X had gone into another trance, again missing something that had happened. When he came out of it, there was quite the commotion.
I sence the presence of drawn weapons. he thought.
X put his glasses on the table and whirled around. He looked around the room with eyes that couldn't have been normal human eyes. These eyes were blood red, those of a demon who had seen too much tragedy for any normal human; but X was anything but. He had suppressed himself for too long. Anyone that had been used to his red eyes, his ruby red eyes, would have been afraid. The look was one of pain, sorrow, and lonliness.
X reached into his coat and pulled out a custom pistol, pointing it into the air and firing a shot. The gun let out a noise unlike any other. It was loud and yet still soft.
X's voice had changed as well, "If someone wants to fight, they can fight me. I'm more than willing." His voice wasn't human either. It was of the same nature as his eyes.

Jane looked up at X with amusement in her eyes. She was tempted, very tempted. Since she was two she had held a gun in her hands and knew exactly how to work one…perfectly. She almost stood up but winced as her wound, which had been concealing itself, now brought forth its horrid head and started to throb again.
“I hate you, Ed. I hate you so much that I might kill you…and then kill you again.” She said sourly, though there was a hint of sarcasm. She stood up and walked towards the restroom where she looked around to make sure no one was inside. When it seemed to be clear, she reached into her jacket pocket and took out a few rubbing alcohol pads. Taking her jacket off completely, she noticed that the cloth that Ed had given her was soaked with blood. Taking it off as well, she rubbed the alcohol pads on her wound, grimacing every time the liquid seeped into her wound. She threw the pieces away once the bleeding had halted and when they had run out of juice. She then reached again into her jacket and took out bandages which she wrapped around it.
“All better. Thank God I carry medical supplies in that bag of mine.” She mumbled as she placed her jacket back on. She picked up the rag, deciding that Ed most likely wouldn’t want it back and threw it away.
Walking back out, she realized that she was exhausted. She moved towards Ed in a sleepy haze then laid her head on the bar when she sat down.
“I’m so tired.” She yawned.

At first, Gallium turned around, ready to draw his revolver and drop X before he could react. Instead, he just settled back down. Ed grinned broadly with the cheeziest expression he could at Jane's first statement.
"I get that."
The moment she was out of sight he took out a small bottle and proceeded to take in a red tablet. He downed it with a drink of water from a flask he carried. He felt a sicky feeling for a moment, and shivered before regaining his senses. Damn meds, he thought.
When Jane came back and said he was tired, he offered sympathetic eyes.
"Me too."

X pulled out another gun, just like the first. "I know how bloodthirsty some of you are," he said in the demonic voice, "I can smell it and see it. I would advise that you all calm down immediately."
X walked over to a random drunk and put one of the pistols on his hand that was resting on the table, then pulled the trigger. The drunk at first didn't feel it, but looked at his hand and started screaming and going into shock. X then moved in a blur up to Gallium and pointed the gun at his head, "Don't try me. I have been passive for far too long. You people have brought out the worst in me. Damn you all. Damn you all to hell. And tell the guy down there that you were sent by the Mercenary of Hell."
X had moved back to the bar, again in a blur, back to the bottle of vodka.

Jane stood up, wearily, and looked at X, her eyes sympathetic and warm. She took a few steps closer to him and finally sat down next to him. Continuing to look at him she whispered, “People don’t bring out the worst in people- only you can do that to yourself.” She paused for a moment to allow her words to stick, “Care to debate the topic? You have to have your reason for saying what you did, don’t you. I believe I do still have some juice left in me for a little discussion.”
“By the way, you should calm down- maybe lay off the vodka- because soon you’re going to do exactly what you feared we would…then where would that lead you? You’d have to kill yourself.” She said, laughing when she finished, “That last part was a joke, just so you know.”

X smiled at the joke. "Yeah, I do have my reasons. Let us just say that I am not fully human. As for the vodka....it doesn't affect me."
X had put his guns back in his coat. He was still trying to avoid confrontation of a violent manner. He was trying to lose that part of himself. He knew that he was screwed, or would be soon enough. He already put a bullet in that drunk's hand. That drunk finally passed out from blood loss.
"So Jane," X said, "if you would like, I can tell you what happened to me."
X knew she would want to hear it. He shuddered. He did so for two reasons: 1: The thoughts of his past. 2: To return himself back to normal. His eyes returned to their ruby color instead of their blood red color.
"You see, I am a strange case. I still have memories. And they are not very pleasant. I was genetically altered in a laboratory funded by a military force. They used me because I was already the perfect specimen: a demon-possessed mercenary with a flawless record. They didn't think they could go wrong...but they couldn't control me. They...froze me...for further experimentation..."

((Sorry for the long time gone...hope this is okay...))
She looked into his fiery eyes feeling a pang of sympathy for him inside her chest. If she had been able to cry, she would have but her tears seemed to lose their way inside her eyes...they never came quite came to the surface. They just stuck inside her throat or made her eyes glisten for a second.
"We aren't as different as you may think," she said quietly, "but that is for a different time, in a different place, in a different lifetime...when everything that happened that makes me like you has long been forgotten. A time when all that has happened to you seems to disappear."

X closed his eyes and turned his head, lowering his weapons, "What has happened to me will never go away, not when you're like this."
X put a pistol on his arm and pulled the trigger. The bullet was stopped by the arm, not penetrating it at all. "You see, something like that never goes away. I'm stuck like this...forever."

She didn't flinch at the sound of the gun. That same sound had been her lullaby as a child. It's penetrating rumble used to trinkle into her bedroom window.
"I suppose you're right...you're stuck in this lifetime forever, aren't you? You're indesctructible or at least I think so. Am I wrong?" she said her tone different from her usual. It was the tone she used when talking to a client- a lifeless voice that held no happiness, no remorse, no admiration...nothing. She didn't know why she was using this tone with him. It just seemed appropriate. He didn't need her sympathy, her joy, her respect. Quite frankly, she didn't know what he needed. She was good at reading people but he was different. He seemed like a fragile porcelain doll and a rough bulldog all in one.

"Holy sh*t."
Ed suddenly felt very much weak. Bullets at point blank range don't just stop. Not with skin, at any rate.
"You're really...different. Demon's and all that bit. It's real."
His thoughts reached a cacophonous crescendo in his head, until he was literally gasping for breath. This meant all the strange people he's seen, the things he just couldn't explain, were not just tricks of the mind or oddities. This was real. So I guess there is a God up there after all.
"Pray tell, good sir, how the hell have you evaded government capture?"

X looked over to the one who asked the question, "To be honest, you don't want to know."
X was beginning to think that the situation was going to calm down. He sat back down on the stool, back against the bar. He appeared relaxed, but he was far from it.
