The Big O Music!

Mattartist 08-21-2005 09:26 AM
Hello, I'm new, but I gotta ask: Does anyone know where I can listen to the Big O Soundtracks WITHOUT burning my wallet and smashing it into a pulp (the stuff is REALLY expensive)? Sorry for ranting. Big Grin

There used to be a place that used to let you listen to it, but I can't find it anymore.

I guess the only way is to watch the show and then come here and ask us,

"Whats the name of the song that goes dun, da da dunded etc..."

And oh boy will we tell you.

CD Japan has both soundtracks for a little over $25 each:

It's a little expensive for a CD, but not that bad for an import.

Don't forget Walking Together Down the Yellow Brick Road, the radio play, and the Respect single. It's only a little bit more to get all of them, and it's still cheaper than Amazon. Smile

Oh, okay. Well (rubs chin). I know! You guys know that love song at the end of each Big O episode? I think its called "And Forever". Anyway, I heard that there was a full orcastration of it, and I was wondering if anybody had the full version of it? Pleased (I love using smilies.)

And Forever - Grand Central, from Original Sound Score II is an orchestrated version, and the full nonedited version of And Forever is on the Intro Theme Song RESPECT CD.

I'm sorry to say it, but you almost certainly got a pirate version. Now you may ask, "If it's got the same music, why not get the cheaper version?" but here are some reasons to pay the extra for the legit version:

1. Sunrise/Bandai get a royalty on the legit version, none on the pirate. And while Big O is not the million-seller that Cowboy Bebop is, a show that is making money for Bandai has better odds of getting more episodes than one that isn't.

2. The quality is lower on the pirated version. And if the offical version comes with extras, you can bet there won't be any on the pirated one.

I was actually able to locate both OSTs on BitTorrent some time ago. Can't remember what site I found them on, but they're out there. Now if someone would just make a torrent of the drama CD I would be in heaven.

You can find the tracks "Stand a Chance" (best song EVER) and "The Stoning" at www.rainart.us/sound/music.html, and it's always available to listen to, but the downloads don't always work. Those are the only tracks I've been able to find.

You should follow Krang's advice on the place to get them.CD Japan is a very good place to get real versions of the soundtracks. I get all of my imported stuff there. Plus it usually arrives quicker from Japan then it would from anywhere in the US, and also it is cheaper.

I bought The Big O Collection (Seasons 1 & 2) for 21 dollars. 27 if you count shipping and handling.

At that price, you can't afford NOT to have it.

I too thought that 3-disk set was a bargain, until I found out it was pirated. The authentic English version is in two box sets of 4 disks each.

Since it's been a while since I've posted a link to Anime Digital's Pirate Anime FAQ, here it is. Hope it helps with future purchases!

I just bought the 3dvd big O collection, assuming it was a 'budget' version of the 4dvd set. I bought it on ebay and assumed it was legit, so I am not pirating anything even if the disk set was pirated.

I was disappointed to hear it might be pirated and wondered how it could be so openly and blatantly sold on line if it were, but I have yet to see proof it was really pirated and not just a lower cost version of the 4dvd set, since a lot of movies and collections have several versions.
Krang 01-29-2006 03:55 AM
Sorry, but Bandai has never released a 3-DVD set of Big O (in fact, they have never released seasons 1 and 2 together), so you have inadvertently bought a bootleg copy. The Pirate Anime FAQ posted above has the answers to most of your questions.
