Wait... I thought the Iron Man news you posted was the BEST NEWS EVER. I'm playin' but nice find, CT.

Also...

It's Miami Vice! Starring Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell.

Also, George Lucas talks about Indiana Jones 4... with MTV. You've been warned.
Peace.

... you'll get it, just keep thinking about it.

XD

Edit:

I had to reread this several times, but it finally sunk in.

Kojima did not mention the name of the party, a release date, or any potential directors or stars. However, ever since the original PlayStation Metal Gear Soild, the English-language dialogue of game hero Solid Snake has been voiced by Hollywood figure David Hayter. Though a prolific voice actor, Hayter has enjoyed greater success as a screenwriter, with credits for X-Men, X2, and the forthcoming Watchmen under his belt.

This seems to be getting better and better.
Travis Bickle 05-11-2006 08:48 PM
Hayter wrote the best script for Watchmen that I've ever read. It's the most true-to-source script ever (next to Sin City).

I'd say this is a bad idea, except:

1) Michael Mann produced the original show (also directed a number of the episodes I think, so it's pretty much his show through and through) edit: And he also was the creator of it, which I'd forgotten momentarily.

2) It's pretty much a given the gunfights in this are going to be completely amazing, unless mann was drinking some special tonic when he made heat and collateral and ran out of it during filming for this movie.

Basically they just need to avoid trying to make this a "remake". Alot of people are going "lol but itz not teh eighties!"..basically as long as this movie goes overboard on sleezy, coke-baron decadence it'll be in keeping with the theme of the show...which was flashy, narc squad detectives driving a goddamn ferrari, over the top decadence. It just so happened to be made in the '80s, so it was incredibly neon since that was the style.

Also hasn't this "forthcoming" watchmen movie been "forthcoming" for an oddly long time now? I keep hearing "it's being made" then "no its not" then 'maybe it is", then back to "it definately is".
Nine Kuze 05-12-2006 08:19 PM
Does anybody remember Bruce Lee's film, The Game of Death, where at the end he fought and defeated Kareem Abdur-Jabbar at the last level?

Yeah... Brett Ratner wants to remake that scene with Houston Rockets center Yao Ming and Chris Tucker in Rush Hour 3.

Also, Hugh Jackman on the Wolverine prequel. How many people know Wolverine's real name?
Peace.
David Ryder 05-12-2006 08:37 PM
Yao Ming: "Can you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?"
Chris Tucker: "Man Yao you crazy Japanese mofo! No nobody know what da hell you sayin'." *does sterotypical martial arts stances.*
Driector: "He's not japanese."

And do they really need another Rush Hour? The first two sucked. Also it's good to hear that David Hayter is still going strong, although I do miss him is anime.

And that would be in the delated scenes of the special features of the DVD.

Also, that's cool about the Watchmen but seeing how Alan Moore and Hollywood aren't seeing eye to eye, its not really surprising about the development of the Watchmen adapted film.
Peace.

Origin is the best Marvel graphic novel ever. And there's a second one coming.

i never watched the original MV, and i hate collin farrel.

however, collateral and heat were incredible movies (especially collateral) and i really respect michael mann as a director so i'm actually looking forward to this.

Yeah, I read that too a while back and it was very kickass. And there's a second coming as well? Now, that's good news.

Also, from these reviews, can The Fast and Furious 3 actually be... good?!
Peace.
David Ryder 05-13-2006 01:47 PM
I wondering if the reviews of the FF 3 are actually because it is a somewhat decent movie or it's good in a "Hurray anything asian makes stuff good" way. Hmmm

According to an article from Variety, director of the upcoming Superman Returns movie, Bryan Singer, was up to do a remake of Logan's Run as well as the sequel to Superman.

EDIT: And some more news about the Fantastic Four sequel, up for 2007.
Peace.

But we can have the original Yub Yub ending of ROTJ. And it's worth having it just to get rid of the annoying Jabba's Palace musical number.

Edit: oh, ok. I just close my eyes at that part.

Here's some more news on the Original Star Wars Trilogy DVD:
quote:
StarWars.com has revealed the cover art for the unaltered original "Star Wars" trilogy which will be available individually on September 12th.

Each movie comes as a two-disc set -- one disc is the 2004 remastered version of the film, while the second disc is a version that captures its original theatrical presentation. Done in the photo-montage style of previous DVD release, each movie mimics a poster design from the original theatrical campaign.

And here are the covers:

Peace.

Interesting choice of Leia for the third cover.

It's surprising how Carrie Fisher can be funny on TV though.

Yeah this was mainly a response to the "LOL HOW CAN IT BE MIAMI VICE IF IT IS NOT IN TEH '80S" crowd I'm seeing on the internet.

I get we're in a period of retro fixation, but the fact is Miami Vice was about showy opulance. It just so happened that it was made in the '80s, hence the showy opulance was all retro '80s stuff.

One thing I like about Mann is that with everybody switching over to digital video for movies, he's one of the few directors I can think of at this moment whos really taken full advantage of that. Collateral was mainly very dark because apparently digital video really captures that sort of low-light scenery well, then during the more lit up scenes (the nightclub one for instance) normal film was used.

As though they would choose otherwise.

I find their selection for Vader on the second to be more unusual. He seems somewhat more "muahahaha" than I recall his character being.
Mike 05-22-2006 05:45 PM
I actually think the old movies could use MORE changes:

-make all the lightsabers look like the prequel ones
-Redo Jabba in ANH. Because now he looks like crap.
-Add a few aliens to the Rebel army in ESB. Not a whole lot, just a couple background guys. And show more of the Rebel defense soldier dudes.
-Make the Rebel fleet at the end a little bit bigger. With a couple more ships. but only by a little.
-redo Cloud City again, because some of the reflections on the shiny floor look really....weird.
-CGI space slug so it does not look like a sock puppet. same with Mynocks.
-Add some aliens to Cloud City too. Not a whole ton but just a couple walking around in the background.
-in ROTJ, CGI the whole space battle. The one in ROTS was amazing, Endor looks like crap now. Add new ships to the Rebel fleet, maybe even a couple of the Separatist ones from ROTS, since they were supposedly built by rogue Mon Calamarians.
-For the love of God, show Star Destroyers using those ridiculously huge guns on the sides, taking chunks out of other ships. And the Rebel cruisers doing the same. That would rule.
Randolph 05-23-2006 02:31 AM
I think the reason they haven't done all that is because people buying the old films want to see them as they originally appeared, sans "improvements".

And sock puppet monsters are awesome.

I have to say that when I was a young'n, sock puppets scared the living daylights out of me. And my little brother used that to his advantage to terrorize me until I sucked it, manned up, and grew out of my fear. Also, the shape of ginger. Don't ask why but the look of it was unnatural to me.

As far as Star Wars goes, yeah, sock puppets are indeed awesome.

Anyway, Ang Lee's new project (no cowboys included) is called 'Lust, Caution'... and more info on the Ghost Rider film which is slated to drop next February and there's a trailer that's out now... And also there's a Bob Dylan biopic that getting its cast ready. The thing is that there's going to be six different actors to play Dylan through out the movie. Pretty interesting, as one of the six is Cate Blanchett (my girl!)

Nick Cage needs to put some emotion into his damn acting.

I hear that man. I don't like his work and he shouldn't have gotten the Best Actor award for Leaving Las Vegas. It was like a high defintion porno... without the porno. Sean Penn for Dead Man Walking should have scored that one in 1995.
Peace.
