"Small news"?

...

Neutral

>_>... Um, also Spider-Man franchise director Sam Raimi has been offered the job for directing the Hobbit adaption.

Yeah, that's right. A SMURFS MOVIE.

Some more news on Angelina Jolie being in the Sin City sequel.

Um, Hayden Christensen is going to be in a biopic about World Poker Champion, Phil Hellmuth. Take that as you may.

In Walk Hard, John C. Reilly spoofs on the latest trend of Oscar-baiting musician biographies.

In film adaption of Hitman might be in the works.
Peace.

This is the Silver Surfer from the new Fantastic Four film next year.

They better not f*** this up, is all I'm saying.

EDIT: Also an article about Silver Boy as well.
Peace.

I'd watch a 24 movie if it was 5 hours long

You know that one Russian spy who was in the headlines for being poisioned a couple of months ago? Johnny Depp's production company (Infinitum Nihil) and Warner Bros. are planning an adapation of a book detailing his death and it looks like a vehicle for Depp to start in.

News on a third film to start up in The Mummy franchise.
Peace.
Generalissimo D 01-14-2007 06:08 PM
So the next Mummy movie is going to be typical summer action movie.

quote:
In addition to a third "Mummy," the studio has also been keen to develop Meet the Little Focker and a remake of the The Wolf Man and last year it purchased Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy 2: The Golden Army out of turnaround from Sony and Revolution.

I could care less for Meet the Little Focker (that series needed to stop at 1) but I'm interested in how they would remake the Wolf Man.

Yes. Yes it did. And even then, that's being quite generous (I never watched any of the movies).

Er, Gwyneth Paltrow is apparently going to be in the Iron Man film coming out 2008.

There's a villain conformed for the Superman sequel. And I read this from a review and I've wanted to use it for a while now but the new Superman sequel is going to need more "Man of Steel" and less "Danielle Steel".
Peace.
Sharpshooter005 01-17-2007 04:50 PM
One of the main reasons (despite not caring) that I didn't see superman returns, is I hear that in terms of writing it was less a movie, and more Bryan Singer's crazed notion of a 2 hour sermon about superman.

...I thought Fantastic Four was pretty much a flop, or did the dvd sales pick up the slack and thats how the sequel was greenlit

Theres also another studio which apparently has the rights to a book about the guy and his death which was co-authored by his wife.

Also is it just me or....does this seem REALLY unusually fast for a movie (two movies no less) based off of a current event. This is only what, a month or two old?

My question is how the hell are they going to top
spoiler (highlight to read):
a damn nuke going off in the suburbs of LA
....then again they'll probably find a way I'm sure.

Well, Newline had rights to a Venom movie...

And I think the movie about Lacy Petersons husband beats it.

T.V. movie. I meant a full on major theatrical release. I'm sure theres precedent I just can't think of it.

I dont like how "had" seems to be the operative word there.

The rights expired, and despite Sam Raimi going "NOVENOMBITCHES" initially he's going to make a brief appearence in 3...

But yeah, Peterson doesn't have anything to do with the Soviet Union and espionage.

Dark Horizons site is reporting a rumor currently unconfirmed that Angelina Jolie is OUT of contention for the Ava role in Sin City 2 and Rachel Weisz is currently in talks to reprise the role.

Whoopie! Finally! There IS Justice in this world! If this is true...and I hope and PRAY to God it happens...because I'm SICK and TIRED of hearing about Angelina Jolie. When I first heard about Robert Rodriquez being interested in getting Angelina Jolie for this role...my heart sank. I was depressed because I knew instantly that getting Angelina Jolie would RUIN this movie sequel.

But now...after ENOUGH delays...we get good news. Rachel Weisz is a far better choice in my opinion than Angelina Jolie and she'll be awesome in this role. Please, pretty please...let this happen! Rachel Weisz is superior to Angelina Jolie. Heck...she's far more attractive (my opinion) than Angelina Jolie...plus she's not overhyped. Getting Rachel Weisz puts Sin City 2 back on my radar screen for movies to watch.

