon, as is homicide.

DESTRUCTION.
If this happens at the Oscars, Hollywood needs to burn.

Damn man, really? Not a Brokeback man huh? Anyway, this also happened at the Golden Globes and their a good preview of what could happen at the Oscars. So, you might want to get ready...

Yeah, Zaphod. She kept going on and on detailing a movie that was about John Lennon's murder and not John Lennon himself and basically, a movie that has Lindsay Lohan in it.
She got what she deserved.
Peace.

Because its an enriching tale directed by a talented, wonderful director who shows the story behind two complex men and their interesting yet complex and difficult lives over a remarkable score and enchanting screenplay?....
Or, were you referring to the "gay-cowboy issue" topic that everyone seems to be going nuts over for at the minute? My bad.
Peace.

I'm betting on the second one, yes. It's not really an 'issue', thought it is apparently a selling point so to speak for Hollywood awards when it shouldn't be.

Obligatory "I WISH I COULD QUIT YOU" joke
I recuse myself from really talking about this film, as it's inexorably tied in my mind with that one episode of south park where the town hosts a film festival, and shows a black and white movie entirely about two gay cowboys eating pudding.
However I'll say this..theres a reason the trailers just say "from academy award winner Ang Lee" and not "From the director of 'The Hulk' "
edit: Also I'll admit, I am pretty much unfamiliar with his work...I just think the trailers for the hulk looked really bad. I'm sure he's a wonderful director.
I mean apparently it's a good movie. It seems like a break from that seemingly unbeatable oscar formula. It has sometimes seemed in the past that A) Playing a retarded character or B) Slapping on as much makeup onto an actress as possible, has acted as sort of a blank check for an award.
I also sort of hope either Syriana and/or good night and good luck wins something...yeah I haven't really seen all that many movies this year come to think of it. It'd be nice if one of the few I DID see got something.

That is a funny joke, Sharpie. I was watching "The Soup" on the E! and they had this parody called "Brokeback Kong" with two gay giant King Kongs holding each other with one saying; "I wish I could quit you."
Also, good point about instead of "from the director of the Hulk" they use "academy award nominated director Ang Lee". I don't think he actually won at the Oscars, he was nominated for Best Director in 2000 for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon but he guy who did Traffic won... or was it Ridley Scott for Gladitor? I can't remember at the moment but the point is; did you actually watch the Hulk because for you my friend, I pray that you didn't.

I'm sure Broke back is a good movie and ang lee is pretty good director, but it seems to be Controversy that is netting the movie so much attention. However I wouldn't mind seeing it.

Controversy usually nets acclaim, or at least some form of recognition, commercial if nothing else.
