Some more Iron Man news, as director Jon Favreau talks about the plot, the Tony Stark character, and who might play Iron Man.

EDIT: Oh and Uma Thurman is a superhero in love.
Peace.

Apparently Southland Tales (the new movie by the guy who directed Donnie Darko) is being absolutely HAMMERED over at cannes. The trades and the critics who actually saw it seem to have very, very little good to say.

Heres Ebert's take on it (and theres a couple excoriating it far worse than this):

"The greatest disappointment so far this year is an easy choice: “Southland Tales,” the much-anticipated new film by Richard Kelly, whose “Donnie Darko” inspired much enthusiasm. This one is a “fiasco,” writes Variety’s Todd McCarthy, and he is not being unkind, only truthful.

Running an unendurable 161 minutes, it’s an apocalyptic mess set in Los Angeles of the fear future, where “neomarxists” and other neos, all of whom seem like retro retreads from the 1960s, stage an incomprehensible revolution. There’s an all-star cast, headed by The Rock, Sarah Michelle Geller, Mandy Moore, Wallace Shawn, Justin Timberlake, and Janeane Garofolo, who plays a uniformed general who stands inside a bookstore on Venice Beach and has inexplicable telephone conversations for obscure purposes with unestablished characters she never seems to meet."

From what I've heard, the directors cut of donnie darko (which I haven't seen, just the theatrical cut) was worse than the edited theatrical release. So maybe its a similar case here, and he just needs somebody weeding the hell out of his work.

It would seem they are making another Garfield movie.

Damn it all.

I could have sworn that I announced this awhile back. But the most surprising thing here is that Garfield has his own website.

Still, Eddie Murphy Productions (now pretty much just a rat, bit of cheese and series of empty electricity sockets)

And I wouldn't expect anything less. So wait, we have Rocky 6, Indiana Jones 4, Jurassic Park 4, and now Beverly Hills Cop 4? When does the horror end?

Here's some more news on Mel Gibson's Apocalypto... and Chris Tucker in Bollywood.

EDIT: That sequel's list I made up there. Yeah, you add Die Hard 4 to that list as well.
Peace.

Not much movie news here really; but its entertainment nonetheless.

The author of The Graduate, Charles Webb, is coming out with a sequel called 'Home School' that takes the story 10 years later with Benjamin and Elaine with two children.

Back in 1956, DC Comics came out with a Batwoman. But then they killed her off in 1979. And now, there bringing her for her comeback as a lesbian.

Jessica Alba talks about the Fantastic Four sequel (ZOMG! Silver Surfer's in it!!1!!)

EDIT: And here's the synopsis of Saw III.
Peace.

Silver Surfer + Villian = Galactacus = win.

Fixed, just a small spelling error.

Anyway, you know who the Oscars have the Honorary Award? Yeah, the MTV Movie Awards has their own version called the Generation Award and this year, they're giving it to Jim Carrey. Although last year, they gave it to Tom Cruise, so the already laughable notion loses the small crediblity that if could of had.

Anyway, Spider-Man producer Ari Arad tells a little somethin'-somethin' about Spider-Man 3's villains.

EDIT: And some news on the Magento prequel.
Peace.
Mike 06-01-2006 09:38 PM
I heard somewhere that the villains in 3 were going to be Lizard and Green Goblin, Jr. I have a bad feeling about this, though, too may villains tends to make a movie weak.
Hobodoken 06-01-2006 10:12 PM
I had thought Eric Foreman had been signed on to play Sandman? Wasn't that confirmed for the third one ages ago?

Also, if they ressurect Batwoman, as a lesbian, that will result in much hitting on Batgirl, which will be humorous.
Generalissimo D 06-01-2006 10:39 PM
...Venom.

That one beefy guy is Sandman. Complete with that green sweater.

Sequel...I thought fantastic four pretty much flopped at the box office?

Didn't they never really say if venoms even in this one, or the director hated that character, and apparently whatshisname is just playing eddie brock (who..yeah, turns into venom eventually, granted.)?