The thing is, the producer (Ari Arad) was so sure that the first film would be so damn good, that he greenlit the production of a sequel just before the first film was released. So yeah, he got a rude awakening.

Good God, I hope this is nothing but a rumor because for some reason (aside from my schoolboy crush on Weisz), I dislike the idea of her being in the SC sequel so much.
Peace.
DorothyFan1 01-18-2007 02:16 PM
I'm surprised you'd say that. Rachel Weisz would be an excellent choice for the Ava role. I've read the comic book and I KNOW...she's perfect. She looks the part too...unlike Angelina Jolie. So I think you should give her a chance here.

Besides...what's your gripe with Sin City? It was one of the best films in a long time. I won't be surprised when this film gets the nod for inclusion for the National Board of Review of films to preserve for posterity. Sin City earned it.

P.S. I'm updating this in here because I don't know if the servers can or will allow multiple posts from the same username consecutively.

Word is...currently unconfirmed...is that Kate Bosworth of Superman Returns fame may NOT be asked to reprise her role as Lois Lane. Rumors are getting out that she may be recasted. If this is the case...the first name that better be on Bryan Singer's list is

Rachel McAdams
Anne Hathaway
Selma Blair
Ashley Judd
Rose Byrne

I suppose its the same as your gripe with Kate Bosworth. I'm playin' but I don't really have anything against Sin City (its on my 100 all-time film list, its #99 but the point is its on there nonetheless) but I do have my gripes about it. The plot and the characters, though interesting, are rather stunted and the same. Brutal angry guy saves blonde hooker with a heart of gold against the corrupt city and its citizens. Some of the stories don't exactly have that look at first hand but essentially, all of them boil down to this. And as for Weisz goes, its the role I'm worried about not herself acting in the role. I guess I don't see the appeal of seeing an actor of Weisz's ability being a graphic novel film adapation like this.

Also, some instances are just too cartoony for my taste (i.e. Marv getting hit by the car, the shot of the hookers in the alley against the cops). On the other hand, the film does have damn good photography and visual effects and some of the actors give some good performances as well (Rourke, Owen, Alba for example). But Sin City is alright, not the best picture in a damn long time in my book (Million Dollar Baby comes to mind for that, but that's just me).

I would be very much. True it is the one of the best and honest graphic novel/comic book adapations done in the age of making such films. But the film is far from being actually culturally significant in the terms of masterpieces in American film (examples being The Maltese Falcon, The Bridge on the River Kwai, Vertigo, etc.).

Anyway on some other news, I read in Entertainment Weekly that M. Night Shamalyan has been signed to film a trilogy of an adapation of Nick's Avatar the Airbender.

Clive Owen is going to play detective Philip Marlowe an adaptation of one of Raymond Chandler's short stories.

Some news on the Spider-Man 4 screenwriter and script.
Peace.

This I also doubt...however I could see it happening. It was one of the first movies to basically be shot entirely with digitized backgrounds, only other one I can really think of is sky capitan and...that 300 one looks like its doing this too. If at any point in time this became widely prevalent (which honestly I would hate, it worked with this since it was just supposed to be so wildly over the top and...well..yeah, like a comic book), I could maybe see it getting some kind of nod for 'pioneering' that technology or whatever.

Still it's....beyond a longshot.

I see what you are getting at Sharpie but I still don't see films like Sin City getting the nod to be preserved for being culturally significant in film (because that's what it needs to get in really). Also, Sky Captain did do the same thing, but in return the film sucked. The photography is great but in hindsight, that's mostly the whole thing going for it. In that regards, why not throw The Matrix in just for the Bullettime photography despite the fact that its The Matrix overall?

Its not going to happen but I see what you're getting at nonetheless though.
Peace.

Yeah, that's right.

The Underdog Movie. They got photos of the movie in the link. Click at your own risk.

Also, there might be a new Poltergeist movie in the works. Nothing is definite yet, but some producers are looking to get the idea greenlit though.
