This was a great epsiode. The mistreatment of women makes me angry.

Indeed, I was really hoping that Jin would kill that woman's husband. He did get what was coming to him, as I am really happy she left him. I really enjoyed tonight's episode, Mugen's beetle training added quite a lot of comedy to the pretty serious tone of Jin's relationship. It was especially great to see Fuu at Mugen's battle, and their conversation afterwards about her relationship with Jin was great. I was worried Jin was going to leave for a while, and I was really releaved to see that he stayed on the other side of the river. Over all, it was a good episode, and I enjoyed it a great deal.

I loved this episode! Smile

Watching Jin try to cook up the squid was funny.

I was also very touching to see that Jin would do anything for her. Pleased

Mugen thinking Jin might have been gay was great. Laughing

Fuu's Jin pose, was funny as well.

I wonder if Jin will really get to see her again. Oh Well

I got a laugh at the part where Mugan told Fuu she had the figure of a wet plant. It was also nice to see Jin get a bit of focus into his personality.

Actually he said "wood plank" referring to her, uh.... flatness. Wink

Man, I really had to stop my self from watching past episode 17, since I don't want to get too far ahead of the AS viewers. Tongue

wow, was it ever a Jin episode!!

and yeah, Mugen wondering "what team he plays for" was priceless!

and i wonder is maybe Fuu does have a little bit of a crush on Jin.

I just started to get into Samurai Champloo for weeks now and I really love it. That episode of Jin reminded me of a Samurai X OVA to me and it had comedy it to soften the hard hitting parts of the story. Beetle sumo wrestling .. .. .. .. . Genious!!!!

I am now seriously in love with Jin.
I also thought that this was the funniest one yet. The one liners kept coming. I'd love to steal one of the quotes sometime...but I can't pick which one.

Her line about how bad his cooking was had me really liking her.

Him just standing in the rain with her umbrella, staring. **sigh**

I couldn't understand why he allowed himself to get beat up. I was yelling," Run! Get up!. Do something !" I still don't get it.

I really enjoyed this episode! I think Fuu's little crush on Jin was really cute and unexpected ( I always thought she had a thing for Mugen). Jin is so adorable when he's in love...that's the kind of man I want! I thought the onagi scene was the cutest ever! Big Grin

GET EM RODRIGUEZ! i swear thats what mugen said. him training that bug was funny. very good eppisode. naked jin had me goin "SWEET!"
Schoolie 07-24-2005 09:55 PM
If I ever get a beetle and fight him in a sumo tournament, I'm definitely naming him "Rodriguez."

Nice balance of humor and seriousness, like others said above. With Jin's quiet demeanor, the serious story had a much somber tone to it.

At the same time, Mugen's more than meets the eye. He snores and lies about, but he does pay attention.

That episode was awesome! I had never seen Jin fight that way, all close-quarters fisti-cuffs style. I'm sad he didn't do more to that ladie's abusive husband.

This was a great ep. Made me really like Jin even more.

I liked the quote the woman said about eels...

quote:
An eel is like a good woman. If you try to hang onto them by force, they'll only run away.

Something she obviously knew from experience. It was just a sweet sad love story between them. I'd like to think he saw her again.

But Mugen and his Beetle Sumo Wrestling? ROTFL!

And it was interesting to see Mugen's thoughts about Jin and women. I hadn't expected Fuu's reaction at all. Although I would pick Jin too if I was her.

I'm really feeling this show more than ever. I like the unpredictible natures of the character's relationships and interactions with one another. I was very amused at Mugen's "speculations". Wink

That was an awesome episode. Way good story, and the focus on jin was awesome. But the best by far was the fighting. Especially the part where he didnt have his swords but still kicked everyones asses

Yeah, me too. (Sigh!)

He always struck me as the gentleman samurai, and this episode proved it.

Although deep in my heart I wanted to see them get together, I think he knew that his reputation as a ronin who killed his sensei could only bring her more unwarranted pain and anguish.

He did for her what no other man had done...he loved her enough to set her free.

I like how Jin can utterly a completely fail at something (cooking), yet still seem dignified. It's pretty rare to see an anime person, or a real person for that matter, be able to pull something like that off.

*I'm bringin' it back*

Throughout all the episodes of the Samurai Champloo series, this is the only one I've never seen and I got a chance to when I was up in Minnesota.

A very good episode centering on Jin and a woman he came love. The husband was an ass and I was hoping that Jin would kill him or at least, you know, put him away within an inch of his life.

quote:
GET EM RODRIGUEZ! i swear thats what mugen said

I don't know what's sweeter; the fact that Mugen named his beetle Rodriguez or that he even knows that name in the first place. But Mugen's beetle sequcens were damn funny and it was cute seeing Fuu get a little jealous of Jin's crush on the other woman (I always knew that between the two of them, Jin was her man. I can of see Mugen as her big brother in a way).

That was interesting and the fact that the woman said that its the worst thing she's ever eaten and meant it as a complient was pretty impressive as well. You know throughout the series, the trio meet a lot of people that they or those said people promised that they would meet later again and I hope Jin meets this woman again later down in life.
Peace.
