Interesting Discovery...

I ran into one of
these over the weekend, and of course you realize what it immediately brought to mind.
Big O's pistons.
They're essentially the same kind of thing...a hollow barrel, with a back that snaps forward and expells air out of the opening at high speed. Big O's are just REALLY FRIKKIN' HUGE!
But this also means that he doesn't need to punch an enemy
at all for it to work. The weapon is
entirely comprised of the air burst; the piston itself is probably completely hollow and thus would transmit very little actual force through the fist when it comes down. Heck, it couldn't have been a weight-piston anyway...such a weapon would only work if his arm were pointed
down, and would be incredibly heavy.
This also explains how Big O can lift such huge arms: they're mostly empty space inside.

Wow, that really does look like Big O's pistions neat! I am sure if someone ever made a Big O Costume these would be a great addition to their outfit! ^_^"

the pistons are more than jsut an air burst
thnk of hittign someone, and then hitting your elbow with a hammer
the pistsons move a huge weight very quickly
proportionally, it's a short distance, but realistically, the pistons are huge, anf likely moive the distance of a house
i remember using an empty bb gun to break glass, putting it against the glass, and the force of the jump would break it
same principle, just on a much much larger scale

That would only work if the arm was oriented with the fist pointing down. Otherwise gravity would rob the weight of a lot of its energy. Not to mention that it would make Big O's arms incredibly heavy (moreso than they already are), and given his structure I couldn't see it working.
There's also the end of Act 2--when Big O has Beck's van in his hand, and fires off the piston. If it worked the way you said, Beck's van should've been crushed like a tin can under a sledgehammer...but it wasn't. It was just rattled around a little. The pistons probably DO transmit some force through Big O's fist, but the vast majority of the weapon's effect comes from the air burst...which goes around Big O's fist, and hence did not affect Beck's van at all.
The same thing can be seen when he grabs the Beck Victory Deluxe's head in Act 9--the air burst cuts through the neck with ease, but the head itself (and the villains inside) are relatively intact. Again, a weapon like you described would've smashed the head entirely.

Dude! O_O Act12, 5 building were destroyed by the Sudden Impact when Big Duo took off. So yah h doesn't have to actally hit someone to do damage. Other than that, the idea is interesting. Certainly plausible.

Sounds like a good theory. Much better than anything I could think of.

Wow, awsome theory there bud. Never woulda thought of that.
But there sure is evidence for it, as you've supplied.
