Repairmen of Big O

Probably has been asked before (what hasn't?), but..
In Act 24, The Big Fight, Norman ushers in a group of commoners who help repair Big O. Why were they helping, and does Norman usually "hire" people to assist in repair? I'd guess that they were against Rosewater's mad New Order (was he doing that by that point in the series or did that start with The War of Paradigm City?), but not entirely sure. Thoughts/corrections?

They were helping against the New Order, I suppose.
I really should go back and watch the series. Syous has my damn dvds, though

It's entirely possible they were always there helping Norman work on Big O. They seemed to know what they were doing, at the very least. It's likely that if they were, they were the Big O's maintainence crew 40+ years ago and Norman was their foreman then.
Ultimately, though, we don't know. We'd never seen them before, until that point it was always Norman alone (with Dorothy on occasion) repairing Big O no matter how damaged he was. They could've been around when there were no scenes in the hanger, of course. They appeared to know each other and seemed skilled at Megadeus repair, as well as all being about Norman's age. Also, they seemed to be blue-collar types rather than Dome Dwellers, so I doubt they had much love for Rosewater in any event.

I think this is the most plausible explanation. A system as big and complex as Big O will need metalworking shops to build replacement parts, missiles, improved weaponry (such as the Big O Thunder); not to mention replacement munitions. While it might be possible for Norman and Dorothy to rearm Big O on their own, I wouldn't be surprised if this crew had been out to Smith Mansion on other occasions when extensive repairs were needed.

If you watch the scene where Norman's repair crew is gathered together, it's done almost without words. They know each other, they know what's expected of them, and they know how to do it. Most of them seem perfectly calm, but are smiling as they enter Big O's hangar.
So I think they've done all this before, many times.

They were probably helping Norman the whole time. They seemed to know what they were doing. I don't think one person would be able to repair Big-O all by himself.

Though these explanations make sense, I'll still put out the very original one I came up with.
People every so often gain their memory back.
The events of the time were trigering peoples memories..Norman remembered he had friends in the masses, and went to them. They all realized what they had to do, and simply go to work.
All other theories here are more plausible, though.

the more i thikn about it, the more that seems likely
although they did say somethign like roger has helped them out many tiems before
but they didnt seem amazed by it or anything, or surprised it was there, they were liek "alright, we get to work on the megadeus again!"

Defently a good topic! I always thought that either these workers had fragments of memorys and they as well like Norman have been keeping up with the maintance of it. Or they just got the hunch that it was the right idea to do. Or even maybe as a payback favor for Roger defently something that needs to be explained! ^_^""
