Why the eyepatch?!

Twisted Memoir 09-05-2005 09:49 PM
Ok, we have all realized after seeing Underground Terror that Norman does have both eyes. So why on earth does he wear that friggin' thing?? Both sane and totally off the wall answers are accepted.

Roger: (running away from the architype with Dorothy) Norman, how much longer?

Norman: (Lifts up his eyepatch and looks in the oven at a roast) It won't be much longer now, sir.

You know Mad-Eye Moody from Harry Potter (primarily seen in Book Four: Goblet of Fire)? Norman has that same crazy magical eye that he hides from the rest of the world. It's also what makes Norman so awesome.

Where are you getting this? He's holding a phone to his ear, not lifting up his eyepatch.

Now that we've resolved that, it's clear to me that Norman was born with it. The patch IS his eye.

Pssh. Magic. Hippie.( Tongue Just kidding man, you know I respect ya wholly.)

Clearly he uses it to hide his eye which can shoot lasers, or the eyepatch itself is a targeting reticle. Or his eye is blinded, and he just wears it to signify "Blind Man, Has Minigun."

You do not question Norman Burg!

It's so obvious that it's a wormhole into the memory banks Big Ear uses. How else can the guy find dozens of missiles to reload into Big O's weapons systems? Big Grin
X Prime 09-05-2005 10:37 PM
I must concur with D-Boy. Clearly Mr. Burg is a mutant descendant of Cyclops, and if he were to ever lift that eyepatch he would unleash a devastating Optic Blast that does damage roughly equivalent to the Final Stage.

or just a place to store tic-tacs.

Because he's a cat. And no cat out of its first fur ever gave a straight answer to anybody. Wink
R.Smith 09-05-2005 11:15 PM
Well, in the manga, he does remove it in one story. Shocked

We never see what is under it, however. Frown

"Why the eyepatch?"

Because it looks cool. And it just be silly, and mildly disgusting, if he did not wear one.

Black void... Ew...
Nine Kuze 09-06-2005 11:53 AM
Yeah, man.
There are just some things you don't mess around with because there so damn cool and one of those things in Big O was Norman's eyepatch.
I mean, forget the amensia or the Big Venus mystery. My thing was, why does that dude have an eyepatch? What's his angle? Is there even an eye under there? Is it part of his memories?
On and on and on...
Zopwx2 09-06-2005 01:58 PM
Yeah the concept art for norman has him without the eyepatch. So they probably thought he looked cooler with it on.

Otherwise I guess we can assume he lost an eye during the event.
Twisted Memoir 09-06-2005 08:25 PM
Hey I have no prob with Norman having it; it does really make him who he is. But I know for a fact in one episode he did lift it up, revealing his wholly intact other eye. I guess he just realized how cool he looks with an eyepatch Wink

N. Burg's a kick-ass butler!!
Mugiwara Luffy 09-06-2005 09:38 PM
Hate to be a doubting Thomas, but could you tell us which episode and/or provide a screencap?
TanookiJoe 09-06-2005 09:59 PM
Maybe he has a long festering, lopsided case of pink eye.

Or maybe he has a glass eye, but it's kinda crappy and makes him look all googly-eyed.

Eh?
Mr. Fortnight 09-06-2005 10:39 PM
Simple, it's to help his aim.
Darkside 09-06-2005 10:52 PM
"Why the eyepatch?"

Why not?
Pygmalion 09-06-2005 11:51 PM
The real question is, where's the parrot?

Twisted Memoir 09-11-2005 08:45 PM
Woo hoo I've now seen all the episodes of Big O!! Sadly though I can say that Norman never did lift up his eyepatch. Guess it was just someone else's memory inside my head... Shocked