I can't even keep track of this movie anymore, each week I seem to keep hearing some new confirmation or denial about plot elements. Apparently I'm the only person who can just wait until somethings out before knowing the entire plot.

Well, true and as the movie did suck had, executive producer Ari Arad was sooo confident that FF would pwn at the box office (I guess he had a rude awakening), that before the movie even hit theaters last year, there were plans to start on a sequel by then already.

Eric Foreman, real name Topher Grace, is in the movie but he's not Sandman. He's Eddie Brock... which eventually leads to being Venom.

Here's how the villains look (right now) for Spider-Man 3:

- Eddie Brock/Venom = Topher Grace (That 70's Show)
- The Sandman = Thomas Haden Church (Sideways)
- Green Goblin = James Franco (Spider-Man)

I don't know who the fourth villain is but also Gwen Stacy and her father, the chief of police is in the movie as well. Basically, that sets up a love triangle with Stacy, Mary-Jane, and Peter.

Um, true. But the one example I can think of where that scenario actually worked was Batman Returns. That was a good movie.

EDIT:
quote:
Also one of the villains was played by christopher walken so...automatically it was going to work.

Exactly.

Movie news: There's a remake being done on a 1987 Norwegian film titled Ofelas about Vikings.

Also, there's more info on the X-Men spinoffs, involving a Wolverine movie, a movie about the mutant kids who live in the manison, and one (for some reason) on Emma Frost (The White Queen). But the mutant description for her is bad and I think off if I'm not mistaken.
Peace.

There were only two (well...two and a half sort of) though, and you didn't have all the other stuff going on either.

In movie news today, there were some casting announcements made involving Vince Vaughn, Devon Aoki, Sin City 2, and Evan Almighty.

Virginia Madsen denies it but there's a rumor going around that she might be in the upcoming fourth Indiana Jones movie... as his wife.

And Nicholas Cage talks about the Ghost Rider film.

EDIT: There's news about the Speed Racer adaptation. Supposedly, there's two directors on board that are to write and direct the film.

Clue: They recently botched V for Vendetta and did that crap of the Matrix trilogy. Any takers?

EDIT: Ziyi Zhang is going to be starring in a live action film of Mulan... A Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel will be out around October... and news on the Hellboy sequel.
Peace.

Spoiler: Racer X turns out to be some kind of construct that wants to oppress mankind, the only way he can be stopped is by people wearing alot of leather and attempting to make the obvious sound deep!

(Wait racer x was the one in the mask right? I...don't...really think I've ever seen speed racer)

edit: I thought the texas chainsaw massacre prequel already had come out?

I never saw Hellboy, didn't really interest me that much. But it doesn't look as bad as compared to the majority of the comic book adaptions (Hulk, Daredevil, Punisher, etc., etc.)

Dude, you never seen Speed Racer? Yeah, Racer X is Speed's brother that was supposedly killed in a racing accident but faked his death and for some reason, mysteriously hides in the shadows helping his brother out time from time.

Also, the dub was not so good as well. Mostly, because everyone talked so damn fast like an old '40's movie, but that made it funny.

If you're talking about the piece of holy crap that dropped in 2003 with Jessica Biel, then no, that was the remake of the film. The news in the link said that in this prequel, Leatherface's identity and history will be revealed and all that.

Anyway on the news front, aside from doing an adaption to Battle Angel Altia, and maybe, MAYBE (I use the word loosely) Neon Genesis Evangelion (although, there are a number of directors loosely rumored to be on board for the film. He here is just one of them), James Cameron has another project, Project 880 (AVATAR), coming out next year.
Peace.

It's actually pretty cool, and the characters end up more developed that the typical fare.

Plus, giant Lovecraftian squid thingy at the end = win.

I forgot to mention last time that I read that there might be conformation in a second X-Files movie being made.

Also here are some new photos of from the set of Spider-Man 3.

And some more photos from the set in this link.
Peace.
